My 10yo loves CrunchLabs; he typically knocks them out the day the box arrives.  Probably best for an individual rather than a group (although playing with the activity once built can be a group activity).

Your son is a bit older, but…

Your son is a bit older, but my youngest and I did this model when he was maybe 7 or 8.  It was an exercise in patience.  Those pieces are much smaller than legos, and it's easy to get off by a dot or two and have to tear out part of it and rebuild. You may have better luck, but I'd suggest planning on doing this over a series of sessions and not expecting to knock it out quickly.

Depending on where you’re…

Depending on where you’re coming from, check out The Ride shuttle.  Will caution that we’ve had long waits after the game; we walked back to the Sheraton after ECU (40ish mins) rather than waiting an hour in line like last year.

In our local league league, kids can start umping as young as 10 (coach pitch). One of our family friends accompanies their 10yo son every time he umps, just in case she has to jump in if someone goes after her son.  Unfortunate it has come to that, but there are way too many people taking things way too seriously.

Happy wife, happy life!  Sounds like a great day.

Caveat that this was after…

Caveat that this was after the CSU game / Labor Day Weekend.

Grizzly peak doesn’t take reservations on game days, so booked a 6pm patio table at Black Pearl.  Plenty of availability, although the patio options disappeared a day or two out.  Patio wasn’t full while we were there so may be limiting based on staffing.

Plenty of parking at the Ashley lot when we arrived, but it was pretty full when we left about 720.

We powered through a very tasty meal and walked down to Blank Slate; got there about 7 and there were only two people waiting in line outside.  When we’re done eating there were maybe 15-20 people in line.

enjoy!

First game in years. …

First game in years.  Arrived about 11 via the Ride Shuttle. No issues getting in via the gate next to Crisler; my wife had a small bag with medical items and the folks working that section were very friendly and professional, we were through and in within 5 minutes.

Tried to buy popcorn along with my pizza and was told that stand hadn't been given any popcorn that day.  Stood in line for almost a full quarter of game time plus the halftime break (5 left in the second, returned 6 left in the 3rd) to get shaved ice for my 9yo son; the stand was out of spoons and half the syrup options by the time we made it to the front of the line. No issues with bathroom waits, the huge men's room under 15 was great.  Saw those huge lines just to buy water and shook my head.

The Ride shuttle back was a mess; stood in line for probably 30-40 minutes waiting to get on a bus.

Best school I could afford to go to as a lower-middle class kid from SW Michigan.  Turned down a much bigger scholarship from Western to head to Ann Arbor.

Thanks for the insider view…

Thanks for the insider view.  What are 2-3 things that UM can do to improve?  You mention that having assistants carry more weight is the big difference with the way that UM operates vs most.  How much does that distract from the in-season duties to prep the current team, and what's the rationale?  Is it the extra "real" coach that gives UM by not having to burn a spot with a recruiting lead or something else?

I got burned by this. Was…

I got burned by this. Was going to take the kids to the Penn St game via the family pack ($20 ticket including hot dog and drink), and when I was finally ready to confirm a few days later I was shocked to find only singles available.

In general, make friends…

In general, make friends with your local store.  It doesn't have to be the highbrow beer store, it can be your neighborhood chain grocer; the grocer isn't as concerned about how much money you're spending on beer every week.  Ask them if they can get things, or if you know something is coming out, give them a heads up a few weeks out and ask if they're getting it, and if so, they could save you some.  I've found that even if they aren't beer fans themselves, if you're nice they'll ask their rep if they can get some.  This won't get you things that are brewery-only, but should cover pretty much anything that sees distribution.

With Pliny in particular, good luck.  They distribute to CA and Philly, that's it, from what I know.  If you're willing to trade someone from those areas, check out some of the beer trading forums on facebook, either national groups or local (try searching for Sacramento Beer as an example for a group in the Russian River distribution area).  Denver beer, especially things like WeldWorks, Casey, Black Project, etc. carries a lot of value in trades.

Depending on your hotel, check out The Ride's football shuttle.  We took it from/to the  Sheraton a few years ago and it worked out great.  http://www.theride.org/services/event-services/u-m-football-game-shuttles

Have you tried calling the front desk?  The local folks are often helpful and/or ignorant of extortionary cancellation policies. "My plans have changed and I need to cancel..."

No idea if this is a limited offer or something I've not stumbled across before

An easy way to get behind the WSJ paywall is to Google search for the article title.  The first WSJ should let you view the entire article.

Don't skimp on the "main"

Don't skimp on the "main" stroller.  Picked up a not-inexpensive BOB stroller, and that thing was spectacular.  It's a jogging stroller, not that it was ever used for that function, but the agility was good enough for downtown Chicago, while it also had no issue going offroad through fields.

If you or your wife are tall, make sure that any stroller (even the umbrella stroller) doesn't make you hunch over too much.  Makes a huge difference.

From the main page (https://vote.redditcfb.com/cfbrisk.php) click on the links explorer link. It's at the bottom of the box on the left hand side with your stats in it.  It will open a new page.  On that new page, open every single link (~20).  Once you've done that, go back to the main page and click on update sub karma, and then click on uupdate rating.

Never ate there in college

Never ate there in college (early 90's).  Same with Angelos, just wasn't in the budget.  Gumby's 5 for $25 was the high life for us, when we wanted to splurge.
