A Balanced View The good, the bad, and the ugly... The good things are the rich history, the proximity to the ocean, mountains, and a bunch of amazing places in New England. It is fun to see different perspectives. New England is great if you have money. The bad things are the cost of living, you will be traveling in stop and go traffic looking into the sun every morning and evening because an affordable/safe family housing will be outside 128/I-95 to the city. Your choices are windy roads or toll roads. The ugly items are the behavior. Where people in Little Rock, AR may say "Hi" to strangers, Massholes are different. If you did not go to Elementry school with them, then application for friendship is rejected. Your children will grow old, and there will be a plenty of $50K per year tuition colleges to choose from. The instate tuition of University of Arkansas will be missed. I lived three years in Waltham as my street cred.

I am here to beg for Karma.  My username on reddit is (NorthCampus2002) and I made some very "thoughtful" comments on this blog about conference realignment.

The Blueprint for Success The only logical choices are ME, EE, and CS. As an engineer you can starrt making $50K and the progress over your career to $120K. That is about the end the road. You are on the plantation, not picking cotton, but not rewarded when the harvest is good. The real play is to get your MBA as soon as possible. Then you start to take on the the role as plantation manager and the money gets interesting. If you can show the owners that you will whip the slaves, hire, and fire then they will give you a small incentive. I started making $200K by age 31 and $500 by age 34 following a similar strategy. If you ever want real money, then you have to start your own plantation and CS may give you the best leverage for that. Note: No racist comments are contained in this message. We are all slaves to something; even you.
