Monfils has been one of the Monfils has been one of the greatest disappointments of the past 10 years...with his ability he should be a constant threat in the majors.

Completely agree...saw Opelka Completely agree...saw Opelka play in Cincinnati last year, and he seems to have a greater athletic ability to succeed serving and volleying than Isner. Hoping for the best with these guys, the US needs someone that everyone can get behind (though I'm not counting Jack Sock out yet)

Out of all the youngsters in Out of all the youngsters in the US, I feel like Donaldson has the greatest upside (just needs an improvement in fitness). The rest of the guys should all be solid top 50 players, in the next few years but I question how high Fritz and Opelka can go with so much dependence on their serve (we have seen how a big serve can only get you so far with Isner). There is a lot to look forward to with the US guys, just hoping that the development continues at a high level and that these guys keep pushing each other.

It's great to see this crew It's great to see this crew of young players coming up. I believe the U.S. now has the most teenagers in the top 200. The fact that Donaldson trained in Argentina for a few years to develop on clay shows the exact problem that the USTA has had in recent years. Hopefully that will change with the new facility in Florida with over 100 courts, including red clay and Har-tru green clay.

That was Bruce Bourque. He is That was Bruce Bourque. He is now an assistant down at university of Texas. I would doubt if he is a viable replacement though, since there were several variables inside the program that led to his firing

BIG win for the maize and BIG win for the maize and blue! This seems to be one of the better teams both in singles and doubles that Coach Bernstein has had. Three nationally ranked singles players and 1 nationally ranked doubles team, with only one senior on the roster bodes well for not only this year but also continued Big Ten dominance! Go Blue!

I like it to an extent, just I like it to an extent, just not when it's overdone and on an opponents unforced error. The one that I grew up watching who did it all the time was Lleyton Hewitt in the early 2000's

If he wasn't a senior I would If he wasn't a senior I would probably tend to agree with that thought, but being a senior if anything he would be an extra body on the DLine. I guess time will tell if any other team clears him and he plays, but I get the feeling that it was based on health and long term damage.

It really is too bad that we It really is too bad that we can't get the full story from the UofM perspective. The statement about needing the scholarship just doesn't make sense since we are not over the limit, and he is a senior. With such a short time before fall practice starts, if we were getting a grad transfer I would imagine that would already been taken care of (cohesion w/teammates, playbook, etc.). I really get the feeling that Harbaugh and co. were looking out for his best interest, but being a competitive athlete being told that your not able to do something has to be a tough pill to swallow. That is where I see the disconnect coming, and really nothing wrong with this situation.

Just went on Twitter to see Just went on Twitter to see if Battle had any change of info. He still has his edit in a UofM jersey as his profile pic and has yet to change his biography from saying that he is a "Michigan commit"....if Twitter is any indication, maybe all is not lost yet!

After graduating in 2014, I After graduating in 2014, I have told any incoming freshman to try and take one of the first year seminars. They are usually 3 to 4 credits, taught by professors in small settings (usually 15-20 students). The topics tend to be where the professors interest is most based (I took one on the psychological perspective of political life, and it was both interesting and easy). Additionally they will count towards general electives (I.e. SS,NS,HUM, etc.). Really good option if available to fill out a schedule!

Have to believe that Harbaugh Have to believe that Harbaugh knows exactly what he is looking for! On another recruiting note, Devin Gil just decommited from Miami!
Go Blue!! This team really Go Blue!! This team really seems like they are the real deal! Time for a big run in OKC!
Disappointing but considering Disappointing but considering its reported at 8 years for 50 million it's not surprising. Sad to see him go, but feel like this is the perfect time for Blashill to step in!

Great win to get to Waco! Great win to get to Waco! Even though the team lost to Georgia at the beginning of the year, I don't see any reason why they can't turn the tables when it matters most. That match used the altered scoring that the ITA tried to implement to "speed up" duel matches (doubles only up to 6 games, no ad scoring). Go Blue!!
Great job by the team! Great job by the team! Hopefully they can get by DePaul with similar ease, then anything can happen when they reach Waco! I've got a feeling that the ladies are going to be making some noise! Go Blue!

Most Michigan Thing: Being in Ohio this year has been tough w/ OSU winning the Championship. The day after the game, I wore UofM gear and was able to keep the buckeyes quiet due to Harbaugh happening. Since then I had worn a variety of UofM jackets all around Ohio! Otherwise during undergrad, I don't know if it's the most Michigan thing I did, but I was able to help Denard out by participating in an interview for one of his classes!
For me, I feel like a lot of For me, I feel like a lot of my motivation came from just wanting to have as many opportunities that I could have after high school. Growing up, I loved Michigan and wanted to go there, but really wasn't sure about it during the early parts of high school. I didn't have to work too hard in high school, so in the end, I would say I wanted to be able to choose the college of my choice, and not have to settle. Participating in extracurricular activities and sports helped to keep me engaged, especially the more high school wore on. In the end, I was able to choose to go to Michigan, and loved every moment of it (graduated last yr). Deep down, as other posters have said, I think my self knowledge knowing that I wanted to go to UofM played a major part in keeping up motivation!
Isn't women's tennis also up Isn't women's tennis also up to five or six regular season titles on a row?

Michigan wins the Big Ten Michigan wins the Big Ten Tourney with a win at #4! Will now wait until Tuesday to see the regional pairings, and Michigan should be hosting since they should still be ranked in the top 16 when ranking come out on Monday!!
Michigan now leads 3-0 thanks Michigan now leads 3-0 thanks to wins at the #1 and #2 positions! The other four singles matches are all about midway through the second set! Just need one more win!
Great start to singles play Great start to singles play as Michigan takes 5 first sets, with the only loss being at #5 singles! Time to close out the Buckeyes for the tourney title!
Great start for the maize and Great start for the maize and blue! They win an extremely close doubles point (two of the three matches decided in tiebreaks), and now only need to win 3/6 singles matches to win the Big Ten Tourney!
100% agree! She is a solid, crafty player that just wins. 100% agree! She is a solid, crafty player that just wins.
I feel like this is the best I feel like this is the best team that coach Bernstein has had. Having Emina Bektas as a senior (and who could carve out a nice pro career) and Ronit Yurovsky as a junior leading the team is one of the best 1,2 punches in college tennis. They could lead UofM on a run in the NCAAs depending on the draw they get. Plus, as it currently stands, they should be hosting the first two rounds which would give them a decided home court advantage (they rank second in the country in attendance). Go blue!
I have to say Bill Martin did I have to say Bill Martin did a great job grabbing coach Bernstein from the south. What she has done with a northern team is something else!
I would say that this is the I would say that this is the best team that we have had over the past six. They have been lucky to get a few outdoor matches recently, but I would still say they are at the very top of the second tier, and could make a run in the NCAA's if they get a draw against the teams in the 6,7,8 rankings.
It's incredible how good the It's incredible how good the women's tennis team has been in the last six years. Last I looked, they were the highest ranked team not from the south or west. The ability that coach Bernstein has in recruiting not only the best players in the state, but getting some of the best juniors around the nation to play at a school that only plays two or three weekends for the entire year outside is something else! Congrats to the team, and hopefully this is the year they make a deep run in NCAA's!!

Listening to the Canadian Listening to the Canadian broadcast of last nights game, they brought this up during intermission. Their thoughts were that he will stay in Detroit, and that the money won't matter. I tend to agree with their main point being that he will get paid by Detroit, and why would he leave somewhere that has made the playoffs for 24 straight years for a potential rebuild. Just found it interesting that even some Canadian broadcasters feel he won't be leaving
