He churns out great, comfortable sports related t-shirts with a dose of retro. Headquartered in A2 and run by an alum and life long Michigan fan.
I just ordered his championship T. He also has one of Desmond’s catch, the win over OSU and Michigan’s Heisman winners. Good Pro Detroit selection as well.
Iggy is another example of a Beilein recruit in this mold. Iggy was around 6'6" 220 lbs. Bullied his way to the hoop against smaller wings, had ball skills and perimeter shot making ability.
Teske is listed on the roster at 7'0', 245 pounds. That is the exact same size that Andrew Bogut was listed as on Utah's roster the year he won Player of the Year awards (2004-'05). Although Teske may lose playing time to Davis or even be redshirted in favor of Davis, I don't think it will be because of his size (lack of girth).
I am excited by the prospect of having a rim protecting shot blocker on defense, which should force opponents to take more "tough twos," and hope Teske gets the chance to play this year.
Head coach at WMU. Stints as college and NFL assistant. Worked under Kill, Schiano and Tressel. He could bring MIke Hart with him. Great recruiter. One of only two current FBS coaches to have both played and coached in the NFL. No crazier an idea than some of the other names being thrown around.
Sean Obi is transferring from Rice. Maybe gets a waiver due to the coaching change there. On the C-USA all-Freshman team. 6' 9", 265 pounds. Grabbed 31% of opponents misses. Shot 60% from the floor. Averaged 11 points and 9 rebounds a game as a Freshman.
Originally chose to go to Rice because of their strong engineering and business schools. I would think we could satisfy him in those areas as well at UM.
I think too many people are overlooking the significance of losing the bench players that this team loses to graduation. We are losing a lot of experience and leadership in the locker room. There is a reason Bartelstein was named Captain and that Corey Person was invited back for a 5th year. Now they, along with Eso, Vogrich and McLimans are gone. If Burke and Hardaway leave for the NBA, someone will need to step up and lead this team. There were 15 players on the team this year. If Burke and Hardaway leave, that would mean 7 of the 15 - nearly half are gone. It would also mean that we will only have 11 scholarship players and no walk-ons. It will be interesting to see who, if anyone, the coaching staff brings in as either grayshirts or walk-ons to fill out the roster.
This one will likely be closer than people think. By way of example, KenPom has IUPUI ranked 237. Cleveland State is 94. Michigan should still win, but the level of competition is steadily increasing.
MSG will really be a challenge as Pitt and K.State are ranked 13 and 15 respectively by KenPom.
That stretch adds up to 18 points over a 3 game stretch. My list was limited to seasons where the defense gave up 10 or less combined points over a 3 game stretch.
I do agree that the 1997 defense was awesome. I was surprised that they did not make the cut.
In the last 30 years, there have only been 3 seasons other than 2011 where the UM defense has allowed a total of 10 or fewer points over a 3 game stretch.
2003 - During that year, Michigan only lost 2 regular season games by a combined total of 7 points @Iowa and @Oregon. Went on to lose to USC in the Rose Bowl.
1985 - UM did it twice in one season. Finished reg. season 9-1-1 with a 2 point loss @Iowa and a 3-3 tie @ Illinois. Went on to beat Nebraska in the Fiesta Bowl.
1980 - UM shutout Indiana, Wisconsin and Purdue in consecutive weeks. Finished reg. season 9-2 with only a 2point loss @South Bend, and a 3 point loss to South Carolina at home. Went on to beat Washington in the Rose Bowl.
No offense to Molk, but Jonathan Goodwin was a Pro-Bowl reserve at center after playing center for the Saints on their run to the Super Bowl. I think I would give him the nod at center.
I think Jibreel is okay. Brandon Graham was listed at 6' 2", 263 lbs. as a Senior. J.Black at 6' 2", 260 is nearly identical. Plus, he is wearing Graham's number. Now, if he could just play like Brandon, we'd be in good shape.
I believe that cut is top 44 including ties and anyone within 10 strokes of the leader. Because the leader is currently at -7, the projected cut line is for anyone over +3. I would guess that someone is going to finish the day with a score better than -7. I think that for Lion to make the cut, he is going to have to get to Even or maybe +1. Not impossible, but would require an unbelievable round.
It is encouraging to realize that Jordan Morgan is having a better first season than both D. Sims and C. Sims in a number of categories including Min/Game, FG%, Rb/Game, Assists, steals, and Pts/Game. If he can continue to develop and improve under Coach Alexander's tutelage, perhaps a NBA future is not out of the question.
Not what I was suggesting at all. I was responding to a post about Beilein and the team claiming that we have no post presence and it is because Beilein just wants big guys to shoot 3's all the time. Jordan Morgan's play so far this year suggests otherwise as he has been camped out in the paint and not asked to shoot 3's.
Your post suggests you have not seen the team play. The second leading scorer on the team is Jordan Morgan, our 5. He has not even attempted a single 3 pointer and scores almost all of his points on the inside, mainly off of nice pick and rolls with D-Mo.
You will be able to buy tickets at the door. There will also be professional scalpers outside, as well as friendly people looking to get rid of some extra tickets. You should not have any problem getting into the game. For these early games, the stadium is about 1/3 full.
Not sure that we were "thoroughly outplayed" on special teams. Michigan averaged 21 yds per kickoff return to 14 for MSU. Each team had one punt return: Michigan for 14 yards, MSU for 9. Net yards per punt: Michigan won the battle 44.8 to 36.5. Avg. per punt: Michigan won the battle 47 to 45. Other than going 1/2 on FG's, Michigan outplayed MSU in virtually every other aspect of special teams.
Having different angles for replays is sweet. Also fun to be able to follow stats, although it wished it showed all of the stats instead of just the category leaders. It is also great for kids. My 6 year old son loves it and finds it easier to follow the action on the field by watching the live feed. Wish it would work at away games so I could bring it with me to Indiana this weekend.
You've got to be kidding me. They kicked him out. What if the fans were heckling a Yankee fan who was there to enjoy the game and support his team by wearing a Jeter jersey. Would they escort the Yankee fan out of the stadium? Sounds crazy to me, but then again it is Ohio. My guess is the fan was doing more than just sitting there with the jersey on.
Root for our team and, if necessary, bring out the "Can't Read, Can't Write" chant and serenade them with "If you can't get into college, go to State."
Also, if he's there - a nice loud "we want Ziegler" chant might be nice.
Great post. Given the team's poor performance as of late and the state of the economy in Michigan, it is truly a testament to the loyalty of the Michigan fanbase that Michigan stadium has been filled to 102.3% of capacity this season.
People may not realize that other schools simply cannot fill their significantly smaller stadiums, even when their teams are having good seasons- examples below with percents of capacity this season:
Miami (FL) - 66%
Pittsburgh - 74.9%
Stanford - 75.6%
California - 84.5%
Southern Cal - 88.7%
Oklahoma St. - 90.4%
Georgia Tech - 92.4%
Cincinnati - 95.4%
Actually, it likely is Princeton. In 1937, Michigan played the University of Chicago on November 6th, not on October 16th, and we did not steal the winged helmet design from Princeton until 1938. http://bentley.umich.edu/athdept/football/helmet/mhelmet.htm
EDIT - sorry, reread your post. Saw you were making the same point. You are right that most people probably don't realize the Fritz Crisler brought the winged helmets from Princeton. Kind of cool that we have owned that tradition ever since.
Over the last 6 years, the Big 10's head to head record against the SEC in bowl games is 8-8. This hardly suggests dominance by one conference over another.
This past Saturday, Delaware State played in front of a home crowd of 3,873 and lost to Bethune-Cookman (1-4, 1-3) by a score of 9-7. The 7 points that the hornets scored resulted from a kickoff return to BC's 2 yard line. DSU managed a total of 166 yards of offense in the game.
Thanks for the formatting help. It looked better when I previewed it than whent it actually got posted. Given that we almost beat Utah and did beat Miami - I guess I was just suprised at how dramatically improved the offense is statistically this year.
Holy Crap! I have never heard so much whining and complaining after a loss. The refs, the clock, the music - give me a break. It was a great game ND, but you lost. Move on and focus on trying to beat the Spartans.
Notre Dame's offense had to call a bunch of time-outs b/c they couldn't get plays in on time and consistently ran the play clock down close to zero. If they function the same way in practice - maybe that is why our offense seemed to be playing so fast.

Not sure about "middle" as a modifier, but there is a Central Florida, which is the largest university in terms of enrollment in the state of Florida.
FYI - Pretty sure game is at 9:30 p.m. not 9:00.
Michigan Cheer Team won 4 National Championships in a row from 2013-2016.

I got my tickets through UM when I renewed my season tickets.
I am in Section 203.
Last great Michigan linebacker that I remember wearing #3 was Shonte Peoples.

Stauskas is like J.J. Redick, except taller.

Go Blue!
I'll take 236
Cam Gordon has been listed as the starting SLB on every depth chart released so far this season.

No argument from me. I was in Pasadena to watch them beat Washington in the Rose Bowl.
Possible excuse for unbridled optimism:

ED. Oops. 1 minute too late.
Isn't Rich Eisen a Michigan man?

Comparing our current roster with our roster in 2006
In 2006, the Defensive Line (W. Johnson, A. Branch, L. Woodley, J. Van Alstyne, T. Taylor, T. Jamison and R. Biggs) averaged 284.86 lbs.
In 2011, the D-line (Martin, Campbell, Roh, Van Bergen, Washington, Ash, Black and Heininger) averages 292.63 lbs.
In 2006, our LB's (Burgess, Graham, Crable, Thompson and Harris) averaged 233.8 lbs.
In 2011, our LB's (Gordon, Demens, Jones, Fitzgerald, Ryan, Bell & Evans) average 236 lbs.
In 2006, our DB's (Hall, Trent, Adams, Barringer and Englemon) averaged 200.4 lbs.
In 2011, our DB's (Floyd, Woolfolk, Johnson, Furman, Gordan and Kovacs) average slightly less at 198.17 lbs.
Also, our Tight Ends in 2006 were Tyler Ecker at 246 and Mike Massey at 234.
This year, we have Koger at 258, Moore at 255, Watson at 255 and Miller at 234. Interesting to see that Miller is already as big as Massey was.

Beilein announced that Dumars is being redshirted. I believe he injured his knee.

I believe Smotrycz and Hardaway were top 100 recruits per ESPN as well.
Also, Cam Newton is 6' 6", 250 lbs. Would be great to get the benefit of speed and size.
Colin Kaepernick at Nevada is 6' 6'', 225 and he runs like a deer.

Visitor's sideline. Section 29. Can't remember row - something in the 50's.

We are driving down on Friday and staying overnight in Indianapolis. Got rooms at the Hyatt downtown for cheap on Priceline.
