Putting a michigan banner on the territory of other university soil is a sign that you have no confidence in your own football team to win it on the field, so the student body somehow is responsible for defeating the other team, off the field. This needs to stop. it's a bold move only when you have no choices left but to claim victory outside the football realm (similar to comparing school rankings). It basically says that you don't think that Michigan will win against Notre Dame, so you overcompensate the night before the game by doing something stupid. Well, this backfires on us dramatically because 8 individuals misrepresented the whole University by showing that we are weak and we have to resort to other means of gloating. Also, you are fueling motivation speech for the other team prior to the game. They had no reason to take the game that seriously because their starting quarterback is a freshman and he had only heard about the rivalry. Now, because of this banner, players who are replacing last year's starters are taking the issue a lot more personal and they actually have a reason to play harder. Putting Michigan material on other university soil, such as the flag on Ohio State's campus when our football team sucked, means that 1) we have no confidence in our team and we are using a bold move out of cowardance to overcompensate our weakness 2) the other team would see this as a personal attack to their university that they chose to represent and they will see this as motivation to play harder during the game.

Please give our football team a fighting chance by not doing stupid stuff like this. Instead of wasting time planning and driving to South Bend, please read "48 Laws of Power" and join a chess club so that you know how to behave when you play an opponent who has a winning chance to beat you. Please do not resort to stuff like this for future rivalry games, expecially the Ohio-Michigan game.

Thank You.
