SO did Stetson Bennett.

SO did Stetson Bennett.

A HUGE part of the…

A HUGE part of the Harbaughffense is keeping the defense off the field.  Obviously scoring points is important, but holding the football and having a fresh D is very important too.

Premiere high school coaches…

Premiere high school coaches spend all summer and most of the entire year working with their team.  And I would be willing to bet most of them do it because they love coaching, they don't want to spend all their time recruiting for a college. This is a non-starter

It's rationalizing and it's…

It's rationalizing and it's a silly take from anyone who knows anything about football.  Jim is an unbelievable football coach, Sherrone has coached a few good offensive lines.  To think that youth and whatever else means that Sherrone will be as good or better than Jim is dumb.  He won't be, and that's ok. Hoping for one big ten championship and three playoff appearances in the next six years.  To me, that would be success.

I think the offense is gonna…

I think the offense is gonna be painful next year.  Not Iowa level, but below mediocre.

One comment about the top 5…

One comment about the top 5...I would have last year's win at Ohio in there.  The way JJ and the defense played in THAT game, on the ROAD, in THAT game...just epic, and shocking.  I would agree this is top 3.

And ironically, they're not…

And ironically, they're not those guys.  Michigan's DT's are very good, but they're not top 5 or 10 pick good.  They might be first rounders, but likely not. The strength of this defense is the collective strength.  That they could comfortably play 18 or 19 defenders without a noticeable gap is amazing.  Probably will have 8 or 10 pros when its all said and done, but probably no first rounders except for Johnson.

I'm tired of hearing …

I'm tired of hearing "Donovan Edwards in the passing game".  He's not in the passing game, and he's not going to be and its because our coaches, who do a pretty good job of talent evaluation, don't think he should be.  He's made a few nice plays in the passing game over a 3 year career against inferior talent.  He's not Christian McCaffery.

Pushable is one thing, we're…

Pushable is one thing, we're not gonna run for 300 yards against them.  OSU's DTs were a joke in 21.

Also, Burton and Bond are…

Also, Burton and Bond are both good.

Comparing Milroe's running…

Comparing Milroe's running to Clifford is laughable. Milroe is ten times the athlete clifford is. It'd be like comparing Shaun Alexander to Curtis Enis. Or Derrick Henry to some middling PSU running back like Zack Zwinak.

Agreed, this is an absurd…

Agreed, this is an absurd take.

Well said, agree.

Well said, agree.

The LSA transfer policy is…

The LSA transfer policy is not the biggest issue.  The biggest issue is Juwan's inability to coach.  He's a mediocre recruiter who doesn't develop talent.  Our teams consistently give away games late, and go long stretches of time without a FG.  Sure, it would be nice to have guys that want to transfer, but get better with what you got.

It seems to me that he's…

It seems to me that he's just not a very good running back.  Can he be a james white for michigan, maybe, but that's down the list of priorities for most offenses, particularly at the college level.  It would be nice if we can get him 8-10 touches for 60 yards against Bama, but it's wishful thinking.

Ummm...we scored 28 points…

Ummm...we scored 28 points in the 2nd half last year? Play action, mullings passes, long runs...what else could possibly be considered putting it all together? The simplest explanation, IMO, is that our O line this year is not nearly as good as it was 21 or 22.  Also no Ronnie Bell.

I love ZZ, but sorry Brian,…

I love ZZ, but sorry Brian, the clip of Zinter at the 6 yard line is him getting dish ragged by the DT and essentially thrown into the LB.  He is not chipping...there isn't another linemen on the DT.

Seth wildly underestimates…

Seth wildly underestimates Georgia.  They still have by FAR the most talent.  Wait until we see their offensive and defensive line.

He clearly held the center…

He clearly held the center on this.  It happens every play and almost never gets called, but its a hold.

Hutchinson by far. Two…

Hutchinson by far. Two dominant NFL first rounders (and maybe HOFers depending on how dominant Aidan is).

I think the Graham call was…

I think the Graham call was B.S. because defensive holding is rarely called on a D linemen and needs to be egregious if it is called.  That said, if you're going by the letter of the law, he did impede a double-teaming lineman from getting to the 2nd level by grabbing and turning him. Happens on virtually every running play and doesn't get called 98% of the time, but it is a hold.  I think it was "makeup" from the Roman Wilson touchdown that shouldn't have necessitated a makeup call, but Day did an ineffective job of working the refs for 60 seconds between possessions.

If Day uses the TO on second…

If Day uses the TO on second down, there is no chance Michigan passes the ball on third.  They would burn the 40 seconds every time.  Accordingly, there is no argument about preserving 40 seconds using a defensive timeout being better than having an offensive timeout.  Day's analysis is simply whether the increased likelihood of Michigan passing on 3rd and 6 (due to not using the TO on 2nd down) coupled with the possibility of having a TO for his final drive is better than the absolute certainty of having 1:05 minute and no timeouts.  He correctly believed that the former was the better option.  Of course, it was all moot because Michigan chose to run anyway.

To follow-up, I think it was…

To follow-up, I think it was actually the correct decision for day not to use the TO on 2nd down:

1) if he uses the TO on second down, Michigan almost assuredly runs the ball on 3rd to bleed clock, and he is in the same position as if he used it on third down.

2) by not using it on 2nd down, he preserves the possibility, albeit unrealized in this game, that he keeps one TO for his offensive drive because Michigan decides to throw on third and its incomplete.

Couple of points on the TO's…

Couple of points on the TO's on Michigan's last series.

1. It was probably a mistake for OSU to not use their last TO on 2nd down, but the reason they didn't was to put michigan in the exact predicament they were in.  I wanted Michigan to do something to try and win it on 3rd and 6, but I understand not doing doing it.  They really wanted OSU to use that last timeout.

2. Even with the clock stopping on first downs in college, having one timeout to rescue the offense on a final drive is big.  It makes checking it down possible, or even taking a sack, though not ideal.  If OSU has the TO on their final drive...we're likely not talking about Rod Moore and Jaylen Harrell ending the game.  That is how significant it is.

I still think Michigan should have tried to win it on 3rd and 6, but for the aforementioned reasons, forcing the use of the TO on 3rd down is more than justified. (it helps that OSU didn't march down and score a TD, in which case we'd all be screaming that we lost this game because Jim couldn't weigh-in on that 3rd down call).

My only comment would be to give James Turner some love in the KFaTAotW Standings.  3 for 3 including a 50 yarder in cold weather in his first season in the Game was very impressive.
