I have several wonderful conversations with Bill Laskey, who retired to Leland. He played linebacker and end at Michigan for Bump Elliott 1962-1964, winning the Rose Bowl his last year. He had a 10 year pro football career and had John Madden as his linebacker coach. He then became his head coach and Bill played in Super Bowl II. He loved Michigan football and loved John Madden. Always had his Michigan Rose Bowl ring on when I would see him.
Red Bull! These Tigers are finally starting to be fun to watch again. Certainly a diamond in the rough. For most of this season the starting rotation has led the league in ERA. Young players showing much potential in Mize, Skubal, Soto, Baddoo, Candelario. A lock down closer in Fuller. One of the best managers in the game. Hinch has them staying loose, interchanging positions often, stealing bases regularly. Using high end analytics in every phase of the game.
Nothing better to start to build a little excitement for the football team. It would take a little effort to look at vaccination cards and ID, but it would assure safety. It would be a great way to help break out from the long shutdown and maybe even encourage more vaccinations if more events did this. A decision actually based on science!
What a wonderful thing to see and hear with the fans going wild late game. As they have all season, the bench was going crazy too. Including Livers, who definitely looked like his foot was not bothering him at all. May we keep the nearly home court advantage going with even more Michigan fans buying up those tickets next weekend!
We are so lucky to have Coach Howard. If I were a high level recruit, not only the coach’s knowledge and experience would attract me, but how could I play for a more likable personality. He uses so much positive reinforcement as opposed to other nearby coaches who regularly scream at their players and publicly belittle them when they falter. Howard hasn’t forgotten that this game is supposed to be fun. That is the biggest link to the Fab 5 era.
It may be a bigger issue of, should they allow a higher percentage of fans to the games. At this point NCAA could just require proof of antibodies for COVID or vaccination. Antibody test easy to get if a person donates blood. Yesterday a Dr from John’s Hopkins estimated that 50% of Americans have antibodies now due to studies showing large numbers of people having a history of unknown asymptomatic COVID besides the ones that were known. 15% vaccinated at this point and rising weekly are added to the people with antibodies from previous infection as well as T cell immunity. He determined that there should gradually develop herd immunity in the next 2 months, with case numbers declining as we approach that time.
The rankings at this point are fine. The schedule is fine. The biggest opponent is health. If we keep injuries and COVID in check the rest will take care of itself. This is our most fun team to watch ever!

DeJulius floor slap was clever! When he did that, Spartans were perplexed, confused because they thought they were the ones that did that. With the Sparties on their heels, a Michigan scoring spurt followed.
Our team is nearly injury free at this time. Every year there usually are several players out or playing impaired by this point of the season. If you think about past seasons, is a huge factor in games late season like Indiana and OSU. Our early season games were more affected by injury, especially Wisconsin. Quarterback badly banged up, missing or coming back before recovered left tackle, top running back, DPJ just back but not effective, Black and Thomas not into game mode yet. Also replacing several key defensive players early season and a new offense. With this in mind, I predict a big win over Indiana and upsetting the Buckeyes.
