The Big Picture

I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility that Michigan finishes the season with a 2-10 record.  This is a really bad football team.  Special teams are terrible (no FG kicker, punter hit's line drives and we can't cover punt returns); defensive secondary is a sieve and front 7 looked awful against the run today, and the offense doesn't even merit comment.  Where are the wins going to come from?  Rutgers on the road next week and Indiana at home?   I wouldn't favor Michigan in either one.  Either way, I bet Hoke will be back for a wonderful 6-6 season next year before they finally tire of him.

Put Shane In

The OL is horrendous and we'll have no running game or pass protection against team with even a medicore defense.  If there's any chance Morris will start next year, I'd put him in to get the reps.  Gardner is just not good enough - the smallest amount of pressue and he panics.  We'll probably be lucky to go 7-5 this season, so why not get ready for next season (it Hoke's still here I think we'll be able to win at least 6 games next year).

Hoke is an excellent 5-7 Coach

"Hoke is a good coach and knows more about college football then 99.99% of the people I read on this blog."

That's almost certainly true, but he has to know more about college football than the other coaches, and in four years at Michigan it's apparent that's far from the truth.  If you're satisfied with 6-6 or 5-7 seasons, then Brady Hoke is your man.  He did nothing at Ball State and next to nothing at SDSU (one winning season with a home bowl-game win over a weak Navy team).  Unfortunately, he's the best Michigan can get now - it's no longer considred a top football job.  We can't recruit and we can't even compete in the weakest major conference around.  Most U-M football fans have given up on this team and are looking forward to hockey and basketball seasons.  Maybe I'll check back in two or three years when this University gets serious about football again and has the talent to beat anything other than 2nd-division MAC teams.  This team is an utter embarrassment to the universtiy, the state, and the game of football.

Next Week Against Minnesota we might get 2 Field Goals

I'm kicking myself that I didn't shell out $100 per ticket + $10 for a coke, and $9 for a hot dog to watch this game.  What was I thinking spending a beautiful fall weekend on a golf course when I could have watched Michigan kick a field goal against a team with perhaps the 80th best defense in the country.  Go Blue!  If we can go 3-5 in the big team we'll have five wins on the year and only miss being bowl-eligible by one game.  Sign Hoke up for another 10 years!

Loyalty

Enjoy your loyalty to Brady Hoke and your 6-6 season with many more to come.

Michigan's Disastorous Sesason Continues with a Loss to Utah

There's no way this U-M team beats Utah.  The U-M secondary is a sieve, the front seven can't tackle and there's nothing resembling a rush, even when they blitz.  Utah will carve up Michigan's defense.  Michigan might score a few points, but every defense now knows that you just need to blitz Gardner to rattle him.  Gardner will toss up two or three interceptions and fumble once or twice and the running game will be held to under 50 yards.  With the exception of the Rich Rod era, this is perhaps the worst U-M team since the 1984 team that went 6-6.  Couple this with a loss to PSU, MSU, and OSU, and the best case scenario for this team is a 7-5 record. If the Big-10 weren't abysmal (see the 3-6 non-conf record this past weekend against a bunch of teams no better than FCS teams), I'd say it wasn't impossible for this team to go 6-6 or 5-7, but the MAC-like strength of their Big10 schedule will almost guarentee this team 7 wins.
