I didn't tell 'em to put Rutgers in the conference. Do they know what Rutgers IS? Have they ever seen Rutgers? No one can tell what Rutgers' gonna do. They're unpredictable.
I think it's harder than you think. After all, they did beat Michigan, Wichita State, and Louisville (twice), which I would hardly call "lesser teams." I get what you're saying, but their game against MSU looked like a crappy version of an NBA offense. They would just hold the ball until the end of the shot clock and then let an individual try to make a play. They are a LONG way from that now. Also, if you watched Cauley-Stein this year, vs last year, you would see that he does make his players better. And, to be fair, I don't really think there is a huge difference between one and dones and "two and throughs," which UM seems to be grabbing its share of lately (which is an awesome problem to have).
I think you're underestimating how hard it can be to make a team out of individual stars. They were dreadful for most of the year, but Calipari has finally gotten them to buy in. I'm not a fan of the one and done approach, but what he's done this year is impressive. The guy has been to multiple final fours and title games in the last few years. To call him a bad coach is just silly.
As long as you did your prep work over the summer, you'll be fine. You'll be amazed at how many people just don't have a clue. What state? And good luck.
Also, to echo an earlier poster's comment, after watching this, I'm so impressed with Hoke's poise at the podium (and everywhere else he goes). Love. Our. Coach.
Watching Beckman's time at the podium replayed on BTN. Is he on speed? Serious question. He might actually be an upgrade from the Zooker in terms of entertainment value.
Dude, go home. (1) the Tigers are the defending AL champs and are currently leading their division, again. (2) If you've ever spent any time in Detroit, you'd know that it is, despite all popular misconceptions, a pretty cool city. Does it have its problems? Of course. But, it is rich in tradition and has lots more going for it than many other cities in the country.
The amount of coverage has surprised me too, but I suspect many have the same reaction that I did, which probably has something to do with it. The article doesn't really focus on his birthday itself, but does give an interesting look at MJ behind the scenes, though, which is why I thought it was a good read.
Based on what? I'm not trying to be overly snarky (or even remotely so), but how old are you? TV money did not suddenly arive on the scene in 2000, and ESPN has been around for DECADES. March Madness has been an advertizing/TV contract bonanza for years and years, to say nothing of the massive amounts of money exchanged in office pools, bracket challenges, etc. Simply because some under the age of 25 might not remember Michigan pre-2000 (and I think many would) doesn't have anything to do with whether that time period (and arguably decades before that) was part of "modern college sports." I don't think you'll find too many people argue that the Fab Five were not a part of "modern college sports" and that was twenty years ago. While the stats from 2000 to the present say what they say, and I'm not knocking you for pointing them out (I agree they are fairly depressing) I think you could tell a completely different story simply looking at a different starting point. In the end, Michigan is still Michigan. Despite tonight's disappointment, I don't think you can honestly deny that both football and basketball are trending in the right direction.
Agree 100%. Sad to go out on a loss, but we gave a top ten, SEC team all they could handle even though we didn't play our best game. The program is heading in the right direction, and I couldn't be happier that Hoke is our coach. Can't wait to see where he takes us in years to come. GO BLUE!
Couldn't he just say, "we'll need to let the process play out. We are focused on our bowl game, sending our seniors out with a win, and controlling the things we can control."? Seems like that would be more coachspeak in that it really doesn't tell you anything one way or the other.
Or he might be Skinner and realize that the generally prevailing view doesn't fit and blow the whole thing up. He doesn't need to be an expert in psychoanalysis to say, "hey, I don't think this is working. Let's try something different." I'm glad you know a lot--apparently--about the minutiae of football (but apparently not much about psychology), but to attempt to discredit anyone else's view simply because, "hey, I (think) I know more than you," doesn't really advance the discussion. I don't think it's very complicated to say, "hey, whatever the reasons, the offense is not getting it done. Isn't that on Borges?"
I have UVerse as well and have never had an issue. Great customer service, too. I do have a related problem, though. I have to travel for work and will be on the road during the ND game (i.e., in the car, not in a hotel). I've had similar issues before and have settled for espn's game track on my phone or something similar. Anyone know a good app/website I could use to stream the game on my phone? Even if it's just play by play, I'd be happy to listen in the car. Suggestions?
Don't let a little thing like the law stand in the way of a good argument, right? He is not a convicted felon, and he will not be under the terms of the statute governing his plea agreement (HYTA):
". . .if an individual pleads guilty to a criminal offense, committed on or after the individual's seventeenth birthday but before his or her twenty-first birthday, the court of record having jurisdiction of the criminal offense may, without entering a judgment of conviction and with the consent of that individual, consider and assign that individual to the status of youthful trainee."
So, we have a youthful trainee dressing for games, not a felon. After satisfying the terms of his agreement, he will have (and currently has) no criminal record. That is an important distinction given the fact that your argument, such as it is, appears to swing entirely on his legal status. The State of Michigan believes he should have another chance after paying his dues, and you think Hoke shouldn't?

Agreed. That's totally inappropriate. It's lewed, lascivious, salacious, outrageous!

Dominating UofM on the boards was most certainly not luck.

Wine, fire, and waiting for UofM to beat the Sh*t out of Wisconson tomorrow!
Or top recruiting classes = winning 3 national championships in 4 years?
Yeah? Well I have many leather-bound books, and my appartment smells of rich mahogany.
Not to be overly-dramatic, but this post captures it perfectly. FUCK I'm going to miss that guy.
This is, without any doubt, the douchiest response to a thread that has ever existed. So tired. Stop.

Yes.
So did I. One of my favorite wolverines ever. A great player, but more importantly, a great person.
b-b-b-bone-bone-bone-bone-bone . . .
Most of mine were against citing random unreviewed internet articles, though.

I think I heard that UM can't apply until after next year. Don't know if that's true.

Congrats on the win. But . . . too soon. Way too soon.
HUZZAH!!!
Hours later, I moderate your post as "Informative!"
No, like Tom Brady, but faster than Denard!
Go Green. Go Blue. (?)
Meh. FUCK OHIO! GO BLUE!
*Yet.
Simply fantastic. 60 minutes of unnecessary prancing.

Too soon.
Just woke up, and I logged in specifically to say: WORST SPORTS DAY EVER. That is all.
IU is looking like they might run away with this. GO HOOSIERS! BEAT STAEE!!!
Well, there you have it. Cheap shot on the punter. Nice, Sparty.

I'm just happy that I didn't hear Journey or "In the Big House" (except, of course, at the golf course, unfortunately).
