[Bryan Fuller]

On the roundtable this week:

  • Not great gameplan, Bob.
  • I compare Ed to a twitter egg because he says "I liked Durkin before I got more data" like twitter eggs do.
  • Basketballin': Moritz McGary comin', Duncan Robinson is unconscious, etc.

I've listened to a lot of these round tables, and for such a smart guy (not sarcastic here), Ed Feng comes with some seriously illogical, uninformed, sports fan takes. I don't get it because he is literally a scientist, highly educated, and an advanced stats sports writer.

I agree at times, but at the same time sometimes he legitimately does have some good points and they get dismissed with some faux-exasperation by the rest of the guys on the panel.  I mean, for better or for worse he did call Minnesota being a close game, and I think he was lower on UM's chances against IU than the rest.

What got me was that Brian kept arguing against the fact that, yes, the team kind of struggled all year against certain types of rushing attacks, like Utah, and it wasn't all scheme.  The LBs haven't been great all year, and so it bit them in the butt here as well.  It was a holistic issue, and yes the defensive line didn't help out, but there were absolutely plays where better LBs hold a run to 8 yards instead of 25.

I guess I don't think someone should get credit for calling a close game when they have no or poor logic behind their reasoning.  Did Ed call ridiculously luck pass plays which we're not Minnesota's game the reason it would be close?  No, he didn't.  So he shouldn't get much credit there.  And while most everyone agrees the LBs have not been great this year, I have to agree with the rest of the panel that Ed is choosing poor examples to try and make his point.  The Utah game?  They held Booker to 3.1 yards per carry.  That's good.  And Utah is a good team.  And UM out gained them and held their O to 17 points.  They did not struggle in that game.  Even the QB runs only resulted in 50-something yards.  His arguments just don't make logical sense to me sometime unless he's actually talking about math, and then he makes sense.

Your lack of self-awareness is astounding.

"I compare Ed to a twitter egg because he says "I liked Durkin before I got more data" like twitter eggs do."

You say this after loving Durkin all year and then tweeting this gem out:

"Bright side of getting bombed for 350 rushing yards: when your DC leaves immediately afterward it's kind of a relief."
