Yesterdays Crystal Balls regarding Jalen Wilson and Keion Brooks....
Jalen Wilson picked up another ball for us yesterday. But i think we all pretty much know how that is going to go.
HOWEVER, Keion Brooks, the 5* SF that was heavily trending towards MSU, picked up 2 Kentucky balls yesterday.
This is fairly big, as Brooks was the most likely of the top 50's to land at MSU, since Romeo Weems, widely expected to go to MSU, announced for DePaul last minute, and Vernon Carey expected to land at Duke or local Miami.
It is possible Izzo whiffs hard this recruiting class. :)
Carton's video was great.... loved this kids aggressiveness, which is EXACTLY what we need... players like these tend to uptick the entire team's swag and toughness and take on their personality.... polar opposite of having a soft Donnal type.
Do we actually have a chance at McDaniels? Is he even visiting? I hope so, I think a lot of people are just getting their hopes up about him just because Beilein is reaching out.
Is Juwan Howard even in his ear? I think that is overblown.
their asses with 5 star McDonalds All America's, so it really doesn't matter. I hope we can fill Charles Matthews spot if he decides to go pro. Is it 2 late?
scholarship chart, we already have one open spot for 2018-19
EDIT Think you may have edited your post; thought you had asked if we had an open spot.
If he leaves for the NBA, Michigan's ceiling for next season definitely drops. I can't see a grad transfer, even if we could find one, nearly picking up the slack. And there probably aren't any good enough high school guys left in the 2018 class who have any interest in MIchigan.
I don't think looking at season long stats tells the story for Matthews. He picked it up a TON down the stretch, especially in the BTT and NCAAs. He'll be a loss for sure, but not a devastating one. Just means one of the freshman will have to take a bigger role on earlier.
Say what you will about his regular season performance, but he looked like a 2nd round NBA draft pick in the tournament.
True, he doesn't deserve deity status. But he is still a 2-year player in Beilein's system, which we all know is hard on freshmen.
If matthews leaves now we have no room for someone with 2 years of eligibility left. We need his spot next year for recruits. We have 1 spot + matthews assuming hes definitely gone after next year + assumed playing time transfer and thats it. We're not going to trade a 2 year transfer for dj carton or juwans cousin.
it does matter. Sure, Beilein may beat him regularly no matter who Izzo signs. But I wouldn't mind the rest of the league beating him more often too. Having that translate into Izzo being less competition on the recruiting trail would be a bonus.
you nailed it!
Beilein with 3 and 4 stars >>>> Izzo with 5 stars
Izzo won the National championship last year with Bridges and Jackson! What?? He lost to who?? Oh my...last year must have been very tough on Tom.
I mean, they did win the Big Ten regular season title so the season wasn't a complete loss.
I am going to have to agree with Capt Obvious on this one...
I gotta think Izzo is going pro at some point, no ? If he cannot win with the players last year, then why bother....
Didn't you hear, he's been through too much to leave now.
to make the owners happy. He wasn't a serious candidate. I doubt he's getting his first NBA job in his mid 60s.
They goin DOWN!
has the potential to be a gret few years of basketball. Beilein might finally get that recruiting bump we hoped he would get after his first title game, couple that with Izzp taking a hit because of the early tourney losses along with everythign else goin on there.
BTW--Googled it and Jalen Wilson is supposed to be announcing at 5:00.
