We just blew out an above average conference team on the road after taking one on the chin right before halftime. I'm not going to complain about anything. LFG!
October 2nd, 2021 at 4:35 PM ^
I know this wasn’t a great Wisconsin team that UM just rolled in their own barn, so I am calling for Moopets rather than Muppets.
October 2nd, 2021 at 5:02 PM ^
That’s a typo.
October 2nd, 2021 at 5:11 PM ^
But aren't you concerned about RB recruiting? Why would anyone want to come here if all we do is throw bombs to our WRs and let our QBs sneak it in if we get close on the goal line?
October 4th, 2021 at 9:08 AM ^
is this serious or hyperbole?
October 2nd, 2021 at 3:26 PM ^
Scored points on almost every second half possession until the very last one. Great response to bad end of first half. Dominated.
October 2nd, 2021 at 10:28 PM ^
My only real complaint, why are they having Bowman throw on a 3rd and 5 with 1:37 to play up 38 to 10??
October 3rd, 2021 at 7:25 AM ^
I thought about that too. But give the fourth team QB a chance. How many is he going to get. I love the thought that our fourth team quarterback was in the game (at Wisconsin!) because we were so far ahead.
October 3rd, 2021 at 9:46 AM ^
I would have felt better about it had they crossed midfield.
October 3rd, 2021 at 10:47 AM ^
I think if the Wisconsin starting QB had stayed in the game it would have been a lot closer score. Michigan still was the better team anyway.

Because that's what teams should do to create real depth. Give players a chance to actually play rather than just run hand offs.
October 3rd, 2021 at 8:27 AM ^
Obviously this was at the heart of the game planning: "What can we do to give the fans something to complain about-at the end of a dominant victory?"
October 3rd, 2021 at 12:48 PM ^
Why shouldn't he be allowed to throw?
I'm all for clearing the bench in a blowout, but the reserves should be allowed to run the normal offense.
October 2nd, 2021 at 3:27 PM ^
Not perfect, left points on the field and had some miscues but fuck, this offense is improving and looked very good today against a good defense, on the road!
October 2nd, 2021 at 5:16 PM ^
The team is improving is what excites me the most.
October 2nd, 2021 at 6:00 PM ^
Yes, lots of dudes in the making. Ojabo, Hinton, Cornelius Johnson, Roman Wilson, JJ, linebackers, OL, All, Robbins, Moody. They look to join stars including the Haskins, Corum, Hutchinson, Dax, Josh Ross.
October 2nd, 2021 at 6:39 PM ^
Man, Ojabo was everywhere today, bringing pressure all day from the edge. Pairing today's performance with last week's big play moment against Rutgers suggests he is definitely an emerging playmaker on defense and a guy that is going to be a problem for opposing offenses as the season continues. Same can be said with Hinton. He was outstanding last week against Rutgers and felt like he followed that up with another strong performance today. Mazi Smith did some nice things today as well. If those three continue to improve as the season goes on, we're going to have something cooking on defense come November.
Roman Wilson had a really nice day, and it looks like some receivers are starting to emerge in the absence of Ronnie Bell. CoJo I thought was up and down today. It was good to see him post a couple touchdowns, but his routes to me looked a little sloppy at times, and he had some issues with drops and tracking the ball in the air. Good to see the passing game show up today, but perhaps we're seeing what the coaches wanted to continue rehearsing in practice some more before putting it on the field on Saturdays.
Love to see how Dax responded in the third quarter after getting dimed a few times by Mertz. You could just feel based on his play that he didn't like that, and was damn sure going to do something about it. What else can you say about Hutch and Ross. Those guys come to play every single week. Great team win, and you could really feel the progress the team is making in this game.
A much deserved celebration tonight and then on to Nebreaska! I get the sense this team knows nothing of significance is won in October.
October 2nd, 2021 at 3:27 PM ^
A much more balanced attack. Great 2nd half this week. No complaints. BIG WIN! Better than expected. GO BLUE!!
October 2nd, 2021 at 3:27 PM ^
Low leverage turnovers are my favorite turnovers.
October 2nd, 2021 at 3:33 PM ^
I want to complain about giving them a free touchdown, but i can't. Maybe we just gave Wisconsin some confidence to not go 1-11 for the season and bounce back with their Cincinnati-athlete-of-the-year backup QB.
October 2nd, 2021 at 3:27 PM ^
Hell yes. I’m thrilled.
October 2nd, 2021 at 3:28 PM ^
Excellent. Wisconsin was a bad matchup for our run game… and still ran the ball enough. Cade was terrific, even unlucky not to have even better numbers.
This is the complementary passing attack we needed. Really, almost everything you want from this team.
October 3rd, 2021 at 7:39 AM ^
Cade struggled on the intermediate stuff throwing a lot of balls low and behind. But he was on when it came to long throws.
October 3rd, 2021 at 8:56 AM ^
I agree with everything you said here. Full stop.
Now for the Debbie Downer part only because this is the specific offense thread: I was frustrated with the play calling at some points, especially because unless I missed a play, I didn't see a single instance where we tried to get Corum in space, through the passing game or outside the hash. Just repeated up the middle calls for him. And prior to the TD pass from JJ, when he came into the game it was like posting a sign that said "QB read option here."
So the result was great, but I still see signs offensively that are worrying
October 2nd, 2021 at 3:28 PM ^
Solid in every respect on offense. Good play calling. Above average / excellent execution. Both O line and D line looked great.
October 2nd, 2021 at 3:29 PM ^
Cade was good today, the receivers are starting to come into form and we ran pretty well against a stout run defense.
Also, JJ can still throw. This is fun.
October 2nd, 2021 at 5:09 PM ^
I had the feeling that the receivers didn't run very disciplined routes, mostly in the first half, and that led to a number of Cades incompletions
October 2nd, 2021 at 5:44 PM ^
Interesting, I thought Cade was just missing them (mid range). I was more referencing the big catches in the second half that we haven't made in a while.
You could be right though about the routes.
October 2nd, 2021 at 6:53 PM ^
There were at least 4 that received got 2 hands on in the first half, those were drops and not bad passes
October 2nd, 2021 at 3:29 PM ^
They threw the ball.
yeah
October 2nd, 2021 at 3:32 PM ^
Pretty fucking great
October 2nd, 2021 at 3:32 PM ^
Very happy to see that we do in fact have a creative offense. Still wonder what we were doing in the second half of Rutgers other than maybe just holding out plays.
One thing that I do think is a interesting dichotomy with our quarterbacks is that Cade makes all of the right reads and clearly knows the offense extremely well. The problem is he doesn’t have the legs or the arm strength to execute it at 100%. Then you have JJ who has above average athleticism and arm but probably doesn’t know the offense very well.
October 2nd, 2021 at 8:23 PM ^
Seems like it takes an hour for some of Cade's mid-range throws to get there. But he makes the most of his ability.
October 3rd, 2021 at 7:38 AM ^
That's partly why there was sniping over not throwing the ball much in the first 4 games; it would have been helpful to give both QB's a chance to make reads in live action and give the WR's some practice adapting to different defenses in live action.
But, what's done is done and I'm glad they took some big strides yesterday.
October 2nd, 2021 at 3:32 PM ^
Moved the ball in the air and on the ground. Got JJ meaningful time. Receivers really came into their own today. AND we didn’t go into a shell when we had the lead. Great job. Build on this outing next week. Go Blue!
October 2nd, 2021 at 3:32 PM ^
Would love to see them add a dedicated WR coach next season but they look good enough to setup a really exciting year next season.
October 2nd, 2021 at 3:32 PM ^
This is for Jim Muhfuckin' Harbaugh. Great gameplanning and execution of that gameplan against really good Wisconsin defense. Harbaugh deserves the credit and our love.

October 2nd, 2021 at 3:33 PM ^
39.8 ppg and one (fourth-string QB) turnover for the season so far. Only negatives are that a schedule that looked very tough before the season hasn't been very impressive and the second half last week was rough. After a dominating road win in a place that hasn't been kind to the Wolverines this century, I'm happy.
October 2nd, 2021 at 4:33 PM ^
WMU has won all their games except us. Northern Illinois seems to be decent relatively. We’ll see with Washington they’ve got a couple of wins.
Rutgers? Meh.

All i know is replace 2001 with 2021 with the last time we won on Madison... Cheers !!
October 2nd, 2021 at 3:36 PM ^
Great game. 38 points at Camp Randall. Wisky Defense has talent. Cade played well. Eluded sacks at critical times and took care of football, taking advantage of our good defense. JJ played well. Corum and Haskins played well. Wilson fantastic catch and game. Room for improvement yes, both in some throws and missed catches. Great performance and best win of year imho so far.
October 2nd, 2021 at 3:37 PM ^
I like the JJ AND Cade move. Play them both in situations that play to their skills.
October 2nd, 2021 at 3:50 PM ^
Could be a game-changer in the next few games to have the zone read in case our run game stalls out
October 2nd, 2021 at 5:15 PM ^
As long as they are willing to break tendency by having Cade pull it every so often. Otherwise, you are just telegraphic plays with personnel.
Personally I was kind of hoping for the Lloyd Carr Brady/Henson rotation where you give them each a quarter then ride the hot hand in the 2nd half. But whatever works...
