Winovich. Stay or go?

Submitted by philidor's legacy on

Harbaugh says Winovich knows what he is going to do at the end of the season and Chase will let us all know. I enjoy watching him play and want him to return. What's your guess? WIll he stay or go?

I actually agree with this, I think he is a good player, but also in the right scheme with several other stud dlineman along side of him I believe he benefited greatly from hurst and Gary being on the field next to him. I hope he stays but if wavering at all before making the decision he should go. I hope he does well either way

i guess the question is: can he improve his draft stock by sticking around for another year?

i hope he stays and finishes his degree but wouldn't think it is a bad decision for him to take a jump to the nfl now.

He's a RS Jr so he doesn't need to come back to graduate.

As far as staying or going, I say strike while the iron is hot. Could he improve his stock? Possibly, but he's already a 3rd round guy, maybe late 2nd, so unless he REALLY improves over the next year he probably won't move up to 1st/2nd rd status.

Would absolutely love to see him back but if I were him I'd go. Degree in hand and on to the NFL. Best of luck to him regardless.

Hope he stays but if wants to go make some money I can’t say I’d blame him. His stock may never be higher and there’s no guarantee he wouldn’t get injured next season.

As long as he does what is best for him and his family, then he’s doing the right thing.

I don't think he is staying. I like the kid and want him to stay, but he has said he is in a no lose situation. He thinks it will work out fine for him if he stays or goes, how many kids in that situation wait another year to get rich?

Think of it this way, Mr. Winovich:

You have one more possible year of college ball, in a town that is the home of the world's greatest university, and where you are a revered player. It is a place where you could be part of something special.

You have X number of years as a pro. You may be revered - or you may bounce around from team to team as a hired gun. Maybe you'll be part of success, or maybe not.

When you're 60 years old and look back at it all, which are you going to wish you had done?

Best of luck in whatever you choose.

I was in Ann Arbor last week, talked with a member of the defensive coaching staff who said he’s staying. Take it for what’s its worth, straight from a staff member. Just my luck he leaves now.

Stay! Set the example for the up and comers to enjoy college and get that degree.

Side note: one can’t help but wonder what Jabrill would of done this year!

You can’t get your twenties back and college is one of the best experiences you will ever have. A side from having kids and getting married....that last one is probably debatable haha.

Go blue ! Happy Holidays M fam.

Think he bumps his stock up if he comes back and performs. Would wish him the best if he goes to get a check, but I think scouts are pretty much saying he needs to come back to develop more.

NFLdraftscout.com has him as the #8 DE. He has a posted 40 of as fast as 4.72. Not outside of the realm of reality for him to also play OLB for a fewe defenses. There is a boatload of talent waiting to hit the field next season in his absence. He has been leaning to coming out but that could've changed. He's a hell of a player and it's crazy to remember him as a 200 pound safety on his visit. He's gonna play ball a long time.

Didn't see this posted above but Chase turns 23 in April. If he stays another year he will be 24 at the 2019 draft. Hopefully he did a decision tree that factored in his improved yearly earning potential over a career that is one year shorter vs. a longer career (maybe) with a slightly higher probability that he doesn't stick in the NFL. Not sure what I would do if I were him.

experiences that. Even fewer have a clear cut decision in front of them on whether or not they want to continue that period of greatness for yet one more trip around the block.  Now Peppers left, Mo came back, Graham came back, Butt came back. We're aware of how these turned out and there's nothing we can do except state what we would do and something tells me he isn't listening and I think the big guy said he already knew what he was doing, although he may have not shared it with his coach.

This past summer a group of us got together, players and coaches and celebrated a championship, a group of players who had played with each other since they were in like second grade and this was the first trophy that was not handed out for participation, although I would have purchased them all trophies anyway because they went from 3rd grade through 11th without losing a game. That's a hell of an accomplishment. It was the last one I would be with many of them because I took the job with the school and more than I thought decided against playing at the bigger levels. This is what Chase and his teammates will look back on from this point backward already. They've been fucking great and I can see why he might want to do it to be recognized as a member of the greatest defense in the nation. It could happen and that's pretty heady stuff. But fully understandable as well should he say we'll always be great and our memories, whether I come back or leave are pretty damn amazing now. Think the clincher is if he somehow is able to answer the question will he get nearly as much fun as playing for a paycheck than he does just going out there and wrecking people.

Hey, he's brought us a lot of good times already and as long as he protects himself insurance wise for maxium, i'm o.k. with whatever he decides. True Michigan Man.

That's a FACT, and he went late 1st round. If I was Chase I would come back and move up the draft and refine his craft.

Peppers would of ran all of college football had he came back.

I don’t think this one is close, he’s a high third or a fourth rounder right now at best. Another year in a high profile defense will serve him well to bump towards the middle/bottom of the second round.

He's gone.  The risk of injury is just too great.  Unfortunately he is too small to play in the the NFL and I don't know if another year of college is going to change that.

I know a guy who went to high school with Chase's dad.  I asked him if he was coming back or going to the NFL...

He said, "how the fuck would I know?  I went to school with his dad like 30 years ago and haven't talked to him since the last reunion."

I tried.
