I'm not sold that this windy prediction will be have any affect on the game.

First of all, the weather has changed about ten times in the last week. With it only being Wednesday night, the wind might not be there (look at Fridays forecast).

Second of all, I personally cannot remember a game in the Big House where the wind was a major factor. I remember rain on several occasions really messing things up, but it would have to be extremely windy.

Third, our offense is not going to be lofting the ball into the air 40 yards downfield except on punts. We are going to run the ball a lot, and many of our passes will be in the short and intermediary range. If anything, a strong wind may protect us from the deep play-action pass that they will be looking to hurt us with. The higher and farther you try to throw the ball, the more wind will be a factor.

its just "wind".  damn we need saturday to get here...

if the forecast called for gale force wind 30-40 mph then i could see a thread for it...

if it is really windy that may be in our favor as it may make UConn second guess throwing bombs to test our weak secondary.  i could see them trying to pound the ball on the ground then airing out some deep ones, but if it is really windy then perhaps they wont for fear of wobbly interseptions.  we are not a deep ball team so not a big deal for us... again, if its crazy windy....

The Weather Channel doesn't really say windy unless its going to be signifacantly windy ie 25 mph winds plus... I just brought it up as food for thought... I too cannot wait for saturday to get here and enjoy my beer and tailgate fare on the golf course ;)

Your best-case scenario is for the storm to be close enough to suck in all of the moisture, leaving your day cooler, crisp, and dry, but far enough away that the wind is negligible.  That is what we have been getting in Florida the last couple of days.  It has been gorgeous: almost no clouds and lower humidity.  It has cooled us off a little, too.

Besides, the re-dedication deserves a postcard day.

Wonder how the new box seats will affect the wind inside the stadium. Looks like the wind will be coming mainly out of the west, so much of that will likely be blocked. Could see some swirls in the endzones, as it comes around the N/S ends of the new construction. I can definitely see high wind being a factor if it is blowing straight north or south.

In any regard, with temps in the mid 60s it will feel like the PERFECT FALL DAY for a football game. Can't wait!

Our offense seems to utilize the short passing game (atleast last year and this spring) and the shoter passes shouldn't be as affected by the wind.  I would count this as a plus since our secondary is what it is and maybe our smaller freshmen CB's could actually get pushed into better postion by the wind.

A run heavy team like UConn probably anticipates hitting some long play action passes if our secondary gets out of position trying to overplay the run.  High wind probably makes that much harder to execute.

On offense, I'd be shocked if we planned to throw it deep regardless of weather because I think RR realizes that turnover margin probably will dictate just how successful this team will be.
