Will Rudock make the team?

Submitted by The Man Down T… on

I don't have NFL Ticket and can't see many Lion's games out here in North Carolina so I can't get a feel for how he's doing.   I've never wanted someone to make a team more than this.  It would be the cool storybook ending to Jake's journey.  What's the feeling back home?  Is he going to be there on opening day?

If the Lions had a semi-competent coach, he'd be a lock to make it with the current roster. Even if he wasn't performing better than Orlovsky (which he is), it would make sense to take the young guy. Alas, Jim Caldwell.

Orlovsky started 5 games for the Colts in Caldwell's last year in Indy (2-14 season). That's the only reason I can think of why they even brought Orlovsky back in Detroit. It honestly makes zero sense to bring back someone from the 0-16 team, especially since the "safety" was one of the most embarrassing moments in NFL history.

he is a practice squad QB. They'd be foolish to toss him to the practice squad when you have teams like Denver who would snatch him. He's a Todd Collins, great for the team and so so starter imo.

I think he makes the team.

My opinion is that the new GM, who is a talent guru, will see Rudock as a leader and the future.  Orlovsky is getting up there and will never be starter material.  Stafford is not a leader and his ceiling has been evident over his NFL career...at least within the shitty Lions organization.  Anywhere else he probably would have been a multiple SuperBowl QB.

I'm torn...careers with the Lions are typically wasted.  Almost wish Rudock were at another team.

if so, the programming would go something like this:

if lions involved, any decision by the lions will be wrong in an epic fashion

taking rudock is the most logical decision

therefore, n = 0 as it relates to the chance of rudock making the lions roster

We'll see after next week. I hope he does because Orlovsky just makes boneheaded mistakes. A lot of people thought we signed Kellen Moore to replace Orlovsky 2 years ago. Plus, I just wanna see Rudock play. I would imagine they'll practice squad him, at the least.

If he didn't go to Michigan / I didn't have a bias toward him, I would say he was pretty terrible. Don't think he makes it.  He and Dan O aren't any good.

Jim Caldwell isn't making it to week 8. The Lions will then have the distinction of having the first NFL head coach named Cooter.

It seems like he's the backup, or at least neck and neck behind Stafford. I know Caldwell likes veterans, but this team can carry 3 QBs and I assume Rudock is a better long term option compared to Orlovsky.
