Why so long before the "Catch" was overturned?
After Devin's "Catch" that was eventually overturned, why did it take us so long to run a play? I understand we were probably trying to kill clock. But by doing that it killed our drive. Regardless of clock we could have got up there ran a denard run and got 3 more downs to kill clock. By running a play they couldnt review it. It also stopped the clock once it was ruled anincompletion. I think we sould have had an extra series. By running a play after the refs ruled it a first down would have kept the clock rolling. I think our coaches gave Air Force one more posession.

incomplete, not an interception.
Fitz was visibly frustrated that the ball was not snapped sooner.
There was some poor clock management during the game, especially at the end of the first half.

I kept telling my tv that I wanted the ball snapped immediately so that there would be no official review. So I blame the oafs at Sony for that little mishap . . .

I was watching from PHX. The ESPN feed died right after play was suspended pending review. The delay may have been related to a TV time out, to allow them to address the outage issue.
For me, viewing was again possible with Air Force already in possession, and on second down.

DirecTV or Cox?

I'm in Avondale with COX and it happened to me. The TV and internet stream went out. Which was fine, I needed a breather, blood was coming out of my ears yelling for Denard to snap the f*cking football.

I know you were probably frantic, but the answer is on the board...check the sticky post "How to Listen to the Game...Anywhere"
Best method to listen over the net currently is probably to use the Iheartradio app/website and tune to 1300 WOOD radio in Grand Rapids, they have the game on.

Sorry, I did not understand your post.
It seemd to me that they could have hurried a snap to avoid the review, like some one else implied.
I thought the post related to the delay following the suspension of play due to the review.

I think even if we snapped the refs would have blown it dead, saying they were buzzed before the snap. I see that all the time, so I do not really think it was a big deal. Plus, we won, who cares.

It's stupid that you can cheat the replay by quick snapping the ball anyway. He didn't catch the ball. They got the call right. I don't care that we didn't game the system. I want them to get the calls right, even if that means we don't benefit. Getting the call right should be the main goal.
September 9th, 2012 at 1:32 AM ^
Okay, then let's go back and re-officiate the illegal forward motion and illegal chop block non-calls.
Particularly on the forward motion. I don't know what amazes me more, that the refs didn't call it or ESPN had no comment on it.
September 9th, 2012 at 8:53 AM ^
I especially on one of the touchdowns in the thrid quarter I think. The motion guy was almost past the ball when they snapped it. I couldnt believe the espn guys missed that either. there were a bunch of bad chop blocks. On an Outside zone play one of their DTs dove into Mealers legs and the play was totally outside him. I thougt that was the worst one because it was a "High-Low" on an O-Lineman, which is illegal. That is how you get people seriously hurt.
The refs didnt call those blocks but call 2 D-Holding calls on Campbell...Geez

Have to agree. I was hoping to rush up a play to avoid the replay, but it does feel kind of shady to do that.
September 9th, 2012 at 1:43 AM ^
I agree, the refs got the call right, and we won. The only thing that could have been changed is the time management before the end of the first regardless we are moving on to UMASS week!
September 9th, 2012 at 10:47 AM ^
I hear that!
Look at what happened to Purdue. They were screwed royally by the pylon call, and the non-call on the delay of game on the final drive.
Hail to the Victors!

You're right, and if that play doesn't get overturned, that's the lead story for all the highlight reels about the game, and the presumption that would go along with it, that Michigan had to "cheat" to win. Gardner should have caught that ball, though; it shouldn't have been an issue.
September 9th, 2012 at 11:06 AM ^
Air Force was running hurry-up nearly the entire game to prevent us from making defensive substitutions. Is that cheating too? No, it is how the rules work. Similarly, if you get a snap off, there is no replay. That is also how the rules work. Should Devin have stood up after the non-catch and waved his arms to indicate that the pass was incomplete? I am all for having integrity, but you don't have to do the referees' jobs for them.
Since we got screwed on half a dozen non-called illegal motion penalties on them, I would have called it even.
Also, Devin is 8 feet tall and a great leaper. Hopefully next time Denard puts the ball up higher and doesn't make our newest WR have to dig it out.

I was like snap the ball and the old dude next to me was like we wanna burn the clock, I was like.... ........dooooooooooom

yeah...like, my 11 year old twin daughters were like...hey, like why r they doin that, like...and i was like,...don't know....maybe they don't like the call....and then my cousin was like...snap it, and his wife was like...burn clock.............i didn't like any of it...........................................like.

the fact that it was an easy pitch and catch that was thrown into the ground. or that devin has to keep his hands under the ball.

Denard was looking to the officials to allow him to snap the ball...it was a 1st down so the refs have to give the signal that the markers are set...it wasnt our fault
September 9th, 2012 at 8:56 AM ^
That makes sense. Since my feed went out here in Ohio, I couldnt see that part. Mine cut out then came back and they were reviewing the play. Then it cut out again.

If that call was not reversed it would have been the reason we won the game so I'm glad it turned out the way it did and the defense won the game for us in the end.

The student section was literally shouting "snap the ball".
I was very confused as to why they stood there. Yes, milk the clock, but the catch was controversial, move on so they can't review it! It took the refs awhile to actually call the review, plenty of time.
