Who is your "That guy is STILL playing?" player for this year?
August 23rd, 2022 at 10:29 PM ^
Nice find Mr Lombardi.
August 24th, 2022 at 5:29 AM ^
And it seems like he still has one more year of eligibility past this year. I count one standard redshirt in 2015 (!!), two regular playing years (2016, 2018), three medical redshirts (17, 19, 21) and the COVID year. That leaves two years.
From the (very good) Athletic article: “Pugh redshirted his first season. He served as a backup in 2016. The season opener of Pugh’s redshirt freshman season came against a Wyoming offense piloted by Josh Allen. In 2017, Pugh won a starting job but tore a biceps tendon in the Huskies’ fourth game and received a medical redshirt. In 2018, Pugh played in every game, earning second-team All-MAC honors after racking up 106 tackles. One of those games came against Utahand receiver Britain Covey, another class of 2015 player who finally finished his college football career last year.
Two games into the 2019 season, Pugh broke the shoulder socket in his other arm and missed the rest of the season. He played in five of Northern Illinois’ six games in 2020, but that year didn’t count toward anyone’s eligibility. In 2021, Pugh tore an ACL on the final day of spring practice and received another medical redshirt.”

Ronnie Bell.
August 23rd, 2022 at 10:22 PM ^
You're a decent cat and have long been accepted here. You're one of the good ones! And I'm pretty sure you've never soiled a cooler in anger.
But I had to neg you on this one. Ronnie Bell is not for you...

Buckeye, Ronnie Bell has one more year left after this year. Enjoy!

Zach Harrison….Haskins just ran over him again for a TD
August 23rd, 2022 at 10:02 PM ^
Adrian Martinez
August 23rd, 2022 at 10:06 PM ^
Do announcers count? If so, I’d have to go with Keith Jackson.
August 23rd, 2022 at 10:13 PM ^
that's a stretch, stretch
August 23rd, 2022 at 10:57 PM ^
How is his health these days? I haven't heard much about him recently.
August 23rd, 2022 at 10:24 PM ^
Brad Robbins?
August 23rd, 2022 at 10:24 PM ^
I feel like people are saying Adrian Martinez because their previous quarterback was Taylor Martinez, who shared a last name and, seemingly, all the same flaws.
August 23rd, 2022 at 10:37 PM ^
I feel like Nebraska gets a guy and just rides him out for 4 years no matter how he plays. Taylor Martinez it felt like was there forever, followed by Armstrong who I thought was there forever as well
August 23rd, 2022 at 10:25 PM ^
Urban Meyer still gets employed
Chad Henne has made a wonderful career in the NFL
August 24th, 2022 at 1:54 AM ^
So has Tom Brady
August 24th, 2022 at 8:18 AM ^
Also same recruiting class as Chad Henne and notable clipboard holder to star QB Tom Brady, Brian Hoyer.
August 23rd, 2022 at 10:41 PM ^
Drew Singleton. Mostly because I remember him best as the Paramus linebacker when his HS played at the Big House.
August 23rd, 2022 at 11:10 PM ^
I was just about to add this!
Paramus played at the big house in 2016 right? I remember the recruiting hype around all things Jersey in 2016
August 23rd, 2022 at 10:52 PM ^
Dorian Thompson-Robinson
August 24th, 2022 at 9:38 AM ^
This is a sneaky good pick.
August 23rd, 2022 at 10:56 PM ^
With redshirts and the COVID year, this should be interesting this season.
This answer is always Robbie Hummel and Perry Ellis.
But for conversation sake, Adrian Martinez is definitely #1 for me. The Taylor Martinez effect makes it so much worse.
Sean Clifford is #2.
Sam Hartman is #3.
...Did you know, Illinois leads the conference in super seniors? Rutgers is #2. Michigan is in the bottom 3.
August 23rd, 2022 at 11:19 PM ^
Brian Cardinal
August 24th, 2022 at 2:01 AM ^
Is this a fair entry haha? Similar to the Nebraska Martinez illusion, the Brian Cardinal illusion is that he looked so old he could qualify for Social Security.
August 24th, 2022 at 11:26 AM ^
The original Robbie Hummel.
August 24th, 2022 at 3:38 AM ^
SR LB, William Wagoner. I think he was a 4 star from GA. But I have not heard much from him. Unless he is a special team contributor?
August 24th, 2022 at 12:22 PM ^
Will Wagner? He's the long snapper. He wasn't a 4-star, though. Maybe a 4-star long snapper, I guess...
August 24th, 2022 at 6:44 AM ^
I’m sure Rivas will pop out of the locker room at some point for his 18th year of eligibility.
August 24th, 2022 at 6:59 AM ^
Sean Clifford
August 24th, 2022 at 7:22 AM ^
Feels like Mohamed Ibrahim has been at Minnesota since the Jerry Kill era.
August 24th, 2022 at 7:58 AM ^
I’m sure Aaron Craft, aka Gritty McGritterson, probably still has a remaining year of eligibility left somewhere, somehow.
August 24th, 2022 at 8:09 AM ^
I'm going with Bo Nix playing QB for Oregon, after throwing a game-winning TD against them as a true frosh in 2019. The portal makes it possible!
August 24th, 2022 at 8:45 AM ^
For me, this one is easy. Seems like Michael Barrett has been at Michigan for like 7 years. And glad to still have him on the roster.
August 24th, 2022 at 8:45 AM ^
Jaime Jaquez for UCLA hoops. Not sure why but starting to feel like a Perry Ellis at Kansas type of situation
August 24th, 2022 at 8:58 AM ^
I think Adrian Martinez is a 10th year junior. After 9 seasons at Nebraska he transferred somewhere, but I can't remember where. Pretty sure it re-sets the eligibility clock for him, so he will be playing college ball into his 40s.
August 24th, 2022 at 9:05 AM ^
Minnie Minoso. Only major leaguer to play in FIVE decades (1946-1982). Yeah, yeah, he's dead now (2015), but his feat will never be matched.
August 24th, 2022 at 11:55 AM ^
gordie howe says, 'hello minnie' - 1946-1980, and the greatest to ever play the game
August 24th, 2022 at 5:21 PM ^
True, but hard to count Gordies years in the B League, whatever it was called then (WHA?). Minoso's were all in The Show.
August 24th, 2022 at 8:26 PM ^
Don’t forget. - Gordie played in the 90’s too. https://ftw.usatoday.com/2016/06/gordie-howe-mr-hockey-detroit-vipers
August 24th, 2022 at 9:27 AM ^
Easiest answer is Tanner Morgan, Paris Johnson and Sean Clifford in the B1G. Martinez at QB for KSU also up there, and I'm sure some Indiana kicker whos an absolute stud.
August 24th, 2022 at 9:31 AM ^
I checked and apparently he's not on Tennessee's roster but also isn't in the NFL/has another year of eligibility, but Aubrey Solomon jumped to mind as a guy who I thought was still in college despite being from the late Jurassic period.
August 24th, 2022 at 10:06 AM ^
Adrian Martinez?
August 24th, 2022 at 11:27 AM ^
1) Tanner Morgan- Minn. He also played for P J Fleck at WMU before the Minn gig. Isn't he 30 years old now?
2) Shawn Clifford- Penn State. They say it's year 5, seems like his 6th year.
That's all I got.
August 24th, 2022 at 11:55 AM ^
Alex "Vision Quest" Kozan
August 24th, 2022 at 12:20 PM ^
Chuck Filiaga. He was recruited in the 2017 class, along with Corey Malone-Hatcher and JaRaymond Hall.
August 25th, 2022 at 11:04 PM ^
And Derrick Green and Henry Poggi.
