Who's hurt or nicked up on our team?

Anyone who wasn't healthy before that's using the bye week to recover for next week's Purdue game?

Woolfolk, Barnum, Herron, and Cam Gordon should all benefit a lot from the bye week. All of them have been day to day for weeks (the coaching staff doesn't like to tip their hand about injuries), so hopefully they can be good to go for the rest of this schedule.

In all due respect I highly doubt Al called it in a hurricane with a QB who couldn't hit the ocean from the beach the day it was called.

I really like our coaching staff and I think they've done a hellofa job so far. But that particular call at that particular point in the game? Not so much.

It is like a lot of big time plays in all sports that a coach calls. If it goes right he is a freaking hero, if it goes wrong..WTF was that.

Sucks we lost but I am over it finally. (took 5 days of me bitching to my family/friends) I am now more pissed at some reporters out there predicting the same outcome from last two seasons for Michigan...getting stomped in Big Ten play. They obiviously dont watch the games because we are a different team. Michigan will surprise people this second half in a good way.

1. Last year Borges was coaching a pocket statue in Lindley and now he coaches a guy the defense always has to keep an eye on as a ball carrier. You saw the results.

2. If he ran it twice last year for scores, most coaching staffs would have seen that on film and it would hardly be surprising.

Michigan didn't need a TD there. They needed a new set of downs and 4 shots at 6.

It was a horrible call and the game hinged on it.

in all of SDSU's losses last year including throwing 54 times against a pretty bad BYU team. I would say his history with abandoning the run is awful yet he did it last Saturday in a game with winds up to 45 mph. If you want to give him credit because he ran a play twice successfully last year you must also blame him for repeating what he did in four losses last year. He did benefit from playing against 6 defenses that were WORSE than Michigan's last year and a 4-7 FCS school.

But does anyone know why Toussaint only got two carries—I don't even think he got on the field at all during the second half. Was he injured? Or did the coaching staff just think he would not be the best running back for the situation?

[Edit. Never mind. He was in that fateful fourth down fake.]

Football players I've known have talked about a distinction between "hurt" and "injured."

At this point in the season, they are all "hurt." Every one of them. "Injured" is the designation that keeps you from playing.

I take from this that "healthy" is a relative term.

"Dude"? Really?

I've never heard of "The Program." So the only thing I can think is that (assuming you're at least partially right) those football players I talked to got it from there, and found that it comported with their experiences, and, therefore, relayed it to me.

Yep. This year's offense is not indicative of an Al Borges offense he's run at many places, and I applaud him for being bright enough and adaptable enough to work with Denard's skills. So far Denard hasn't been able to put up great numbers as a passer, but honestly that's a shortcoming of Denard as a player. There's only so much an offensive coordinator can do with an inaccurate quarterback who has poor mechanics and makes questionable decisions.

True. I guess that explains why he has 31 career touchdown passes and 25 touchdowns. And that's why he's thrown the second-most interceptions (10) in the NCAA, behind Central Michigan's Ryan Radcliff and tied with East Carolina's Dominique Davis. Let's blame it on the receivers.

There are 26 other new head coaches in FBS football, and many of them brought in new terminology and systems for everyone on the team to learn. There are receivers and quarterbacks learning fancy new routes, playcalls, etc. CMU and ECU are not on that list of new football coaches; they just have players who are doing poorly. Robinson threw the ball poorly as a freshman, threw 11 picks last year, and is now on pace to throw 18 or 19 interceptions this season (in a 13-game schedule).

We can defend Robinson all we want, but it doesn't change the fact that he's thrown a ton of these passes directly into the hands of defenders. Zero of these interceptions have been the type that deflected off of a receiver's hands and into the arms of waiting defensive backs. And he's lucky not to be tied for the most interceptions in the NCAA, because that duck he threw last Saturday down the middle of the field should have been picked off, too.

You mean the Borges offense as it's being run right now? Yeah, you're probably right. We don't have the beef up front to run power, and our #2 back Vincent Smith isn't really suited to it.

If you're talking about what Borges has run at times in the past, I disagree. He's perfectly capable of running a power offense. It just doesn't fit our personnel right now.

Once we gets guys like Chris Bryant and Kyle Kalis on the field, along with (hopefully) Bri'onte Dunn, Al Borges will be able to run a power offense.
