Who's got good news about the team?
I need something to distract me. Who's got good news about the team or the school or something? I just found out that my former boss, and one of my best friends, in the past week has had to have his knee replaced, and then just on Saturday, his two year old grandson died completely unexpectedly in his sleep.
It hit me like a ton of bricks and I have zero energy or anything now. I'm just... gone. So how about some tidbit you've been holding back. Do you know a player who had something cool to say? Did you eat at Blimpie Burger with Richard Ash and watch him eat 4 quints with egg?

We are 3-0 and our QB is in contention for the Heisman. With Bowling Green coming into town, followed by a relatively unscary Big Ten opener, we should be 5-0 heading into the heart of the schedule.
September 20th, 2010 at 11:03 AM ^
It's a little scary...it's probably more than a little scary.
September 20th, 2010 at 10:42 AM ^
And our Heisman candidate only turns 20 on Wednesday, which I already screwed up in a previous post....
September 20th, 2010 at 12:57 PM ^
Really? That's awesome. Everyone needs to send him cards or something. Maybe they'll say something about it on Saturday.

my issue

I am very sorry for your former bosses loss. The passing of a child is tragic.
As for happy news, a Five Guys Burger and Fries opened just down the street from me.
As for happier news, Michigan is 3-0 to start the season.
As for the happiest news in my world, my father appears to be healing and moving out of ICU today after an emergency amputation of his leg last week. Now on to learning to walk again.

They can do wonders with prosthetics these days.
September 20th, 2010 at 11:08 AM ^
They expect to have him on a temporary one in a couple of weeks. With permanent one in a couple of months once everything completely heals and shrinks to its final size.
September 20th, 2010 at 11:34 AM ^
It sounds like he 100% deserves a 1% Brock shirt though.
September 20th, 2010 at 12:28 PM ^
I am planning on outfitting him in a couple of "Impossible is Nothing" shirts to help keep him motiviated.
September 20th, 2010 at 10:48 AM ^
Are you talking about the Five Guys on State Street? Or are you talking about one outside Ann Arbor?
September 20th, 2010 at 10:57 AM ^
On Plymouth Road near Middlebelt.
September 20th, 2010 at 11:11 AM ^
Good luck to your father on his recovery and walking again. And burgers are always positive.

BALL for the interception and the punter doesn't fumble the snap, the 4th qtr would have been much different and a no one would be grumbling, at least not as much.
Finding out now who is ready to play and who is not is invaluable:
1) Gallon is not ready to be our punt return man right now
2) We can plan on going for it on 4th down from 20-35 yards out because we do not have anyone who can kick field goals.
3) Defense can see there mistakes and learn from them.
4) Iowa game seams a lot more winnable.
September 20th, 2010 at 11:16 AM ^
ImSoBlue,
4 great points. Gallow is definitely ready on the return. I like Stonum on the KO return. He hasn't been breaking many, but he also is consistently getting us past the 25, so fine. We desparately need a punt return specialist. We have a ton of these fist guys - why are none of them being talked about?
As for field goal kicking, yes, at this point, the only time I would attempt one on 4th down is if we are (1) in the redzone, (2) well centered on the field, and (3) the distance for first down is more than 5. Otherwise, I think we are a 4 down team from anywhere within opposing team's 40. I am sort of psyched about this, since there have been more than 1 mathematical studies into this on this blog indicating that this is the stastically proper move, anyway.
September 20th, 2010 at 11:51 AM ^
We played poorly and won. The weather was not too bad. We have an exciting offense. I think the special teams stuff is fixable. Beats being 1-2 like Angelique projected.
September 20th, 2010 at 10:52 AM ^
We won on a fake field goal in overtime. Oh... wait... sorry, recent thread focus had me confused.

Our women and engineers are still safe.
September 20th, 2010 at 11:05 AM ^
But what about our couches?!?! Won't someone please think of the couches?!?!?
Have I been drinking this morning?
September 20th, 2010 at 11:13 AM ^
and idk about you, but I've been drinking all morning... Sunny D Tangy Orange yo, ain't no sale like a Meijer sale!
Also it is now illegal to have porch couches in AA :[
September 20th, 2010 at 12:40 PM ^
lawn couches? If it's not on the porch does it still count in the eyes of the law?
September 20th, 2010 at 10:52 AM ^
it is coming
September 20th, 2010 at 11:15 AM ^
Nay, it is here.

If your "ninja football" remark refers to Denard, I beleive it has been here forever, just running so fast consistently nobody can ever see him. You know that little dash of movement you see out of your eye every once in a while? That was him.
September 20th, 2010 at 10:53 AM ^
Shaw knows what he can do now - he knows what breaking free feels like
Ditto Stonum
Denard has added a "lofted deep ball" upgrade to his video game play of 2010

The D is on pace to force 24 takeaways.......after basically having a program low in that department a year ago. Given how young the D is, I am really liking this development for the rest of this year, but into 2011 as well.

As for something positive, Michigan stadium looks incredible, doesn't it? I can't remember the stadium, the field, the band, the uniforms, the coaching staff gear, etc. ever looking this good and fresh.
Who cares if we are good, we look smooth as hell, and that is really at that matters in the long run.

Buffalo Wild Wings Mango Habenaro sauce is great on home made wings.
September 20th, 2010 at 11:01 AM ^
I tried to re-create that sauce myself over the weekend with no luck. Do you happen to have the recipe? Or did you purcahse from BWs?

On Saturday I ran into Hemingway jr at the game and he said he was having fun at practices and I told him his dad was a hell of a player and Go Blue and thanks for the commitment. He is tall (obvsly), but really much taller than I thought. So, like, that is good?
Also ran into Tate and Jerald Robinson walking around aimlessly after the game on Main St. They walked around the house and then back down the driveway and I told him to get off my lawn. He never stopped talking on his cell phone. Jerald did wave and nod his head when I asked him if he was Jerald Robinson. I was wasted.

Hardaway Jr?
September 20th, 2010 at 11:02 AM ^
Shit yea, My b. Hardaway Jr. He was walking with some other tall dude... didn't recognize him though. Hardaway was a really nice kid. I was all wasted eating a nast old pizza and he seemed like he didn't hate me, which is a plus.
September 20th, 2010 at 12:33 PM ^
How has this not yet been posbanged? +1, keep it up.

Probably... or at least I should be... Of Montreal plays in Royal Oak in like 9 hours.
September 20th, 2010 at 11:24 AM ^
Hemingway has a kid? Maybe that's why he is "hurt" all the time. He's at Chuck-E-Cheese every Saturday.
September 20th, 2010 at 11:01 AM ^
Rich went over to the UMass locker room after the game and talked to that team after they played their hearts out against the Wolverines in Michigan Stadium. That's keeping things in perspective. I hope he thanked them for sending his team a message that would not have otherwise been received...

I was going to do a Professor Farnsworth bit here, but apparently image sourcing doesn't like my images. Anyway, sorry for the rough news. Be thankful that you're healthy and by happy that the team you love isn't in the dumps and has a winning record.
Also, think about how miserable Domer fans must feel. Can I get a "LOL"?
September 20th, 2010 at 11:24 AM ^
I fixed the poison slime pipes!
Oh wait - wrong scientist?
September 20th, 2010 at 11:35 AM ^
What's scary is that I understand this reference.
The good news on the team is that the only injury in the UMass game was an apparently nonserious injury to Banks.
September 20th, 2010 at 1:04 PM ^
I've invented a device which makes you read this in your head, in my voice!
September 20th, 2010 at 11:15 AM ^
Sorry to hear about your friend's grandson. Death puts everything into perspective. I wish Dee would come here, but if he doesnt, it wont be the end of the world. Michigan football has been around for a long time and will continue to be.
Your friends loss will be in all our thoughts.
September 20th, 2010 at 11:19 AM ^
Agree. IU is more than a little scary. They have a competent QB and run an offense that we aren't accustomed to seeing.
September 20th, 2010 at 11:20 AM ^
son, and we wish him well in recovering from his procedure. I think this qualifies more as a silver lining than as good news but coming out of the UMASS close call I see it as highly positive that we have a likely win to work out more defensive kinks with next week, and as gentle as B10 opener as one could hope for (no gimme) before taking on MSU. I don't take MSU as a must-win at all, but I am very amped for that game this year; realistically, we could not hope for a better path to it, given what has come to now.
September 20th, 2010 at 11:21 AM ^
We're 3 and 0.
that is all.
September 20th, 2010 at 11:23 AM ^
I saw Troy Woolfolk while out & about on Sunday morning. Looked to be recovering quite well - he's walking, albeit with a crutch, but appears to be able to put some decent weight on that ankle. He'll be beast mode next year.
