Who's got good news about the team?

Submitted by Blazefire on

I need something to distract me. Who's got good news about the team or the school or something? I just found out that my former boss, and one of my best friends, in the past week has had to have his knee replaced, and then just on Saturday, his two year old grandson died completely unexpectedly in his sleep.

It hit me like a ton of bricks and I have zero energy or anything now. I'm just... gone. So how about some tidbit you've been holding back. Do you know a player who had something cool to say? Did you eat at Blimpie Burger with Richard Ash and watch him eat 4 quints with egg?

Don't forget that IU has the revenge factor going for them after last year's game in AA.  Both my IU grad brothers are growling for a payback, so we can expect plenty of fight in the Hoosiers.  No cupcake.

I liked the way  our offense, within minutes, was able to turn a 17-7 deficit into a 21-17 lead before halftime.  Last season we always seem to stall out in the red zone.  What bodes well for us, so far this season, is that we always seem to finish drives with TD's!!! A great trend for having a young defense that may take most of the season before gelling. It probably is the difference between getting a bowl game and staying home again! So, I'm thrilled about DROB and our high octane offense.

I second that observation. Taking into consideration our horrible record in the Big Ten the last 2 years I wouldn't assume a single victory during this year's campaign. Purdue and Michigan State have blown us up. In fact, all Big Ten teams have. Let's not start singing our team's praises 'cause it could all go sour as it did last year. I am confident we're heading in the right direction, but we're not there yet. Every team is worthy opponent at this point... Obviously happy we're winning in style, not to mention the return of our program to mainstream recognition of the positive kind.

So this isn't about the team.... but in responding to the death of the UMass band director, the crowd (especially students) gave the Minutemen band a warm reception when they took the field, and roundly cheered them after they performed.  It was completely appropriate and deserved.  Nice job Michigan fans.

Lloyd Carr approves.

There are many reasons to be positive.  Great new stadium setup.  3-0.  Strong QB play.  An offense that is moving the ball effectively behind good O-line play.  A defense that has been exposed early and has lots of tape to review, learn and improve from - in victory.  A good schedule that appears to give solid prospects for 8 or more wins.  Lots of interest from very notable recruits around the country,

we are fucking 3 and 0. Did you really think we'd be 3-0 at this point. I didn't, not with a solid UConn team coming in to play our beaten up squad from last year, then a trip to Notre Dame.

We will lose some games this year, but the offense is miles ahead of where it was last year. And, god forbid, if DR goes down, there are two competent backups to take the place. The defense looked like shit last week, but I thought they were decent against UConn and Notre Dame (minus some breakdowns). The question is whether the uMass game is a trend or an aberration. We're going to have to see...

This team has Iowa and State at home this year, and could start 5-0. I think eight wins is no longer pie in the sky; it is very achievable. Our recruiting class will be strong, if this happens, this will be the last year we have 8-10 freshmen in our two deep.

It's going to be a gutwrenching year, but we should really begin to turn the corner.

Have faith!

Truly sorry, my friend.  All I got is this:

It's September.  The maize and blue will take the field this weekend.  Hope runs free on that hallowed field, for more than just the players.  If you're at all like me, and you are, the thoughts of this team touching that banner get you through the week.  And they will run out and touch it this week.

Hang in there.  Go Blue.

perspective for sure!  recieved a call from my mom today saying she was in the hospital with an apparent blod clot in her lungs and a possibility she had a mild heart attack.  when i talked with my dad as my mom called him into thier bathroom she was pressed up against the wall asking questions.  my dad took her to the hospital.  it seems as though her defibulator sensed low BP from the blood clot and gave her a jolt!  she sounds great and probably will come home tomorrow!  i love Big Blue Football, but not more than my Dad and Mom!  here is hoping that your family is granted grace going forward!
