At first I thought OP was advocating we hire Olave in our next coaching change, but now I think he’s trying to loop olave ino the email chain by carbon copy. She we tell him this doesn’t work?
December 29th, 2019 at 4:46 PM ^
No, dammit. This poster cc'd Olave. OLAVE HAS GOT TO SEE THIS POST!
December 29th, 2019 at 6:44 PM ^
Where is he going to find carbon paper at this hour?
Also, when people cc me at work, I don’t respond, as it is an FYI...so maybe Olave WILL see it and just not respond.
December 29th, 2019 at 4:18 PM ^
Fortunately, both teams had to play on it.
December 29th, 2019 at 4:21 PM ^
Olave didn't slip. He cut off his route.
December 29th, 2019 at 4:22 PM ^
Fiesta Bowl was also indoors.
Edit: I thought we couldn’t edit posts with replies. The above post was changed. The original statement was that Atlantis was worse because it was indoors. And, yeah, we know he didn’t slip.
December 29th, 2019 at 6:57 PM ^
he didn't slip? So he decided to cut off his route to then lie on the turf? Umm, pretty sure he slipped and ended up on the ground regardless of his route.
December 29th, 2019 at 7:21 PM ^
He slipped after abandoning his route. Watch here at 15:42 - https://youtu.be/3ZhYjN0jBhc?t=942
Pretty sure he slipped after realizing Fields threw the ball where he should have been.
The slip didn't affect the play at all.
December 29th, 2019 at 10:03 PM ^
tl;dr after your first two words. He slipped, I was correcting the poster that claimed he didn’t slip, because he did. He was on the ground after he slipped. Thanks.
December 30th, 2019 at 1:25 AM ^
He slipped AFTER he cut off the post route and decided to run a corner. Then he saw the ball in the air thrown to the post and futilely tried to turn back and slipped.
The slip was immaterial to the play result. If he hadn't slipped, nothing changes.
December 30th, 2019 at 10:46 AM ^
I mean that the reason he wasn't open for the pass was because he broke off his route, not because he lost his footing.
Yes, he slipped after that but it was incidental to the play.
December 29th, 2019 at 7:26 PM ^
My interpretation is that Olave thought the play was busted and broke outside (where there was tons of open space) trying to give Fields an open receiver. Except that Fields was already throwing to the original route and then Olave saw it and slipped because he was too twisted up
December 29th, 2019 at 4:25 PM ^
Is Chris Olave considered a coaching candidate?
December 29th, 2019 at 4:28 PM ^
Apparently so.
December 29th, 2019 at 8:30 PM ^
He couldn't do any worse vs. OSU, amirite?
December 29th, 2019 at 4:35 PM ^
I mean, Olave didn't slip; he stopped his route. Is that what this is about? Or did Olave say something about the turf? IDK what's happening here.

That grass is really slippery. Too bad they haven’t invented something with spikes on the shoes. CC:Nike
December 29th, 2019 at 5:07 PM ^
He didn't blame anything but himself. He thought the Clemson defense had flushed Fields out of the pocket. So he broke off the route, and began to improvise, as they are coached to do.
December 29th, 2019 at 10:05 PM ^
Well he did slip regardless of his intent. The two are mutually exclusive.
not sure how anyone can see him on the ground after he slipped and claim that he didn’t slip.
December 30th, 2019 at 1:26 AM ^
The slip was 100% irrelevant to the play result Why are you so worked up about this?
December 29th, 2019 at 5:04 PM ^
Olave admitted the mistake. Though the loss certainly is not all on him. The game actually turned on the dirty hits on Lawrence.
“I was supposed to run a post, but I thought [Fields] scrambled out of the pocket so I turned around to try and get open for him,” Olave said, eyes red and moist. “But he ended up throwing the ball to the post. It was my mistake.”
Fields, in stunned disbelief, put his hands on his helmet, covered entirely in Buckeye leaves from his sublime season. Olave crumbled to the turf as Clemson’s sideline erupted, stampeding onto the field in jubilant celebration. The 20,000 Clemson fans in attendance jumped with rollicking force.
“It was terrible,” Olave said. “Worst feeling in the world. I don't really have any words for it. It’s tough.”
It would be very bad sportsmanship, and very bad form, to make fun of him today.
December 29th, 2019 at 5:16 PM ^
Poor sportsmanship? It's not like he gave the block O to Michigan Stadium or anything...
December 29th, 2019 at 5:20 PM ^
It's up to you.
December 29th, 2019 at 6:23 PM ^
Oh it’s up to us? Gee thanks buddy. Maybe you can delete your bullshit cuck post telling us what we should feel and say, since ya know, it’s up to us.
December 29th, 2019 at 6:27 PM ^
Don’t know what you’re all worked up about. Personally, I’m quite pleased with how Olave executed that play.

The Big House should go back to grass . CC Grounds Crew
December 29th, 2019 at 5:19 PM ^
I like grass fields, but ours was really bad. A combination of the field being located close to the water table and the fall climate here meant that it basically became a mudpit by November.
December 29th, 2019 at 6:03 PM ^
This. I remember watching dozens of ground crewmen running out onto the field during every commercial break. They would try and put sod back in place and then jump up and down on it. Funny and sad at the same time, but mostly funny.
December 29th, 2019 at 7:30 PM ^
It was bad, but I’m pretty sure there are better systems now... I think MSU has a modular field that holds up pretty well.
December 29th, 2019 at 8:33 PM ^
I don't know. Most of the other schools in our region have gone to FieldTurf. MSU is holding out but they may not have the water-table issue that we have at Michigan Stadium.
December 30th, 2019 at 1:30 AM ^
Michigan's grass field was an embarrassment. Worse than most decent high-school fields. I still remember Chris Perry skating around on our field prior to the field-turf in 2003, afraid to make any aggressive cuts because the field would give way under his feet. Changing to field-turf turned him into a totally different back.

Still prefer it to playing on plastic (w little rubber pellets flying around every time some makes a cut).
