What would you change about Michigan Stadium?

Excluding what goes on on the field.

There needs to be more of a historic presence on the concourse. We need a statue garden/wall of fame. Statues of players, coaches with bios. Crisler Center and Yost I’ve Arena both do great jobs of showcasing the history of the teams that play there.

Plaques underneath the covered concourse that people just walk by aren’t enough.

I’d like to see Michigan Stadium opened up for drop-in visits again. I know it used to happen awhile ago but now you can only do it if you pay $100 for a guided tour.

No. Open one gate and have security checkpoints when you walk in and have some security on the field. Close off the tunnel, just open the NE gate. I feel like Bo and specifically Yost would be disgusted on how closed off things are to the fans. Most outdoor facilities at Michigan you can walk through and walk on the field. The Big House used to be this way. Michigan Football is for all of us.

Curious to hear other suggestions.

Expand N and S endzone to push capacity to 140,000. If necessary, start wrapping around the press boxes.

Push this thing to the vision that Yost had.

Surround the stadium with boxes. Then put a dome on it.

Or double decks on endzone seating.

Also more spacing between seating.

Hope I don't get negged to hell, but, add a retractable roof.  Close it only for when it's raining though.  Or maybe that's a bad idea.  The monsoon game vs ND turned out pretty good for Michigan.

Open the stadium on basketball Saturdays.  As a student, we had a snowball fight there on the field.  In later years, I showed my daughter and a few nephews how to do the Heisman pose in the end zone (with dozens of other alums and their kids.)  Climbing out is not the easiest thing to complete any more but it was only 3 feet when I was in undergrad.  No one has it better than us.

I would love to have individual seats with a cupholder.

I remember when I had season B-Ball tickets in the 80's.  They would let you park on the asphalt around the stadium. You could park along west side then walk down into the stadium, walk across the field and up the east side into Crisler Area,  I was surprised how narrow the uprights appeared on the goal post from the 40 year line.

Nothing. I love it the way it is. The only thing I would change would be the parking situation. If the weather is wet and Pioneer & golf course are closed, it’s a pain. I have no idea how you’d do it or where you’d have it but I suspect it’s an issue that’s been looked at a million times.

Oh ... and one minor thing. The water bottle refill spicket things don’t always work too great.

Other than that, we LOVE going to games. Our happy place!

I’d add more press boxes at the end zones to retain the sound. After the previous press boxes were added, I feel like it got a lot louder. I feel like “sealing” the end zones would retain a lot more sound.

Crowd noise is the biggest variable that determines home-field advantage. Michigan fans are very knowledgeable too (being quiet while on offense and cheering the loudest on 3rd downs).

Otherwise, I think it’s fine. Maybe more seats but I like the standing as it makes the crowd more involved.

Build up the walls around the open endzone-ish areas, or add some sort of plexiglass, to better seal the place, thereby increasing crowd noise and reducing frigid winds.

The ushers. Last major evacuation storm they hid under the entry ramps. And where are they after the game when people can't use the aisle but play the "I'm more important than you card" and exit UP across all the rows of seats to the exit.

Sick of our fans selling their tickets to sparty and O$u fans then posting here and complaining. Show up to games.

I don’t have tix but I don’t know why anyone would sell to MSU fans, this is the only ‘rivalry’ game we are capable of winning.  As for OSU, since we can’t beat them, I don’t see anything wrong with taking their money.  If Harbaugh builds it, fans will come.  Until then....

I saw the thread title and I was going to post "nothing," since I think it's great, but the suggestions in the OP are all fantastic. And opening it up for fans is a burr in my saddle.

TBH I wouldn't mind some more revolutionary updates like awnings and such, but they aren't really necessary. I think statues, murals, and other such historical features would be a good addition. There's tons of space to fill, and facilities I've been to that really pile that on (there are some hockey arenas that are really good at this) are well-served by it.

I would set up a few sections for sitting down the entire game. And the rest of the stadium would be encourage to stand and cheer as much as possible.

Statues of players is a dumb idea and goes against our favorite saying: “the team, the team, the team.”
