Still drink just without football to watch.
August 10th, 2020 at 12:33 PM ^
Thankfully the NFL will maximize the suddenly wide open broadcasting window. All games will be on national TV and spread out over Friday nights, Saturdays and Sundays.
August 10th, 2020 at 11:11 AM ^
Bought a cabin up north, Gutting and rebuilding the whole inside. This will be easier without worrying about watching games.
August 10th, 2020 at 11:41 AM ^
Very cool! We are actually at looking at buying a cabin up in the NE part of Ohio or a home on lake erie...something along those lines. We are very excited. Are you guys renting yours at all or 100% used by you all? We are looking at doing limited weekly/weekend (8-12 a year max) and using it for personal/family use otherwise.
August 10th, 2020 at 11:55 AM ^
It will be 100% used by myself and family. I've looked at using it as a rental but its not worth the hassle. I've already had a neighbor problem with property lines and everyone around says he's the biggest jerk in the area. So i'm just trying to kill him with kindness to start. To start off it will just be used for family and i go up a lot.
August 10th, 2020 at 11:11 AM ^
Going to church by day and blowing up WolverineHistorian's YT channel by night.
August 10th, 2020 at 11:12 AM ^
Just like my Sundays have been (gave up on the NFL pretty much when the Steelers fucked up handling Ben Roethlisberger's sexual abuse stuff). Getting stuff done. Loads of projects for my yard. I have enough to do to keep me busy.
August 10th, 2020 at 11:13 AM ^
Spend time with my family
Some parts of the Simplicity of the day to day lives during this pandemic have actually been kinda nice
August 10th, 2020 at 11:14 AM ^
Lot's more beach time for one. Projects for sure also; I have so much crap I won't be able to procrastinate on now if there's not football.
August 10th, 2020 at 11:16 AM ^
I plan on taking a lot more trips. During the fall in PA, the weather is usually pretty good, so I’ll be heading around the state at least and maybe further out. Check out some good state parks and so on.
August 10th, 2020 at 11:17 AM ^
Probably boring.
August 10th, 2020 at 11:17 AM ^
Heard about this cool group called "Heavens Gate". Thinking about checking it out.
August 10th, 2020 at 12:26 PM ^
You might have missed the ship on that one.

Universe is a vast place, there are many UFO overlords/charismatic dudes with ascension flavored refreshments.

EVERY DAY WILL BE WIFE DAY
(fml)
August 10th, 2020 at 11:32 AM ^
How does it get like this? Because I'm in the same boat.
Turns out women have had it figured out for millenia. Its all about emotions. This is why men cater.
August 10th, 2020 at 11:18 AM ^
House projects. Going to use the unforeseen time windfall to work on the back yard. I'd rather have football though. We may still get the tailgating crew together at times to just hang out some, too.
August 10th, 2020 at 11:18 AM ^
Summers in Rangoon.......Luge Lessons.....Probably make a few meat helmets
August 10th, 2020 at 11:18 AM ^
Sorry guys. Looks like my wife took over Saturdays. Now i will be doing the honey do list. Her dream come true.
August 10th, 2020 at 11:19 AM ^
Guh. I'm as buy as ever, so no change. When you're a family caretaker, your own priorities are. . . LOL. Folks finally start to care when I start puking or collapse from exhaustion.
It's not like I've been able to watch games live for some years now. But not checking scores between chores will be somewhat less stressful.
August 10th, 2020 at 11:20 AM ^
Same as what they've been so far. Outdoor events with the family when we can get them going and a lot of projects to be done, especially now that my wife is working, there's going to be a lot more weekend work getting done. I'll probably continue on the cooking kick I am currently on, which my family enjoys and curses in equal measure.
August 10th, 2020 at 11:20 AM ^
I will probably get to work on renovating the house ...
Oh, who the hell am I kidding? I'm going to be a lazy ass like every other fall Saturday.
August 10th, 2020 at 11:22 AM ^
What will my Saturdays be like?
Quieter. I won't be screaming "For God's sake, stop running the ball straight up the damn middle! It's not 1985!" until the walls shake.
Healthier. My blood pressure won't be spiking at the sight of UM struggling with teams they should be beating easily - or teams they should never have scheduled at all. ("Mr. Manuel? Army on line 1.")
But mostly? Alive. And these days, anything else is gravy.
August 10th, 2020 at 11:24 AM ^
Sunday morning golf on the U of M Course before 11:00 a.m. Saturday football games really cut into my Sunday morning golf.
August 10th, 2020 at 11:25 AM ^
More video games
August 10th, 2020 at 11:32 AM ^
RDR2. One of the best games i've played in recent memory.
August 10th, 2020 at 12:28 PM ^
Best storyline ever. Worst online mode ever.
August 10th, 2020 at 1:40 PM ^
I played online for maybe an hour and couldn't really get into it. Story mode was great though and was quite long!
August 10th, 2020 at 11:28 AM ^
Working on my master's program. At least football shouldn't distract me from that now.
August 10th, 2020 at 11:29 AM ^
Same as now, family time. I haven’t watched any sports since it came back.
August 10th, 2020 at 11:32 AM ^
I'll still keep the tradition of hanging out with my dad. We will probably play a lot of golf (disc and regular).
August 10th, 2020 at 11:33 AM ^
I alphabetized my spices this past Saturday. Cleaned up the garage too. Basement is next.
August 10th, 2020 at 11:35 AM ^
We are going to buy a 2nd home. Going up to lake erie this weekend to look at some cabins and lake houses. We are not looking for a re-build/progject but looking at something we can rent part year and use part year that is move in ready (we live 2 hours away in columbus). I've gotten much more into outdoors and crap like that since we gave up all sports outside of UM.
We gave up all pro sports around 5 years ago (nothing to do with anthems but when your job has you involved in pro sports...you view it differently). We actually have given up all sports except for our childs youth sports and Michigan. I don't even watch other college football or basketball.
We don't miss it all all. It's liberating, and for us it's 100% not political, not about anthems or protests or anything like that.
Anyway our saturdays were built around UM sports so we are going to spend the time buying a 2nd home and enjoying the time with family and the outdoors.

Be sure to check out the Canadian side, if possible. Fond memories of summer days on the north side of Lake Erie.
August 10th, 2020 at 11:36 AM ^
Spend more time at camp, probably do some bird hunting and a lot more archery season deer hunting.
August 10th, 2020 at 11:38 AM ^
Have a newborn that keeps us plenty busy. I imagine that’ll take up a sizable portion of my Saturdays, along with the other six days a week.
August 10th, 2020 at 11:39 AM ^
I’ll think I’ll work on xm’s new kitchen. Still the same nagging questions though... granite or quartz, induction or gas, canned gravy or make a roux?
August 10th, 2020 at 11:40 AM ^
Similar to the later RichRod and Hoke years when I had to find other hobbies and activities to occupy time.
August 10th, 2020 at 11:40 AM ^
Yard work, cleaning, dog walks. Pretty normal stuff probably.
August 10th, 2020 at 11:41 AM ^
Thankfully, my family will keep me more than occupied with youth sports (hopefully) and weekend activities in San Diego.
staying positive.
August 10th, 2020 at 11:41 AM ^
I won't have to argue with my wife about parking cars on the lawn.
August 10th, 2020 at 11:44 AM ^
Rv'ing! Need to get out more to shed some pounds anyway.
Doing a solar install on it at the moment.
August 10th, 2020 at 11:48 AM ^
The plan is to invite Ruth Mahner over like the good old days, but this year we'll be watching the best historic M game from each week of past seasons. It'll be kind of a "best of" in a week to week chronological order. I know some weeks are going to be impossible to navigate (so many Notre Dame games in weeks one and two, plus how to pick the best OSU game for the last week of the season?) but I'm guessing youtube availability will cut down the options significantly. Drinks will be served. Strong ones. If you like this idea, feel free to throw out your best shot at a historic dream season schedule!
August 10th, 2020 at 11:58 AM ^
This is going to be epic. Edu-tainment at its best! Thanks, KansasBlue. :-)
August 10th, 2020 at 1:34 PM ^
Oh, and what will my Saturdays be like? I think I'll be going over to KansasBlue's house for drinks and football. Like usual, only not. I think this might be the best football season in recent memory, though.
August 11th, 2020 at 2:17 AM ^
Ruth/KansasBlue,
Are either of you in Kansas currently? I'm in Wichita and haven't found many M fans around here (though I keep finding Ohio State people regrettably).
August 11th, 2020 at 10:48 AM ^
Yes. We both live in the Topeka area. There's a contributor to Mgoblog, The Mathlete, who also lives here in town. There's another user named WichitanWolverine or something like that, so you might want to check them out. There's also at least one more user with Kansas in their handle. My dad's an alum and I'm originally from AA but I haven't lived there in almost 40 years. Maybe if we ever get back to having real games all of us Wheat Staters can get together. You'd be welcome to join us and I'm a pretty decent bar tender:)
August 11th, 2020 at 3:09 PM ^
Awesome! That sounds great! I have family in Lawrence so I'm in the Topeka area sometimes. Will definitely reach out this spring when football hopefully comes back.
