What Will Your Saturdays Be Like?

With college football most likely done for the season, what will you be doing over the next few months now that you have a full Saturday? More weekend trips? Any projects?

Very cool! We are actually at looking at buying a cabin up in the NE part of Ohio or a home on lake erie...something along those lines. We are very excited. Are you guys renting yours at all or 100% used by you all? We are looking at doing limited weekly/weekend (8-12 a year max) and using it for personal/family use otherwise.

It will be 100% used by myself and family. I've looked at using it as a rental but its not worth the hassle. I've already had a neighbor problem with property lines and everyone around says he's the biggest jerk in the area. So i'm just trying to kill him with kindness to start. To start off it will just be used for family and i go up a lot.

Just like my Sundays have been (gave up on the NFL pretty much when the Steelers fucked up handling Ben Roethlisberger's sexual abuse stuff).  Getting stuff done.  Loads of projects for my yard. I have enough to do to keep me busy.

Spend time with my family

Some parts of the Simplicity of the day to day lives during this pandemic have actually been kinda nice

I plan on taking a lot more trips. During the fall in PA, the weather is usually pretty good, so I’ll be heading around the state at least and maybe further out. Check out some good state parks and so on.

House projects. Going to use the unforeseen time windfall to work on the back yard. I'd rather have football though. We may still get the tailgating crew together at times to just hang out some, too.

Guh.  I'm as buy as ever, so no change.  When you're a family caretaker, your own priorities are. . . LOL.  Folks finally start to care when I start puking or collapse from exhaustion.

It's not like I've been able to watch games live for some years now.  But not checking scores between chores will be somewhat less stressful.

Same as what they've been so far.  Outdoor events with the family when we can get them going and a lot of projects to be done, especially now that my wife is working, there's going to be a lot more weekend work getting done.  I'll probably continue on the cooking kick I am currently on, which my family enjoys and curses in equal measure.

I will probably get to work on renovating the house ...

Oh, who the hell am I kidding? I'm going to be a lazy ass like every other fall Saturday.

What will my Saturdays be like?

Quieter. I won't be screaming "For God's sake, stop running the ball straight up the damn middle! It's not 1985!" until the walls shake.

Healthier. My blood pressure won't be spiking at the sight of UM struggling with teams they should be beating easily - or teams they should never have scheduled at all. ("Mr. Manuel? Army on line 1.")

But mostly? Alive. And these days, anything else is gravy.

We are going to buy a 2nd home. Going up to lake erie this weekend to look at some cabins and lake houses. We are not looking for a re-build/progject but looking at something we can rent part year and use part year that is move in ready (we live 2 hours away in columbus). I've gotten much more into outdoors and crap like that since we gave up all sports outside of UM.

We gave up all pro sports around 5 years ago (nothing to do with anthems but when your job has you involved in pro sports...you view it differently). We actually have given up all sports except for our childs youth sports and Michigan. I don't even watch other college football or basketball.

We don't miss it all all. It's liberating, and for us it's 100% not political, not about anthems or protests or anything like that.

Anyway our saturdays were built around UM sports so we are going to spend the time buying a 2nd home and enjoying the time with family and the outdoors.

Similar to the later RichRod and Hoke years when I had to find other hobbies and activities to occupy time.

The plan is to invite Ruth Mahner over like the good old days, but this year we'll be watching the best historic M game from each week of past seasons.  It'll be kind of a "best of" in a week to week chronological order.  I know some weeks are going to be impossible to navigate (so many Notre Dame games in weeks one and two, plus how to pick the best OSU game for the last week of the season?) but I'm guessing youtube availability will cut down the options significantly.  Drinks will be served.  Strong ones.  If you like this idea, feel free to throw out your best shot at a historic dream season schedule!

Yes.  We both live in the Topeka area.  There's a contributor to Mgoblog, The Mathlete, who also lives here in town.  There's another user named WichitanWolverine or something like that, so you might want to check them out.  There's also at least one more user with Kansas in their handle.  My dad's an alum and I'm originally from AA but I haven't lived there in almost 40 years.  Maybe if we ever get back to having real games all of us Wheat Staters can get together.  You'd be welcome to join us and I'm a pretty decent bar tender:)
