What Will Your Saturdays Be Like?

With college football most likely done for the season, what will you be doing over the next few months now that you have a full Saturday? More weekend trips? Any projects?

Just bought a new house so determining which projects we will want to do there. I'll play a bit more fall golf.  Probably smoke a bunch of pork butt & brisket to stock up the freezer.

Start with cheap stuff you can afford to lose.  Got a broken chair (or whatever) you're planning to throw away?  Go nuts on it.  Try to repair it, or salvage it, or turn it into something else.  If you screw up, hey, it was gonna be garbage anyway.

Leave that load-bearing wall alone for now.  Get to the point where you can consistently turn garbage into gold before raising the stakes.

Getting Saturday back will be a boon to the development and construction of a pond inside the wife's duck pen.  I'll need to run electric and water across the yard to the location, which mean a second breaker box and a couple of frost-free hose bibs.  Then I'll have to dig out the pond, complete with tree roots that will make life difficult.  The pond liner and installation of lighting, plumbing, and pumps will complete before the final rock pieces get moved in.  Additional rock and landscaping will complete in the Spring.

If that doesn't fully occupy my time, there are still a dozen trees that need to come down, a crapload of stumps to remove, the associated leveling and re-tilling/planting of the yard, and removal of too much poison ivy/oak...

I'll keep busy, the lack of football will only increase productivity.  Dammit.

I wonder if the NFL finds a way to play whether they'll expand games to Saturday like they do during the playoffs.

I'm not a huge NFL fan, so won't impact me all that much, but could fill a void for some.

My weekends will be full of travel baseball tournaments for both my boys down here in Florida.  Travel ball has been full steam for 2 1/2 months now without any issues.

I'm going to relive the 1997 season.  Each and every Saturday I'll find (hopefully) complete broadcasts from that weekend's game and put it on the wide screen at whatever time that week's game started, beginning with Colorado on the first weekend and ending with OSU on the last weekend.  On 1/1/21 with 2020 in the rearview mirror, I'll be watching the '98 Rose Bowl.
