What are you going to do with your life now?

Submitted by Bo Schemheckler on

Since we are degenerates we have all been F5ing like crazy for the last couple weeks thanks to summer swarm, apparel contract rumors and general HARBAUGH activity leading to a constant stream of michigan news. What are you all going to be doing with your life once this michigan camp is over and the news slows down a little. Personally, I recently dicovered that I  do in fact have a family and that I should probably spend some time with them

I just ran a new personal best 5k (24:29). My summer goal is sub-24 so I'll be working towards that. But I'm posting on here as I walk back home so I'm still a degenerate.

I think you should set a more aggressive goal. If you shoot for under 20, getting under 24 will be easy. I used to run a lot and 30 seconds is nothing. You can vary by more than that, just pending weather, terrain, and the way you feel on a given day. My hunch is that you can probably get to 20 if you really want to. Just remember, it's not just the run, it's eating right and staying really active in general. If you're naturally heavier, you'll want to concentrate more on distance than if you slimmer...and if you're slimmer, don't underestimate the need to incorporate some weight training too. It's key for being able to hit the hills hard and not have them wipe you out.

20 min is the long-term goal for sure.  You're right that 24 is pretty achievable this summer.  I've just done it minute-by-minute.  Once I was under 26 then the next goal was sub-25 and so on.

I'm a very slim guy and struggle to actually eat enough so I know that's an area to work on.  I try and do other exercises on non-running days (especially core workouts) but running is the only exercise I truly love to do.  Weight training is something I'm very intimidated by because I know nothing about proper form or what I should be able to do (I know, I know - Google (and Reddit) can easily fix that ignorance).

Mostly, I just wanted to brag about my new PR.

Just got done kayaking around the lake with the wife.

Now I'm eating lunch & wasting time here.

Kids softball later this afternoon.

This evening either fishing or more MGO depending on the weather.

Road bike. Trying to build up to a 70-mile workout this month. Mtn bike too, hopefully. In the market for a new mtn bike, but trying to not go over $1000

My son just graduated and is playing his last season of competitve baseball as he has decided to pursue $$ instead of athletic glory.

My daughter (10) is getting more and more serious about basketball.  She is currently in a summer camp/clinic and loves to play driveway basketball with me when times permits.

Life is good.

Normally I travel to a small Mexican village, but this year decided to hit Panama City and some Colombian cities for the invierno.

I sure hope the market does well. Two recessions have left me a bit behind in savings for my work's 401 K plan. I just hope I have enough extra cash to buy Michigan season tickets and follow them on the road. Harbaugh is my age and will probably have built Michigan into a top 5 program. The only question is will Harbaugh coach past age 62? I sure hope he does until he is 70 and that he stays at Michigan!

I don't know about the rest of you, but I've got a busy job, and a family to raise. /sarc I usually spend this time of year figuring out whether I want summer to last forever or Michigan football to be here tomorrow.
