What's Your Personal Top 10?

Submitted by MaizeBlueA2 on October 8th, 2023 at 1:15 PM

I firmly believe official polls and rankings shouldn't be allowed to be released until after week 4.  Now that we're truly into the season, what's your personal top 10 rankings?

(I say "personal," because I'm not asking you to predict the top 10...who do YOU believe are the top 10 teams in the country?)

The Top 28 teams in both polls are identical - the specific rankings may vary just a bit based on the position - etc.

I find it difficult to understand how Bama can be ranked above Texas - having lost at home to that same squad.

The game action by OSU, USC, and ND reflected who they are - I liked it - and hope they don’t change a thing,  IMO, Zona self destructed last night - a lot of defensive penalties in the second half gave the game to SC.

As for Michigan.. keep doing what you’re doing.  Solid game plans and execution.

Oregon v Washington will be fun to watch next Saturday.

My Top 10 - the sequence doesn’t matter right now - a lot of competitive teams.

I got a list, here's the order of my list that it's in
It goes:

  • Reggie
  • Jay-Z
  • 2Pac
  • and Biggie
  • André from OutKast
  • Jada
  • Kurupt
  •  Nas
  • and then me

But in this industry I'm the cause of a lot of envy
So when I'm not put on this list, the shit does not offend me

Jim Harbaugh is one hell of a coach.  Someone start a fresh JH appreciation thread.  I can’t as I remain in Bolivia.  I’m beginning to think what sets JH apart is his instinct for coordinators and coaching staff.  He learned a lesson after Don Brown and has never looked back.  His staff is outstanding.

1) Georgia - they’re #1 until someone beats them. That’s probably how it should be, especially if how they played last night is what to expect going forward.

2) Michigan - they appear to be rounding to form, and appear to be far better equipped to contend with Georgia than they have the last two years.

3) Oregon

4) Washington

5) Oklahoma - appear to be a year or two ahead of schedule, and holy cow that was an awesome game yesterday.

6) FSU - there’s some warning signs, but overall a good resume and they haven’t lost.

7) OSU - Still a stupidly talented team that could win it all if it managed to put it all together, but if I’m an OSU fan I’m starting to get a bit concerned that I’m in tight game with teams that I shouldn’t be in tight games with. McCord, so far, appears to be a considerable step down from Stroud.

8) PSU - Is this a more talented version of Iowa? That defense is absolutely legit, but is their offense going to be able to deliver against Michigan and OSU? We’re going to learn a lot about these guys in two weeks.

9) Texas - Still have a great win on the resume and could make the CFP, but their defense shat the bed in crunch time and Ewers had too many mistakes.

10) USC - Yes, the best player in the country plays for them, but these guys are not CFP material. You’re in shootouts with freaking Arizona. What do you think Oregon is going to do to you? Until Riley starts giving a shit about defense, they’re not winning a title.

Teams I've watched who I think are good enough: Michigan, Oregon, Oklahoma, Texas, Louisville, 'Bama, and (barely) Ohio State. I'm pretty sure Washington, Florida State, and Georgia should be in there, though I haven't seen them play. I saw good parts of the Ohio State/ND game and parts of Louisville/ND, and while I know style makes matchups, the transitive math gravity wants me to place Louisville ahead of OSU. I would also consider subbing OSU for PSU.

Penn State has incredible talent on defense (except at tackle; I watched a few minutes of IL running right up the gut), but PSU's OL and interior DL are really bad. That said, I can see why people think they can beat Ohio State. They are going to terrorize that OSU OL and can at least contain the passing attack. I'm not sure if I believe in their offense, though. Gotta run and pass-block better than that, boys.

I'd like to see North Carolina play, especially their games against Duke and Miami (YTM). I could then switch them out for OSU at the tail and comfortably raise them further with wins.

USC is really bad. Arizona was dramatically out-gunned talent-wise and should've won that game; and if Arizona's freshman QB maybe had one more game under his belt prior to this one, maybe they would've won (Good sh-t, Jedd!). USC will lose to Oregon, Washington (based on Washington's resume/rep), and Utah, if Utah can heal up. Arizona has probably shown other teams with more talent how to take down USC.

I wonder if Louisville pulled out all the stops for ND, but if there's more where that came from, they are a solid top-10 team.

Side note: Oregon is the team I'd least like to see in the playoff. They are so tricky and quick. Their defense is talented, and Nix seems like he has the INT situation under control. I think they are most likely to emerge unscathed from the Pac-12, though I haven't seen Washington, yet. A close second is Oklahoma, though their QB is so tiny and gets a ton of passes batted down. Oklahoma has some neat passing, but I think Michigan's secondary is just knocking off rust.
