Washington receives Penix to come to stiff QB competition
December 14th, 2021 at 3:52 PM ^
He should have gone to Washington State or Oregon State as the Cougars and Beavers would have happily accepted him.
December 14th, 2021 at 3:53 PM ^
Or USC. Would have been interesting to see Penix in a Trojan uniform.
December 14th, 2021 at 3:55 PM ^
I am sure he has already done that.
December 14th, 2021 at 3:58 PM ^
or USC jr as a Penix Gamecock.
December 14th, 2021 at 4:06 PM ^
Man, the NIL opportunities on that one
December 14th, 2021 at 4:13 PM ^
I hear what sealed the deal at UW is an NIL deal with the Space Needle in Seattle. Penix will get you up….
December 14th, 2021 at 6:05 PM ^
Word is Penix looks good in that Husky purple helmet
December 14th, 2021 at 4:07 PM ^
Wouldn’t the Trojans take all the feeling away?
December 14th, 2021 at 4:34 PM ^
What if he is allergic to Trojans? Do they have uniforms made of lamb skin?
December 14th, 2021 at 4:15 PM ^
Given his injury history, you’d think he would have wanted the extra protection.
December 14th, 2021 at 4:36 PM ^
I, for one, endorse this because I don't want to see him limp on the field before everyone gets to finish.
December 14th, 2021 at 8:50 PM ^
Both of these Penix jokes are better than the OP's title. Come on OP you can do better.
December 14th, 2021 at 3:54 PM ^
Would they insert him into the lineup?
December 14th, 2021 at 4:13 PM ^
Would they insert him into the lineup?
Only if the package has a tight end. He performs okay with those wide receiver packages but the tight end packages are where he really performs well.
December 14th, 2021 at 4:27 PM ^
End-around allows Penix to penetrate with wide receivers when tight ends are stuffed.
December 14th, 2021 at 9:54 PM ^
If that tight end is a hot route he’s gotta turn fast for the quick release.
December 14th, 2021 at 5:36 PM ^
They’ll slide him right in somewhere in the backfield
December 14th, 2021 at 4:04 PM ^
He felt it was his best opportunity to demolish both.
December 14th, 2021 at 4:08 PM ^
Huard Penix is a fun depth chart though!
December 14th, 2021 at 9:12 PM ^
Moore. Huard. Penix.
December 14th, 2021 at 4:17 PM ^
Dawgy style
December 14th, 2021 at 4:54 PM ^
I don’t remember UW’s line being particularly good. I expect to see a lot of Penix sacks next season.
December 14th, 2021 at 6:09 PM ^
Hopefully he hangs onto the balls.
December 14th, 2021 at 6:19 PM ^
Do they play any ACC teams next year? Because separating balls from Penix sounds like Va Tech to me.
December 14th, 2021 at 6:18 PM ^
....with....
December 14th, 2021 at 3:54 PM ^
Just throwing this out there....Next year, MSU plays:
Washington
U of M
OSU
PSU
Wisconsin
Minnesota
How many of these games above do they win? They get the benefit of the doubt(mostly) for their progression this year, but I could see Sparty's honeymoon coming to an end next season.
December 14th, 2021 at 3:56 PM ^
So when did we become RCMB???
December 14th, 2021 at 3:58 PM ^
Yawn....This makes Washington more talented next year. Its worth the conversation.
December 14th, 2021 at 4:43 PM ^
We'll be alright.
December 14th, 2021 at 3:58 PM ^
They could realistically be 3-3 coming off a bye into our game. They play @Washington, OSU, and Wisconsin before then. Washington was pretty miserable this year, but I think De Boer is a good coach. A trip out to the west coast is never easy.
December 14th, 2021 at 4:02 PM ^
So they get another home game and another bye before UM....
December 14th, 2021 at 4:11 PM ^
and they get to play us in EL two years in a row. fun stuff.
December 14th, 2021 at 4:13 PM ^
This has been debunked countless times but here's the proof again for anyone who missed it
December 14th, 2021 at 8:35 PM ^
Those photos of games in empty stadiums still get me.
December 14th, 2021 at 4:12 PM ^
The conference schedule is going to be reshuffled to fix the long stretches of home/away games resulting from the COVID resets of home/away rotations (remember the Michigan-MSU game is in Ann Arbor next year, and all even years following that).
Who knows if the Big Ten opts for minor tweaking or a major rearrangement, but it's very possible that the *order* of conference games next year looks nothing like it is currently scheduled (of course, the opponents are guaranteed to remain the same)
December 14th, 2021 at 5:36 PM ^
Never easy is understating it. Since 2010, the Big Ten is 5-14 in regular-season road games against the Pac-12.
December 14th, 2021 at 6:15 PM ^
Thank you. So tired of the BS line that the B10 is so much better than the Pac12.
December 14th, 2021 at 3:59 PM ^
Sigh...I see people do this every year. MSU will be fine. OSU will be fine. Nothing ever bad happens to UM's rivals. MSU won 10 games this year and I agree that they overperformed how they actually played, they'll still win lots of games next year. That's just what happens.
December 14th, 2021 at 4:27 PM ^
This is actually not true.
During the Harbaugh era, Michigan has won 72% of its games; MSU has won about 61%.
Yes, MSU had some nice years during the RichRod/Hoke eras, but Michigan has had far better overall results both before 2008 and after 2014.
MSU got in to the 2015 playoff on a fluke, and it's been downhill ever since.
I'd be willing to bet my standard $1 that Tucker ends up being an 8-4 coach over his tenure in East Lansing.
December 14th, 2021 at 4:51 PM ^
Duffy Daugherty averaged 5.7 wins over 19 years. MSU names buildings and awards after him. If Tucker goes 8-4 every year they work him into the fight song.
December 14th, 2021 at 5:18 PM ^
8-4 in the big ten east is nothing to sneeze at. that translates to 6-3 in conf and 2-1 non-conf. playing UM, OSU and PSU every year.
December 14th, 2021 at 4:03 PM ^
For once let’s not throw dirt on their season before they even began.
December 14th, 2021 at 4:03 PM ^
Realistically? 3-4 of those. The "haha, MSU is going to regress to the mean next year" trope has become so boring.
They were a good team this year and the while Berger is no KW3, they will be a tough out next year. The only sure L on that list is OSU. Wisconsin is also a likely L for them. We would be beyond stupid to pencil the Michigan game in as a win after the past 10+ years. PSU and Minny are extremely beatable. Washington is terrible.
December 14th, 2021 at 4:17 PM ^
I have a Sparty friend who won't shut up about 37-33. He says we were lucky, and that next year Sparty will be 12-0 and National Championships. Knowing their schedule next year I bet him a $100 that State wouldn't get 8 wins in the regular season. He crawled under a rock and I haven't heard from him since. At least I shut him up.
December 14th, 2021 at 4:39 PM ^
Is Kenneth Walker definitively not coming back? I'm guessing he isn't but if he does for some reason that raises MSU's ceiling considerably.
December 14th, 2021 at 3:54 PM ^
He plays hard.
Needs to learn to use tight ends more.
Can’t just rely on wide receivers.
December 14th, 2021 at 3:57 PM ^
Yeah, they are also good pass catchers
December 14th, 2021 at 4:27 PM ^
If the football game lasts more that four quarters, does he have to consult a doctor?
December 14th, 2021 at 6:54 PM ^
....only if he didn't finish.
