Visitor Abraham Alce = Beast Mode!

Submitted by jbibiza on

Under the radar 2018 RB Abraham Alce is on an official this weekend, but 247 does not show an offer. Fred Jackson would say, "Deveon Smith but Faster, Bigger and with better vision".
Looks to be at least 240 so I guess we are recruiting him as a FB but with serious running chops (It's a Trap!!). Is JH looking to return to the days of Leroy Hoard and Jarrod Bunch? Bo would love this kid.  He is also a violent LB.

When I look at the depth chart by class, I don't see gross roster incompetence given what Harbaugh had to start with.

Yes, a DT in this class would be very nice because it is a little slim. But with Higdon graduating after this season and the posibility that Walker may not last, building RB depth is paramount in this class.

That said, I think Barrett took any chance this kid had at joining Michigan's class. However, the way recruiting works, you are not going to cancel the kids official visit. That would hurt the relationship with the school and it's coaches.  Even if you ultimately have to tell the kid there is no room for him, you want to bring him up and let him have a great experience.

What's with this "and the posibility (sic) that Walker may not last".  Sam, Chengelis and others have debunked the myth started by some discredited blog/twitterer that Kareem was in the doghouse or on his way out:

Bunk. It's Rashan Gary, hands-down.

The notion that "the best players over the last three seasons were Hoke recruits" is bizarre, given the performance of Gary, Hudson, Levert, Bush, and Nordin in 2017.

Devin Bush, Jr. (Harbaugh recruit) earned honors as a linebacker.

David Long, Jr. and Lavert Hill (Harbaugh recruits) were two of the best cornerbacks in the entire country.

Khaleke Hudson (Harbaugh recruit) put up some great numbers.

Karan Higdon (Harbaugh recruit) was our leading rusher and supposedly flirting with the idea of leaving early for the NFL.

Sure, Peppers and Hurst and Lewis and Charlton were elite players, but they were in the third and fourth and fifth years - of course they're going to be superior to many of the younger guys.

But Bush, Long, Hudson, and Higdon, among others, beat out Hoke recruits to become elite Big Ten players.

He said with this years class they will have about the same amount as the top 4 teams. Not still have less than. You should take a look at the last 4 incoming classes of the top 4 teams, keeping attrition in mind, and you will see that we have more DB's with this class than any of them. Just because Sam said it, doesn't mean it's true.

We finished the season with 8 scholarship DBs after Hawkins was moved to Viper. That's a crazy low number. The reason we're going after so many DBs shouldn't be a mystery to anyone. But this is a place for superficial analysis and beating jokes and memes to death

There are 9 plus several guys who could shift to safety. Long, Hill, Watson, Thomas, St. Juste, Kinnell, Metelllus, Woods and JKP. 5 guys for 2 CB spots and 5 (including Hawkins) for 2 S spots isn't light. Throw in Hughes and I don't think 5 freshman DBs shows good roster management.

They've got 21 guys listed as DB/CB/S; Obviously a bunch of them are non-scholarship guys, but I don't know their personnel well enough to know who's on scholarship and who isn't.

Michigan has 20 listed total, so from a total squad standpoint it doesn't seem out of whack, but the key is number of scholarship guys (not to mention how how good they are.)
