Virtue Signaling Thread

Submitted by BoHarb on October 20th, 2019 at 10:57 AM

This is a thread to publicly demonstrate what makes you such a good fan and how much you support the team, program, and university, yet also simultaneously castigate others that dare offer an alternative narrative to your top fan perspective.

Michigan fan since I was 6. 50 years. Seen the highs and lows. Got the block M tattoo and a wolverine on my right shoulder. I live 60 miles from columbus. Will love the wolverines till my death. I have been to the Big House 3 times. 3 and 0. Henson to Terrell victory. The Baylor game during the NC championship year and 800th victory against Wisconsin. Go Blue

He became the head of a major federal agency,

His point was totally valid; results are a simple matter of wins and losses.  Five years after the Harbaugh experiment started, it is little better than the first year he showed up, if that.  It has been a constant turnover of coaches and underperformance.

Last night we showed some grit, but it was still another L.

The results speak for themselves.  I see we are now ranked 20, two spots above App. State.

Irrespective of success on the field, Jim Harbaugh is the ideal coach for our beloved Wolverines. Passionate and erudite, he is a Michigan Man through and through. His yearly forays abroad strongly underscore his belief that student athletes are students first and travel leads to learning.

Anyone who says otherwise can eat a big  ol’ bag of dicks.

Go Blue!!!

Edit: For those negging please refer to the rubric as outlined by OP. It’s supposed to be tongue in cheek and fun.

Harbaugh shouldn’t and won’t be fired. But he and by extension the team need to be more aggressive and looser in how they approach road games. Michigan playing tight is their biggest issue under Harbaugh.

This is a completely bullshit take.  It is possible to be critical and supportive at the same time.  If you don’t know how to do it that means you are not yet an adult regardless of your age.

Some fans are twisting criticism of the coaching staff and making it sound like the criticism is being placed at the feet of the players.  90% of the criticism I’ve seen is being placed at the foot of Harbaugh- so many dishonest fans who would rather create an alternative universe to protect their Michigan Man.  I’m more convinced now then ever, that it’s time to burn that construct down and look forward.  The past is the past.  Times have changed and it’s time to move forward.

People are not offering criticism of the staff in a meaningful conversation. 99% of the posts on here are absolute cancer and completely devoid of rational thought. And spare me the 90% at Harbaugh, people were going after Bell and Metellus in Subject Posts for fucks sake.

The one thing I can't stand in sports is choking and Harbaugh does it over and over. I would rather get blasted 56-0 than lose a game where we dominate our opponent or just plain give it away.

If I may so, that's loopy.

I was frustrated like a lot of folks last night, but I would rather lose in a close, competitive game than get my ass handed to me from go. I would much rather have losses like last night than losses where it is an open question as to whether or not we even realize the game has started.

Everybody knows that real fans demonstrate that they are tough guys by posting "UNACCEPTABLE!" fifty times after every loss, otherwise it means you are way too soft.

Also, if nobody pays attention to your "UNACCEPTABLE" comments in the main threads, be sure to start a new board post to make extra sure that everyone knows you are a tough guy.

I’ve been a fan for almost 50 years. The last 15 have been very frustrating. I keep thinking this will be the year we turn the corner and become an elite team. I’m lowering my expectations and just realize we are just a mediocre team and that’s all we are going to be. I do not see Harbaugh winning a big ten championship. There are just to many stupid decisions. Like trying a 58 yard f.g. With a kicker who has never made one from that far even in practice. Luckily the defense stepped up and stop psu from scoring before half. Harbaugh maybe the worst 2 minute coach in the country. Clock management is terrible. It’s just bizarre watching this team. I expect something bad to happen on almost every play.

9-10 wins is mediocre?

You say you have watched 50 years. If you have then you surely cannot have missed the decades of bad decisions, poor clock management, and chokes in big games.

It choked in big games because it played and coached conservatively. It physically dominated lesser teams

Sound familiar?

Fans seem to think Michigan was this superpower since 1969. It wasn’t. It was a disciplined, conservative program that rolled in a very weak Big Ten.

Michigan is what it always has been. That is good enough to those who matter.

Football is a PR tool for the university. It isn’t an obsession like it is for OSU or the SEC. Michigan treats football appropriately—as entertainment.

if sparty and wisky win this week then game still decides the big ten.  It is far more likely that PSU loses.

not likely for Wisky to get the road win at OSU so the season is basically over

it would be nice to beat all 3 rivals though

we lost having played our best game of the season so far

Only way Harbaugh is fired is if we lose to MSU.  What fan wants this though?

my guess for the rest of the games.....we win the rest besides OSU.  9 and 3

I am glad we have that early signing period in recruiting

It's fun to see people who can't handle disagreement with their perspective create a thread to try to obfuscate this weakness.  But yes, everyone who thinks you are wrong is virtue signaling and you are the one true coherent fan.

This place is always a little weird after a loss, I guess.

We are sick of condescending snarky fucks like you trying to make people feel crazy,  or seem like morons for wanting to fire Harbaugh and move on.

It's completely rational to be fed up with him in year 5.  We suck against other good teams,  it's so simple.

I love when the team is competitive and plays hard like they did last night.  I LOVED that game last night.

But get off your fucking high horse a little bit if other fans are more critical than you.

Again, I just disagree with the idea that the world is ending and Michigan could do any better than Harbaugh or that Michigan is somehow a more elite team than they've been basically since mid-Bo years.  It's fine if you disagree; that's your right.  Be critical; I certainly am.  But if you think calling me a condescending, snarky fuck is going to make me believe the rest of your rant is worthy of the weight and measure you think you're delivering, sorry man it ain't gonna happen.  It bothers you just as much that others disagree with your opinion as you claim I do, and no amount of chest beating about how you ain't mad is changing that.

I'm glad you were happy watching the team play well last night; I'm also fairly certain you were a raging asshole in the first half when they were down 21-0.

I do everything in my power to watch every single snap of every game. My weekend revolves around kickoff time. If that means shifting my schedule, lying through my teeth, absurd excuses, skipping funerals, etc. nothing is out of the realm of possibilities.

I want don brown fired and Brett Venable running our D next year.

If that means making him the Head coach that's fine by me. or paying him 8 mil a year to be an assistant and Harbaugh can stand there as the figurehead who really does nothing which pretty much describes what he is doing right now anyways.
