Unlike a lot of Debbie Downers here, I have no idea who wins this game.  I think a lot of people are putting too much emphasis on a bad half of football where Cade was clearly playing hurt (literally went from great to stupid after that hit), Josh Ross was kept off the field (for an injury that seemed minor but whatever), and our OC kept like 90% of the playbook in the lockbox either because he didn't trust Cade's arm or they were testing interior run plays against the stoutest defense they've faced.

We were stomping all over Rutgers in the 1st half (which it seems everyone forgot) and this is a legit decent Rutgers team too.  They beat Syracuse on the road, who just beat a decent Liberty team (Syracuse's defense is legit, and their offense is better now with a different QB than the one who played against Rutgers).

It seemed that 2nd half was a trial by fire for Junior Colson, Nikhai Hill-Green, and Kalel Mullings.  The MLB is the playcaller and those guys struggled at first with that and thus Rutgers found some things they could do to while the brain of our defense was stuck in freshman mode.  However, late in the 4th, they seemingly figured something out and the defense got key stops and Junior Colson made some really promising plays to seal the deal.  People are latching on the d-line but the whole point of our defense is that the d-line doesn't really makes plays, but rather swallows up o-linemen so the linebackers can make the plays and without Josh Ross, they needed 2 quarters to get their shit together in that aspect (which they eventually did).

So for next week, we need Cade to be the good Cade, Josh Ross back on the field, and Gattis needs to take the handcuffs off the offense and stop running into stacked boxes.  All of those things should happen, but I can't 100% say they will.  But Wisconsin will dare us to throw and Cade has the ability to make those throws and if we don't constrain ourselves, sweeps, pitches, RPO's, everything on the table should open up opportunity for "speed in space" to actually appear.  And Wisconsin's offense is weak enough that we should be in the game all 4 quarters because they're not explosive and their QB looks like bad Cade, but all the time.

So I see the game going either way, but we absolutely could win if we don't galaxy brain ourselves and actually use the whole playbook and get a good showing from Cade.  But that's not guaranteed.

Guys, I have an idea that our offense might try to give us a chance against Wiscy. It sounds a little crazy, but here me out:

We make it SEEM like we're going to run up the middle, but then we ACTUALLY throw it or run it outside! Like is there even a name for that?!? Can you imagine how mad Wiscy would be if they tried to stop the run and then we did something else?!?!?

I was gonna suggest passing on first down sometimes too but that's just TOO crazy even for me

One thing is certain, a good portion of you MFers are some of the most insufferable SOBs on the planet. If you won lottery you would complain you had to go pick up the winnings.

In my opinion the formula for victory against Wisconsin is to get in front early by being aggressive with play action. First give Cade some easy throws to get him into a rhythm an build confidence. Then go for the haymaker. They are even worse than us when they are playing from behind and are forced to go away from their bread-and-butter power rushing attack. Odds are they will force things and make mistakes. If we can get them out of their comfort zone early we should have a better chance of getting our own rushing attack on track and pounding them into dust the way they have done to us recently.

But this is not what I expect. I expect that we will look like we are playing in a phone booth, futilely attempting to impose our will until we are either down a few scores or in danger of not getting another possession in a tight game. I hope that I am wrong about this hypothetical scenario.
