Upshur to FSU
Commits to FSU (No surprise I guess)
Says UM finished 2nd (No surprise either)
Says Temple finished 3rd (whatever, has to keep the hometown happy)
Still plans on taking all 5 official visits (ummmm okay?)
UM not on his list of 5 OV's (ummmm what??)
"I want to do visits to USC, Alabama, FSU, Temple and Arizona State," Upshur said. "I don't have date for those yet but those are the ones I'm hoping to take."

It seems more and more recruits are teaming up with bleacher report for committment videos. I like them more than the hat selection ceremony, but it's a tad overdramatic at times. Good luck to the kid regardless. Hope he does well against every team but Michigan.

Agreed, at least it is not a kicker from western Michigan on a private plane landing in happy valley to the song coming home. Must have been a nephew of David Brandon.

Good luck to him at FSU.
Sounds like we're back to square one in terms of finding a TE. Trusting Jay to find a good one for us.

We already have one committed. Good player out of Massachusetts by the name of Sean McKeon.
September 1st, 2015 at 2:43 PM ^
As far as M being off the OV list it might be a thing where he's seen M enough to know what he'd be seeing ala Gary.
Disappointing, but we all knew this was coming.

He knows he's going to FSU and he wants free trips...look at the ladies at some of those schools.
USC, FSU, ASU, Bama? That may be the top 4 in the country.
Then he goes to Temple to hangout with his former and current teammates.
Makes perfect sense to me.

I would bet his visit to ASU coincides with the annual ASU Undie Run....
It is actually a charity fundraiser!

Whatever happened to UM's Naked Mile?
Seems like every year one fun tradition gets banned in Ann Arbor.

Not sure why he would OV to Temple though. It's in Philly.

To be honest, I would've needed to take an OV to University of Detroit when I was in high school, even though the campus was only five miles from my house. I had never stepped on campus.
Plus Temple plays their games off campus. So even if he went to the games, he still wouldn't be on campus.

That's a bummer, man.
But not really surprising. Maybe channeling the Dude can help us shrug it off.

Mr. Harbaugh will get his guys; fear not.
September 1st, 2015 at 3:01 PM ^
The type of system he runs and the attention that TEs get, I have no doubt that a quality recruit will end up in the next class.
September 1st, 2015 at 3:42 PM ^
but I hightly doubt we will get any elite tight end recruits with Jay as the TE coach. He might turn out to be a good coach but he is a bit on the cheesy/embarassing side. That being said I am ok with that because having Jim as HMFIC outweighs any possible negatives.
September 1st, 2015 at 3:50 PM ^
what?!?!?!? Or maybe some recruits just like other schools, debby downer!!
September 1st, 2015 at 2:49 PM ^
womp, womp
On to the next option. I feel like we have some good young talent on the roster at TE already, and Harbaugh will likely unearth another talented recruit...I'm not particularly bothered.

Hey! I have a Boston Terrier. I think several people on this blog have mentioned they, too, have one or more.

Hey, you hit 2015 MGoPoints in 2015.... In less than a year. That's pretty good!

I hunt Boston Terriers for sport.
September 1st, 2015 at 2:59 PM ^
Koala's must be a lot quicker and more agile than I thought!
I'd give any animal capable of catching a Boston a wide berth.
September 1st, 2015 at 3:32 PM ^
I don't need a wide berth. I can't sleep and travel at the same time.
September 1st, 2015 at 2:56 PM ^
We already have on committed in Sean McKeon. Rivals has him as a 2 star. People say he is underrated and can't really showcase his talents because his team mostly runs the ball.
If you look at his tape, you can see his athleticism for a guy that big. They run reverses and endarounds with him.
September 1st, 2015 at 2:51 PM ^
Disappointing, but I guess we all saw that coming.
September 1st, 2015 at 2:54 PM ^
I know we have one TE in the class... but it doesn't seem like we have that much intel on him. How good is Sean McKeon and do we still need another TE in this class?

McKeon is a nice looking tight end at 6-foot-5, and a filled out 230-pounds. He's got the size of a in-line tight end at the next level and he's comfortable being attached to the offensive line as a blocker. He's got the strength and toughness as a blocker you like to see but he can also sneak out in the passing game and do some damage. McKeon shows great toughness after the catch and the ability to stay upright and pick up yards. He's got reliable hands and does a nice job sitting in open spots and showing the quarterback his numbers so he can be seen. McKeon is a big weapon in the red zone with his mismatch ability and how he can sneak out into a route. He's got the straight line speed and ability to threaten the seam. McKeon can extend and pluck the ball when it's in the air but shows some stiffness when he has to turn and adjust his body. He shows some very good straight-line speed, being timed at 4.69 officially in the forty yard dash and also vertical jumped 36.5 inches. Has the toughness and hard-nosed demeanor that Michigan likes.http://247sports.com/Bolt/What-coaches-see-in-Sean-McKeon--37774039

Completely blind sided by this news, never saw it coming!
/wipes off the sarcasm.... Oh well good luck I guess
September 1st, 2015 at 3:16 PM ^
I wonder if Harbaugh wants to recruit another tight end in this class. Upshur and Nauta are impact prospects so it'd make sense to recruit them even if we're full for the position. But moving forward, anyone we recruit - possibly Jacob Mathis or Connor Murphy - would likely take a bit of time to develop.
September 1st, 2015 at 3:22 PM ^
I thought Connor Murphy was being recruited strictly as a defender. I guess that could all change if he comes here knowing that Harbaugh likes to move people around.

September 1st, 2015 at 4:15 PM ^
Oh yeah, definitely not worried about Harbaugh developing TEs into NFL talents. I was just under the impression that besides Jake Butt we didn't have a lot of tight ends that can be counted on every play. That would be a problem in the type of offense Harbaugh runs. To be fair, I do like Bunting a lot. I think he'll be really good in the future.

commitment ceremonies, etc...
But, huh, I actually dug that video (even if I wish the decision was different). Nice work.
