UPDATE TSIO: Herron & Posey Out Indefinitely
Well, it appears that Posey and Herron were taking other benefits than just tattoos. Looks like they may have been receiving some money for summer jobs in Cleveland. Read for yourself and let me know what you think:
Herron and Posey Out Indefinitely
EDIT: Lawyer for OSU has stated that the eligibility of one of the Tat 5 is now being called into question by the NCAA. This being reported by 97.1 The Fan in Columbus. They have not said if it's Adams, Posey, Herron, or Solomon Thomas.

EDIT: It's good but doesn't deserve it's own thread... "She's a pro..." "THE BEST!"
HAHAHAHA two words: troll face.

Matt: Dantonio can't coach, but he hates humanity with a burning passion and that's what makes him the moderately successful and extremely lonely person he is.
October 3rd, 2011 at 12:53 PM ^
Holy shit that's funny.
October 3rd, 2011 at 1:02 PM ^
Plenty of people thought anyone criticizing Sparty after that win were being unfair or biased (which is senseless given everyone here should/must hate OSU much more). Sounds like the collective CFB chorus is singing along. Plus, hilarious.
October 3rd, 2011 at 11:40 AM ^
6 wins?
October 3rd, 2011 at 11:46 AM ^
They *might* be able to squeak by Purdue and Indiana. I think Penn State will beat them and then we all know all bets are off in that last game. I think 5-7 is a real possibility for them this year.
October 3rd, 2011 at 11:54 AM ^
That game will be the most boring, unwatchable games ever. I say OSU wins 6-3
October 3rd, 2011 at 1:04 PM ^
6-3 PSU. Penn State's unwatchable QB's have 1 year of experience over OSU's unwatchable QB's.
October 3rd, 2011 at 2:54 PM ^
First downs would happen on accident.
October 3rd, 2011 at 11:55 AM ^
That PSU-OSU game might be for bowl eligibility. PSU should beat Purdue but beyond that it's OSU or Northwestern to get their 6th win.
October 3rd, 2011 at 1:47 PM ^
Definitely under. You figure Nebraska, Illinois, and Wisconsin. 3 losses, they're 3-5. Indiana and Purdue are should wins and I think they will win that's 5-5. Penn State is a boring 6-3 loss so by the time they come up here they could be at 5-6 looking for Bowl Eligibilty. It would be nice to get minor payback for 2009
October 3rd, 2011 at 11:42 AM ^
under
October 3rd, 2011 at 11:43 AM ^
Posey's absence won't matter - it's not like they have anyone who can throw the ball to him. Maybe it would make a difference if the NCAA started allowing one and two-hoppers to count as completions - Bauserman would be a Heisman dark-horse candidate.
October 3rd, 2011 at 11:46 AM ^
True, at least with Denard's jump balls somebody has a chance.
October 3rd, 2011 at 11:44 AM ^
"Alright, next up on our betting lines... the over-under for OSU wins this season!"
"I'll take the under."
"But I haven't told you what the number is yet..."
"I'll take the under."
October 3rd, 2011 at 11:45 AM ^
Corruption at its finest, Like SMU they just couldn't stop even after they got caught (somewhat). I don't think Gene Smith survives two minutes after the final NCAA verdict, and my that take till December.
October 3rd, 2011 at 11:47 AM ^
he is going to go down in a ball of flames. It's going to be fantastic.

"A separate probe by the NCAA into Herron and Posey apparently showed they may have received improper benefits in terms of alleged inflated remuneration while working summer jobs in the Cleveland area. It could mean at least one more game of suspension for Herron, for whom the benefits was said to be in the $200 to $400 range, and perhaps multiple games for Posey, for whom the benefit was said to be about $500."
The investigation into the two stemmed from the early-season action taken against three other Buckeyes, running back Jordan Hall, cornerback Travis Howard and safety Corey Brown. Those three were suspended the first two games for accepting $200 each from booster Robert “Bobby” DiGeronimo while attending a charity fundraiser event in the Cleveland suburb of Independence. DiGeronimo admitted to that transgression.
He also has made no secret of the fact his family’s company, Independence Excavating, has employed OSU football and basketball players from time to time over the last 30 years as part-time employees, usually doing odd jobs such as washing the company trucks. That is not a violation as long as the work actually is done and the athletes are paid the standard rate.
Herron and Posey had taken part in that program, the sources said, and the NCAA thinks it found discrepancies between what they were paid and what they should have been paid. "
Or a Lack there of?
October 3rd, 2011 at 11:55 AM ^
that it is a "program" sound like LOIC to me.
October 3rd, 2011 at 11:46 AM ^
twelve tattoos and an undisclosed amount of inflated remuneration that both of those will be on the field against Michigan, regardless of their guilt.
October 3rd, 2011 at 12:34 PM ^
Obvisously. Why? Because it's no big deal to vacate wins when there aren't any wins to vacate.
October 3rd, 2011 at 11:46 AM ^
Gene Smith Should have been fired, long ago (or stepped down, if he were a real man).
OSU season is in the dumps. If they were smart (they clearly are not), with the sanctions still pending, they'd not allow any of these suspended players to play another down at OSU.
Oh yea, and where I'm from, we roll with $50/hr for washing cars.
October 3rd, 2011 at 11:47 AM ^
The NCAA and Yahoo! are so so sooo mean to OSU. Just ask 11warriors
October 3rd, 2011 at 3:00 PM ^
Once again I say fcuk Ohio and their lying self-absorbed fanbase. They god damn well paid their players (that's wtf extra benefits amount to blogosphere) and smugly act like 'everyone does it'. Yahoo isn't mean...fcuking Karma is mean.
October 3rd, 2011 at 11:47 AM ^
Come on down!
October 3rd, 2011 at 11:52 AM ^
Not to imply that the "price would be right" for coming to Michigan, though, right?
October 3rd, 2011 at 12:02 PM ^
should only be so lucky.
October 3rd, 2011 at 11:49 AM ^
They should both get hammered if it's now clear that they lied in the original investigation. Complete revocation of eligibility or something almost as harsh.
October 3rd, 2011 at 12:45 PM ^
We're more likely to see Emmert throw a birthday party for Tressel, Pryor and the rest of the suspended players than see the NCAA come down hard on OSU. OSU makes cash money, plain and simple.
October 3rd, 2011 at 12:48 PM ^
I agree nothing is going to happen, but OSU doesn't make the NCAA any money.
October 3rd, 2011 at 1:24 PM ^
it's the lying to the NCAA that really gets their goat.
October 3rd, 2011 at 11:50 AM ^

As a newcomer to being around people who like ohio state, just last fall, right before tat-gate, on of my new in-laws was explaining how businesses in ohio "employ" athletes and pay players $500 for "working" like 2 hours at landscaping companies. At the time, I thought he was just passing along third-hand gossip, so I dismsised it as such. But when this whole $200 envelope story broke, I learned that it was his friend's dad, DiGeronimo, who had been doing this. Wholey small world.

October 3rd, 2011 at 12:04 PM ^
These crooks make SMU look like Girl Scouts. D-E-A-T-H P-E-N-A-L-T-Y. The AD and that idiot President of theirs too. A fish rots from the head down.
They are an embarassment to the B1G. Can we vote 'em out of the conference? We could replace them with Cincy, or Miami of Ohio.
October 3rd, 2011 at 12:13 PM ^
This is a dumb post. SMU will always be the gold standard in corruption.
October 3rd, 2011 at 12:27 PM ^
At least until Bauserman kills 5 hookers...
October 3rd, 2011 at 12:46 PM ^
Craig James killed 5 hookers while he was at SMU?!?!?!
October 3rd, 2011 at 1:33 PM ^
I guess this is what happens when a meme metamorphoses to an urban legend.
October 3rd, 2011 at 1:54 PM ^
I was at a tailgate for Minnesota and people who I know don't browse around on EDSBS or MGoBlog knew about the "rumor" involving Craig James
October 3rd, 2011 at 12:19 PM ^
Douche, this is nothing like SMU. Add up OSU, UNC, USC & Miami and it's not SMU. Auburn might be close.
October 3rd, 2011 at 12:05 PM ^
love it...just love every last bit of it
October 3rd, 2011 at 12:05 PM ^
that said that Hall, Howard, and Brown received money from TP. This DiGeronimo guy makes more sense...
October 3rd, 2011 at 12:11 PM ^
were from DiGeronimo, TP passed them along. A booster can't be seen handing out individual envelopes of cash! He has to give all the cash to pryor who can then pass it out to teammates
October 3rd, 2011 at 12:05 PM ^
I keep thinking of that kids toy - you know the one with several holes and pegs that kids can hammer in. The NCAA is the kid in this case, and they are bound to hit one of the pegs these days...

OSU is beginning to get what they deserve.
(AP) "for leaders such as Athletic Director Gene Smith and University President Gordon Gee, who allowed a star coach and star players to believe they could skirt the rules, and all those boosters, supporters and fans so blinded by loyalty that they actually believe the Buckeyes have been victimized, this season is exactly what they had coming."

Fickell being named permanent head coach is getting what they deserve.
