UNLV football going all-in...

If you thought turnover chains were stupid, here's at least a logically consistent sideline celebration:

Money quote:

“It’s not like you can just buy a slot machine on eBay and tote it around with you to games,” McIntyre said...I wanted it to win on every spin, though, because if it doesn’t win it’s, you know, not as cool,” McIntyre said with a laugh.

I was able to read the first paragraph or two before it asked me to sign in. Can you just tell me how much each player "wins" when they pull the slot machine lever? I wasn't able to read that far.

I went to the Utah State @ UNLV football game this last Saturday (wife is a Utah State alum).  We didn't hear anything from the slot machine, just saw it on the video board when they used it (after touchdowns and turnovers).  It's fine -- let the kids have fun if they like it -- but UNLV is going to have to get a lot more creative to generate more excitement for the football program.  They were winless last season, are winless this season, and haven't been good since maybe the 70s?  They have been to (4) TOTAL bowl games in their history.  It was cool going to the Raiders new stadium, though.

I believe playing a game should be fun. Anything that's spontaneous should be celebrated. Signature moves after a big play should be allowed (as long as they don't last as long as a halftime dance routine). I'm okay with taunting and think it is dumb Dax Hill got a flag simply for letting the receiver know he wasn't good enough.

To me, this is just stupid. The coaches or AD are trying to create "a thing" which has nothing to do with the game or individual players.

You all can get off my lawn, but I think having some discretion can be a good thing.

The turnover chain is the most played out thing in college football as of late. Miami was cool with it a few years ago, and then every AD/coach/suit decided to make their own progressively dumber version, which gets us to UNLV.

Waiting for the ISU Cyclones to make the “Turnover Twister” next. A beautiful diamond-studded wind simulator that players go into after forcing a turnover.

I was going to say it's better than a "Turnover Lap Dance" from a stripper from Olympic Gardens or Crazy Horse II.

But seriously, spending $60K of taxpayer money on this thing? (UNLV is of course a public university) I couldn't read the whole article because of the paywall, but was it donated?

Yeah, but we have big money donors and alums, like the Harrises, Taubmans, and Rosses.

UNLV has...Sam's Town, Guy Fieri and Kenny Mayne?

Seriously doubt that their athletic department is run without public support. It only cleared $1M in profit last year, with who knows with what support.
