UM/OSU 2017 Refs - 10 questionable calls

the lot of it. The bs calls resulting from an inconsistent standard that continues the status quo.

So, here is what happened after we bitched and the coach got fined 10k by the league last year for offiiciating in The Game. That crew worked one Michigan game this year.

The NCAA instituted a sideline behavior rule that many believed resulted from Harbaugh's behavior in Columbus.

Michigan set a school record for penalties when a rookie crew called 16 penalties against Michigan in the Indiana game and their head coach, Tom Allen, ripped the officials up and down the sideline in October without a flag. Afterward, he suggested Michigan got the benefit of the doubt in the officiating when a questioned sideline onside kick call went Michigan's way.  

This behavior occurred in the Purdue game as well with Jeff Brohm suggesting Michigan had been the beneficiary of onesided officiating in a game in which Michigan lost its starting qb for the season on a possible late hit.

We could go on. But we are over it.

 

Holy shit this place has gone so far beyond pathetic I really don’t have the words. I’ve been a Michigan fan for over 30 years and an alum and I am fully embarrassed to be associated with some of you who will not let this reffing bullshit die. Get the fuck over it you pathetic bastards.

Yeah, #1 was astonishingly bad. #85 tries to set a moving pick, falls down doing so, and they throw the flag on the defense.

It's no wonder Ohio State loves to run the Mesh play so much, if the officials are going to gift them like that.

I do hope Michigan's coaches study in the off-season how teams like Ohio State and the Patriots, and maybe a couple of others, seem to get away with holding without being called more than most other teams. And apparently Belichick and Meyer are on good terms, so it is entirely likely they have exchanged an idea or two.

While I don't give much creedence to conspiracy theories, I believe there may be a more scientific, technical  reason. I believe those teams are using a more systematic approach to scouting and working those officals, in order to get away with as much as possible, knowing where they can cross the line, and how much.

And OSU had what, two touchdowns called back due to a flag? Or was it 1 touchdown and a couple of their big chunk plays called back? The refs did not decide this game. A handful of key plays where our players unfortunately came up short sealed our fate.

Our program is on the right trajectory and we will be back in the playoff discussion in the not too distant future. We will win rivalry games soon. Better luck next year.
