It's Resist:Ann Arbor
:ink: https://www.meetup.com/Resist-Ann-Arbor/
Apparently it's a protest during the Board of Regents meeting
December 5th, 2019 at 8:32 PM ^
Why would they resist Ann Arbor? What did it do to them?
December 5th, 2019 at 11:45 PM ^
Fucked over renters
December 5th, 2019 at 6:28 PM ^
Lol it’s Ann Arbor, people here protest anything and everything they possibly can.
December 5th, 2019 at 6:45 PM ^
....exactly, getting offended and protesting is the last growth industry we seem to have left in America!
December 5th, 2019 at 7:29 PM ^
Nah, it's been in steady decline since the 70s. Take it from me, I marched with my parents in Washington for Civil Rights as a little boy to hear MLK. You got some crowds in those days.
December 6th, 2019 at 1:18 AM ^
Not trying to say you’re wrong, but Wiki lists the three largest protests as being in Jan 2017, Jan 2018, and Mar 2018. So I don’t think a steady decline since the 70’s is much more than your perception
December 6th, 2019 at 9:23 AM ^
Well, the US population has increased significantly since the 70s, There are 130 million more people now than in the 70s in the USA.

Ann Arbor is the Berkeley of the midwest
December 6th, 2019 at 9:10 AM ^
You say that like it's a bad thing.
December 6th, 2019 at 9:44 AM ^
It actually would be bad thing, and the fact that you don't realize that suggests that you know a lot less than you think.
Berkeley is filled with mentally ill homeless people to the extent that it's not safe for people to walk around at times. I broke up an vicious attack on a college girl by a homeless guy with schizophrenia when I was a student at Cal, and seeing stuff like that wasn't uncommon.
Home ownership is a pipe dream for all but the most wealthy.
Businesses can't operate due to high rent prices and low foot traffic due to the chronic homelessness and aggressive panhandling.
Sounds like a fucking wonderland - right? Ann Arbor, on the other hand, is superior in every way besides, perhaps, the availability of genuinely good food.
