dont understand why every tight end in the country doesnt want to come to uofm... we lost asiasi.... we lost out on that head case chris clark from the east coast going to ucla... we lost out on oj howard going to alabama... and we are in a dogfight for ruckert with osu (a spread offense that does not use the tight end very much)... every tight in the country should want to come here - the damn offense is designed for a good tight end......i just dont get it !!!   dont these kids parents help them???

bothered me at all. He's a legacy, his dad went to an NFL job, he already took a redshirt and he was in line for a lot of playing time. There would have to be some serious bad blood between Sr and Harbaugh.

to nominate their guys for these lists. "Hey coach, who on your offense could be a Player-of-the-Year guy?" Coach answers, "Wilton Speight". "Hey Coach, who is likely to put up your best TE numbers this coming year?" Coach answers, Tyrone Wheatley, Jr. "Hey Coach, who on your defense is a Dude?" Coach answers, "We actually have two Dudes, Rashan Gary and Mo Hurst". And the lists will go on ...

read a mlive article quoting TJ. There was a section where he was talking about all the TEs and how they were a tight group. Listed all but Gentry, which I found peculiar

LOL TJ but no Bunting? I mean, put em both on, but Bunting is the heir to the Butt Throne, not Wheat. Different positions, not that you would expect the media to know anything. Bunting looked really nice in the Orange Bowl, hopefully he can extrapolate that performance into a full season as the #1.

They should both be weapons this fall. TJ is a great kid (as you would expect from his family), and obviously a physical freak. If he's at a really good 265lbs, he will be even more of a threat downfield than he is now, and we will have a couple of towers to play with at the TE spots.

could be an early warning that Bunting may not see the field any time soon. It was weird to have the coaches indicate that all the starters were good for the Spring Game and then Bunting was a complete no show and no word why from anyone. Maybe this is to fake-out the opponents and we see Bunting unleashed on Florida as Butt_v2.0

I know this is the offeason and any #content is good content, but these "Watch Lists" for various awards are entirely meaningless. There are 54 TEs on the Mackey Award watch list this year, meaning that the list contains virtually every returning TE who anyone's heard of.

if a guy with no proven production gets on it. People just want page clicks and chatter about their little award, and they way to get those is to include as many guys from as many teams as possible.

Happy for the kid to be recognized. He certainly has all the tools to be one of the best to play here. Now he has to get the playing time and produce. I think Bunting has a high ceiling too but the thread is about Wheatley so perhaps we should be spending more time talking about his potential instead of how someone else is better, more deserving or will play ahead of him. Cream always rises to the top. Personally, I think he is a better fit and has a higher ceiling because of his size. He's physical, fast, can block, and catch. I have been waiting for him to get his turn in the spotlight and Its clear that Mackey Award watchers have been waiting too. May the best TE win because we win
