TTB: Updates on former Wolverines

Submitted by Magnus on

I put together a rundown of 22 former Michigan players, commits, and signees who have continued their careers elsewhere. This includes people like Russell Bellomy, Shaun Crawford, Damien Harris, Kyle Bosch, etc. and information on their current locations and playing situations.

EDIT: MGoBlog broke my website. It was down from last night until this morning, but now it's back up and running.

I will never get over the fact that the previous coaching staff thought Bellomy was good enough to be our #2 guy. If we had Devin ready to take over for us in that '12 Nebraska game... well, we would have won that game, at least.

I know it's trendy around here to blame Brady Hoke for everything, but Bellomy was a division 1 quarterback recruit. He wasn't a walk-on or a try-out player.

Bellomy shit his pants. He was so nervous he couldn't throw a swing pass without skipping it off the ground. I don't think that's Brady Hoke's fault, I think that's Russell Bellomy's fault.

I agree. I don't ever want to be the guy that is too hard on 18-21 year old kids just playing a game, but his performance against Nebraska was the singlehandedly worst performance by a D1 qb I have ever seen. They could have put half of us in the game at qb and we would have done no worse than Bellomy. He looked absolutely TERRIFIED.

I had buried the fact that we once had Damien Harris and George Campbell committed so far down that it was like it had never happened. Thanks for this :(

Edit: For anyone who cares, Ferns has also moved from LB to TE/H-back for the Mountaineers and is a beast. He's a true competitor and he certainly would have been on the field in some capacity for us this fall had he stuck around. Bosch on the other hand...not so much. Hearing he is the same softy down there that he was up here. Funny that we have two guys with completely opposite mindsets transfer to the same school.

Absolutely crazy reading some of those names. I did a double take when I saw Antonio Kinard--a Rich Rod-era commit still has TWO years of eligibility remaining?!

Wow, this is horribly depressing.  Thanks for putting it together though.  Some of it was like a blast from the past.  It will be interesting to keep track of some of these guys going forward.

What's depressing to me is how much some of these kids bounce around. You'd hope college could be a place of learning and some stability for these guys, especially those from tough upbringings. If you are bouncing around every year struggling to make the two deep,i can't imagine it's good for your long term success outside of football.

I'm sure it depends on the person, but some of these guys are probably transferring because they have a much higher opinion of their football ability than the rest of the world and feel like they are being screwed over by the coaches when they don't play. I doubt they care much about education if they can't get their heads out of their own asses.

One thing about Chris Clark is that he's almost 20 years old as a true freshman.  He could have just been a man among boys in HS.

I took my son on a tour of Bryant-Denney Stadium last month. They gave away leftover programs from the spring game. I flipped through and saw Damien Harris and DaShawn Hand and felt sad.

statement from Mora to Clark, especiall since he threw Rutgers and Community College in the same sentence.   He seemed kind of flighty and I think would not have been a guy Harbaugh would appreciate.
