Alas, not a Mark Twainism.  His actual line closest to this was in a letter where he quoted a British actor and wit, James Quin (1693–1766), who, when asked if he had ever seen so bad a winter, replied, ‘Yes, just such an one as last summer!’  Noby had heard of Quinn so the story morphed into a Twain saying about San Francisco instead of a Quinn saying about Winchester.

It was the Yard House.  We had dinner there Friday night and then came back to watch the World Cup match and the first half of the TCU game on Saturday.

Good call on your part - we probably ran into each other and didnt know it.

Oh, one more thing.  Saturday night after the game was over we're walking back to our hotel and I notice that Wolverine Devotee is posting pictures from the stadium on Twitter.  I look at the pictures and realize he had to be sitting in my section (or damn near it) because his view and my view were practically identical.  Note - he was in 445 and I was in 444.   Small world.

a) blossom is ONLY good in the "field." Saw the black crowes from row 12 and the sound under that wooden dome was brutal. as soon as you got out into the grass it sounded great

b) getting in and out of blossom is 10x worse than pine knob. i know a ton of folks in the area who simply refuse to go to concerts there.

c) good job on keeping your eyes to yourself. not sure i could have done that

I think every city has an outside venue that's really shitty, but OUTSIDE, so totally worth the extra money for everything. In these parts, it's the Tinley Park venue. The acoustics are shit. I went to a Who show there about 20 years ago and couldn't understand a word that the band said between songs.

For MgoDroids in the Michigan area who like semi-outdoors venues, I heartily recommend the Interlochen center for performing arts just south of Traverse City. Great, varied lineup all summer plus a state park right across the street. Sound is outstanding.

Mgrow has a spouse worth hanging onto, but I knew that from his old avatar.

It seems like about a year ago, those folks at USC enticed a receiver from Pitt to head out west, via the portal - to join the Trojans.

However, there is one big difference - Josiah Stewart plays defense.  My recent viewing of USC's play would indicate that defense is something that they not only don't "practice", or - if they do - it's certainly not something they "play" during a game.

Wishing him well as he reaches his decision.

To look at it a different way, he could see that juggernaut of an offense and be like "Wow, imagine if I went to that team and MADE THE DEFENSE GREAT ALL BY MYSELF.  Maybe I'm what they need to get them over the top!  We'd be champions!"

Just a thought he might be having.  Plus don't forget Shaun Nua is their D-Line coach.  Guy turned out to be a pretty good at his job after Don Brown left.

I said it in another thread - UM has a top 20 2023 recruiting class right now. They have signed 2 reevaluated 4 stars from the portal already. Josiah would be a 3rd.

Add Jyaire Hill, Nick Harbor and transfer Fentrell Cypress.....thats a  REALLY GOOD class.
