Transfer Offensive Tackle Willie Allen to Transfer Again
Title says it all. We hardly knew ye.
In a choice to stay positive in the face of all evil this sounds like a great sign for all the young guns.
Allen also showing up to campus way overweight didn't help his cause.
Showed up overweight, not smart enough to understand blocking schemes, freshmen beat him out.... things I hear about players leaving Michigan that go on to have success at other schools and get drafted.
Is this serious commentary? What player has left Michigan that has had success at another school? I don't mean just play, I mean you look over there and say, we really miss this dude. We don't have anyone to fill his shoes.

This is a good point. Has anyone who left the program since 2015, besides James Hudson, actually made an impact at their new program?

Devin Asiasi
In 2 yrs at UCLA he had 770 rec yds and 5 TD's. Not that impressive.
Lol of course he is.
“Lol of he course.” Couldn’t have said it better myself
Those who stay, will be the ones that remain!

OMG... 1 million upvotes.
Think this means he didn't think that he'd be the starter. He transferred to Michigan to start and now he's moving on to someplace he can.
Obviously, having more tackles is generally better than having fewer - but I'm not that concerned about a back-up OT transferring. Especially one that would only be here for a year.
Good luck to the young man.
By the reporting this sounds to be accurate. He was buried on the depth chart after spring ball. Wishing him luck, though.
Going to believe he was buried on the depth chart because of our great, young and aggressive talent on the O-Line - as opposed to him being in no mental or physical shape to compete.
Perspective and contrast is everything when seeking happiness!
We do have significant talent at Tackle with one returning starter. I think it's a very believable hypothesis.
Would still really have liked the depth tho
That’s really the only concerning part here. Stueber and Hayes are both solid OTs and have proven they can play at high levels, but both have had significant injuries while at Michigan. Stueber missed the entire 2019 season and Hayes missed the majority of last season. I don’t know if Allen was backup choice #1, but having an experienced tackle backing up two relatively injury-prone players would have been reassuring. Now I’m not so sure about the depth at that position unless El-Hadi is already looking very strong.

Barnhart played 4 games at left tackle last year.
FWIW it doesn't seem like a major problem to me, he couldn't show enough to beat out any of the potential starters and has one year of eligibility left so it makes sense to try and get some game film of him actually on the field somewhere.
The major problem, in my humble opinion, is why was he brought onto the team in the first place? You’d have to be a pretty poor judge of both talent and expectations to take him.
Bad take.
He was brought on to compete. He showed up overweight or wasn’t better than the incumbents. They have him a shot. He didn’t cut it so he was effectively cut
What’s wrong with that?
Also clears a spot for someone in the portal. Welcome to the new world of college football.

Great take. The talent evaluation is lacking with coaching staff.

I mean, he was an all conference tackle at La Tech and has an NFL body. You take a chance on guys like that at a position like tackle. And if he had wanted to stick around and be a backup with potential to start with an injury then that was likely on the table. But you can't expect a coach or player to definitely know how things are going to play out.
One factor that might be at play is that Allen committed to transfer when Ed Warinner was still the OL coach. Maybe Moore has a different approach that doesn’t mesh with Allen’s expectations.
I wouldn't be shocked if that played a role, plus the fact that it appears he wasn't in great shape. That's two strikes against a 1-year guy.

Culture. Juwan recruits by it. Jim flounders around in it.
Jeff George Jr. thinks he stayed too long.
We were so excited at one time:

I’m rather ambivalent about this news but it is hilarious the optimism of every person that comes into the program - “looks like an instant starter” - just not for us ??
I clicked the link to see if I posted a prediction that he would be the next Taylor Lewan. I did not. Whew.
Honestly, it's probably better for everyone if older guys who have been passed by younger players decide to transfer. Creates more roster spots to sign more recruits. Kinda like oversigning, only not slimy as hell.
Hopefully he lands somewhere he can play and has a good season.
We suck.
No, you suck.
My expectations for the football program entered the transfer portal a long time ago.
Have they gotten any offers? Or are they pulling a Morsell and keeping all the options open. Possibly entering the draft tomorrow too.
Quit eating eucalyptus and go to bed.
Now if we could get you to follow those expectations everything would be great.
Are they also waffling between Wazzu and Rocky Top?

Well played Putinani.
Don’t worry. Angelique will put out some propaganda soon for everyone to roll their eyes at.
good luck to the young man
Can Harbaugh go into the portal next?
I guess he wanted to win.
I would not restrict the current freedom to transfer, but it is making college sports pretty goofy at times.
damn umbig was spot on; big news afoot.
I think he may have been confusing news about someone big with big news.
Where did he say that, I missed it

He always says “transfers are coming” so when a transfer happens he says he told us so. Strong inside info.
