Tim Devno to USC as Running Backs coach

Just announced on Twitter. This is weird. I thought he was signed and sealed at Vandy

Hope he does well and rebounds from this. I know how too much responsibility can have a negative effect on all the things you normally do well, it's happened to me plenty. I have a feeling if he went back to being just an OL coach he would do well again, o well.

He should be a good fit. Drevno has RB coach experience and was the USC run game coordinator in 2014. USC is also loaded at the RB position.

About a year ago I cussed someone out for starting a thread that contained political content. I guess the person who nuked me agreed with the politics. Fortunately Mgopoints are no longer linked to your credit score.

The general tone here is quite different than mine. Given the date of departure, I didn't expect him to get any job, especially when the Vandy rumors so quickly stopped. This is pretty close to Drevno's best reasonable outcome. Glad he's moved on and good for him.

Didn’t work here but it was good he found a position on another staff. I wish him all the best.

Won't miss him and glad he is gone but I appreciate the good of the work he has put into this program since he came along with Harbaugh.

Wish him the best. I hope he finds his own success at USC...except if we end up playing against them at the Rose Bowl or a National Championship or something.

even though I hate USC. Puzzled that he could not get UM's OL to excellence. I agree with the other posters who point out the lack of tenacity and through-the-whistle aggressiveness. Several plays come to mind. One is when Speight got hit by the Purdue D when sitting down with his back to the D. The entire OL should have been all over that fucker's shit, but they stood there as if it was a benign event. Can't remember the player's name, but that ditry hit took out our starter, and our OL looked like they didn't give a shit. Otherwise, there are countless live action plays where the OL looks unenthusiastic and unenergetic.

Drevno's career is interesting. He's only worked at one power 5 school on a staff other than Harbaughs and it's USC where he is now working again. Is this a case of a guy who is only seen as a position coach and Harbaugh gave him an opportunity to be a OC? Why wasnt a guy like him able to get a mid major HC job like Hoke was able to?
