Tim Devno to USC as Running Backs coach

Just announced on Twitter. This is weird. I thought he was signed and sealed at Vandy

His previous Offensive Coordinator experience was at San Diego.

Since then, TE coach at Stanford, OL at Stanford, OL with 49ers, Running Game Coordinator/OL at USC, then OC at Michigan.

It's another Brady Hoke type situation. Hoke and by most accounts Drevno are good position coaches. That's their ceiling. Just as guys like Norv Turner and Dick LeBeau are good coordinators, but bad Head Coaches.

I assume he means French Indochina.

I always liked that the European colonialists were so racist and ignorant of their "subjects" that they just said: "You know, these people don't look quite Indian, but they aren't quite Chinese either. Shall we call this place Indochina? Yes, yes we shall..."

That hurts!  I really thought he would have been fine concetrating on the OL here.  And thought for sure he'd get an OL job somewhere.  Never thought he'd be such a failed look that he'd have to settle for RB coach.  I wish him well, but I hope his new team forever sucks.  I'm no fan of USC!

Was not on here at the time, but knew as soon as Warriner was hired, he would be gone. We upgraded in a huge way. I think he is to nice of a guy to be coaching the o-line and always hated his interveiws. Everybody was doing great and progressing, except that was not what I was seeing from the o-line at all. Our o-line needs to upgrade it's aggressiveness tenfold. I truly hope Warriner is more old school like Zordich. Grahm Glasgow played some nice ball, but have not been impressed with a Michigan o-lineman since Lewan and neither has the NFL.

The o-line sets the tone for your team, especially in college ball. I watched an o-line stand around why two QB's went to the hospital. Way to passive. I guess I got to used to guy's like Everitt, Elliot and Hutchinson.

Big difference between Mattison's and Drevno's lines. Big difference in caliber of coaches. Hope Warriner lives up to the billing, because Michigan used to pump out All-americans with regularity from their o-lines.

As long as he's not here anymore, I don't care who he's coaching. That said, I wonder why Vandy got cold feet about hiring him, or was it just Drevno being like "Being a position coach at USC is a much better job than being a position coach at Vanderbilt."

Keep pumping the well Drevno. Just do it somewhere else; we’ve been pumped enough over the last few years.
