Is There an NIL Collective for UM FB defense?
Anywhere to donate to hold onto our elite defense? So much talent on this roster.
With staff turnover, the only thing that matters now is holding on to the players. Is there an NIL focused on the defensive side of the ball to donate to?
UM’s defense will be one of the most if not the most talented in the country next year, if the players stay.
Best D-line, DT’s elite, edge should be better, more experienced. We did lose depth here, however.
Great LB’s, speed and athletic, beefed up with a transfer.
Great secondary despite losing Mikey. McBurrows has a ton of experience at nickel and expect a 2nd corner to step into Wallace role. Sabb, Paige and Moore? - crazy flexibility for scheme, especially with Will locking down 1/2 the field.
Maybe only UGA and OSU have proven defensive talent and scheme like UM going into 2024.
If Moore can navigate the schedule with a max of 2 losses, UM makes the playoff and it buys the program a year to reload, rethink NIL, and restaff. Yes, 2025 is probably a rebuilding year.
All that said…Fire Warde! Losing Herbert to the Chargers for a position that doesn’t exist in the NFL was final straw for me. Coordinators leaving for a shot at the NFL with Jim and not dealing with 24-7 recruiting and portal, especially when passed over for promotions, understandable at least.

How long until some of Michigan’s top professors start leaving for the Chargers? Will we lose Rick’s to LA as well? Replace the terminal gate at LAX with the East Engin arch? Ugh

Well, Sam talked about this on the WTKA roundtable. And, it sound like people have stepped up enough so as to ensure the defense is sticking around. No more details than that, though.

I am assuming the worst in everything in the Michigan Athletic Department right now. Everyone can say that the defense is sticking around but our stars could leave for a transactional school while we play the transformational walk ons and I wouldn't be shocked.

Yeah but the thing about a collective is that they are outside the athletic department. It’s important for the athletic department and drive donations, but they are independent entities who are raising money and directing it how they see fit (though doing so by consulting with the coaching staff).

We are both a transactional school and a transformational school. When you sign up for a scholarship, you get tuition, room and board, fees, and a stipend to cover full cost of attendance. That’s the transaction. The transformation is the experiences you get from attending the premier public university in the nation. That includes the people you meet, the facilities you get to train in, the big games you get to play in, and the summer learning opportunities such as trips to Europe, South Africa or historical places in the USA.
If, by transactional, you mean getting paid big bucks under the table by a school, that’s illegal.

Fuck a collective. Until the university proves they are somewhat serious about retaining players and coaches, they can take a hike. It has parallels to billion dollar companies asking for a donation when you’re checking out somewhere.
There was no transition plan for players or coaches, so I doubt my donation would alleviate their ineptitude.
