From Dan Dierdorf to Jumbo Elliott, there is no shortage of great players (specifically offensive tackles) who wore the #72. My expectation today was for the video to be a tribute for one of those more famous names, but today's #72 comes with plenty of storytelling when the cameras were rolling, so let's showcase that...

Thanks to Prof. Greg Dooley and Houck Agency. Enjoy!

And today's watch is definitely the most unique of the series! 90s Michigan Football fans (and historians) alike are more than familiar, but for those who don't know: the Wolverines opened the 1995 season a week early with the "Pigskin Classic," a game against Virginia on a sweltering day in the Big House that was treated like a neutral-site game and featured the debut of Lloyd Carr, the original Nike equipment contract, and a signature finish courtesy of Scott Dreisbach and Mercury Hayes.

Regardless of your familiarity with this game, what you may not know is that the Wolverines were awarded watches for the win, manufactured by Tangent Corporation:

big ed.  as big as he was, he dated one of the tiniest girls at U of M, a cutie, good gal, but she might've been 5' tall and that's it.

it was also appropriate that when 'jumbo' jon elliot was on this recruiting visit and over to the house that big ed was the guy who was his team-partner.  they were cut from the same mold.

Besides #77, #72 has always been my favorite offensive linemen number. Not sure why. Just feels right. Maybe it's the math dork in me and I like a number with lots of divisors.
