There are...
...days until Ed Muransky (OT 1978-1981) sees Michigan get 2023 started on September 2nd against ECU in the Big House.

Go Blue, Beat the Pirates!
From Dan Dierdorf to Jumbo Elliott, there is no shortage of great players (specifically offensive tackles) who wore the #72. My expectation today was for the video to be a tribute for one of those more famous names, but today's #72 comes with plenty of storytelling when the cameras were rolling, so let's showcase that...
Thanks to Prof. Greg Dooley and Houck Agency. Enjoy!
From that first video he kind of looks like a chubbier Tom Brady (or Lloyd Brady)...
And today's watch is definitely the most unique of the series! 90s Michigan Football fans (and historians) alike are more than familiar, but for those who don't know: the Wolverines opened the 1995 season a week early with the "Pigskin Classic," a game against Virginia on a sweltering day in the Big House that was treated like a neutral-site game and featured the debut of Lloyd Carr, the original Nike equipment contract, and a signature finish courtesy of Scott Dreisbach and Mercury Hayes.
Regardless of your familiarity with this game, what you may not know is that the Wolverines were awarded watches for the win, manufactured by Tangent Corporation:
Morris Day and The Time approve of this design. What time is it? G:05 A.D.
I was at that game. Brutalità how and Michigan looked brutally bad for 3 quarters, especially on offense. I remember Brian Griese warming up on the sidelines and wondering why Lloyd wasn't putting him in. Unbelievable finish to beat the Barber brothers.
Butterfield dropped the curl route or the game would have been over and we never get Hayes is there out of the endzone TD

Thank you for the "there are" posts.
big ed. as big as he was, he dated one of the tiniest girls at U of M, a cutie, good gal, but she might've been 5' tall and that's it.
it was also appropriate that when 'jumbo' jon elliot was on this recruiting visit and over to the house that big ed was the guy who was his team-partner. they were cut from the same mold.
Besides #77, #72 has always been my favorite offensive linemen number. Not sure why. Just feels right. Maybe it's the math dork in me and I like a number with lots of divisors.
Maybe because Dierdorf was #72. I had Dan as a student teacher (Phys. Ed) in the fall of 1969. To be honest, he seemed disinterested and pretty much let us get away with anything.
To be fair, I probably wouldn't have given a damn if I were him either.
probably an unpopular opinion.... but Dan doesn't seem like the brightest light in the panel.....
"Its not right for us to speculate on the extent of an injury, its just not fair to the athlete, but that looks bad. I have a feeling he's going to be out for some time."
What happened to his pic with the coloring..? It kinda reminds me of something else…
