Thanks Ohio!
For the 2021 recruiting class in which you took Kyle McCord and TreVeyon Henderson over JJ McCarthy and Donovan Edwards. If you haven’t heard JJ’s or Dono’s story about each of their recruitments played out in relation to this, it’s worth seeking out.
Lot of football between now and the end of November, but I have zero doubts we won this hand in a huge way.

I watched the game and I’m not sure Kyle McCord is a full cord. He might not even be 1/2 a cord, or even a face cord! #FirewoodHumor

Ohio State scored 23 against Indiana today. Last year they scored 56.
I’m harder than a diamond in an ice storm right now.

TMI, but if that lasts more than four hours, call your doctor. Or an escort.
September 3rd, 2023 at 12:08 AM ^
Call two escorts and tell them you are a Dr.
September 3rd, 2023 at 2:34 PM ^
I don’t think the escorts care what you do as long as you pay them

Or call some friends and brag

Visit your nearest ER so they can stick a needle in there and remove the blood.

No thanks! Urban Meyer told me this is entirely normal!
September 2nd, 2023 at 6:54 PM ^
Devin Brown is dishonoring the legacy of Slingin' Sammy.
September 2nd, 2023 at 7:01 PM ^
Ohio State did not look good today.
September 2nd, 2023 at 7:01 PM ^
It's only 1 game and they beat an in-conference team handily.
I'm not saying we didn't win these croot battles, but Ohio State should never ever be slept on.
We gotta keep the boot to neck.
September 2nd, 2023 at 7:06 PM ^
I would rather have JJ and Donovan than McCord and Henderson. M struggled with Indiana as well. Although Hart’s health issue probably had a lot to do with it.
September 2nd, 2023 at 8:38 PM ^
It's also game 1 in a season in which they're breaking in a new starting QB, three new starting offensive linemen, and a guy at OC who, while he's been on staff, is calling the offense for the first time.
They didn't look like a juggernaut today, but let's pump the brakes on any big conclusions at this point.
September 2nd, 2023 at 8:51 PM ^
I belive that Day kept the play calling duties
September 2nd, 2023 at 10:59 PM ^
Regardless... It would be incredibly naive to think the Sept. 1 version of OSU breaking in new personnel at incredibly important positions and the Nov. 25 version of OSU are the same.
Pump. The. Brakes.
September 2nd, 2023 at 11:17 PM ^
You’re absolutely correct. It’ll be cold and flu season on 11/25.
September 3rd, 2023 at 2:09 PM ^
What’s a “naive”?
September 2nd, 2023 at 7:08 PM ^
Yeah, but they are clearly worse than the last two years. They usually score 49 points against teams like Indiana. They were lucky to get 23 today and Indiana has some holes on defense.
September 2nd, 2023 at 7:15 PM ^
That's definitely true. If they had a killer at QB1 right now it would be evident - it's not evident.
September 2nd, 2023 at 7:34 PM ^
McCord (or Brown) will be much better by November. They won't be first round draft pick better but they will be much improved. That said, they were pretty flat.
I wonder how we would have looked had we played IU instead of ECU.
I'm glad we got our guys.
September 2nd, 2023 at 7:54 PM ^
ECU is worse than Indiana but IU is probably the 2nd worst Big Ten team ahead of Northwestern. If Michigan wanted to, they could have kept JJ and starters in and aired it out to win 44-0 against ECU.
September 2nd, 2023 at 8:39 PM ^
Is ECU worse? Im noth sure. Those mid tier southern teams, have a ton of southern talent just seem better for whatever reason
September 2nd, 2023 at 9:15 PM ^
According to the enemies ranked analysis, Indiana is better but the worst B1G team by a considerable margin.
September 2nd, 2023 at 9:45 PM ^
When I put ECU@IU into the Massey matchup tool it gives Indiana 31, East Carolina 27, and Indiana a 59% win probability.
Of course at this point there's no data for this year so that's just a baseline for the two programs.
September 2nd, 2023 at 9:25 PM ^
Nobody in CFB is clearly anything after their first game of the season.
September 2nd, 2023 at 9:43 PM ^
Did you see Indiana’s QB throw the ball? OSU was playing against a team that essentially didn’t have any passing plays in their offense.
September 2nd, 2023 at 7:09 PM ^
It was pleasant watching OSU look so mortal.
This would be a great year to get them early in the season; they probably need the reps more than recent past years.
The best news is so far their QBs look...not great. Let's hope that continues!
Their game vs ND will be very interesting.
September 2nd, 2023 at 7:16 PM ^
Watched ND today. Their defense had some early struggles but their offense - Sam Hartman has them showing out.
If OSU doesn't have Marvin Harrison for that game they might lose big.
September 2nd, 2023 at 7:33 PM ^
I don't see any reason why ND shouldn't be a favorite (maybe even a strong favorite). They clearly have the better QB and offensive line, and it's at ND.
September 2nd, 2023 at 7:43 PM ^
Just the first game. Ohio State is loaded, although McCord looked out of sync at times.
September 2nd, 2023 at 9:09 PM ^
Their OL is still putrid. That probably had something to with it.
September 2nd, 2023 at 9:45 PM ^
Their D line wasn’t impressive either, especially against the run, which was the only thing Indiana could do.
September 3rd, 2023 at 1:25 PM ^
Exactly. They just cobbled that OL together this year. No mammoth OT likely to be drafted by the NFL sitting out there. That and not their QB seems as if it might be their downfall.
September 3rd, 2023 at 4:54 PM ^
Right on the poor OL play of OSU. The front was poor at pass blocking and the run game wasn’t much better.
September 2nd, 2023 at 8:02 PM ^
Until they lose, I'm holding my breath...
September 3rd, 2023 at 9:03 AM ^
How long are you going to hold it for?
September 2nd, 2023 at 8:42 PM ^
When was the last time OSU didn't throw a TD pass? Has to be a very, very long time.
September 2nd, 2023 at 9:14 PM ^
I believe it was last season against Northwestern.
September 3rd, 2023 at 10:57 AM ^
Oh man, I completely forgot about that game! Played in a major wind storm, right?

Nice to see the preseason hypesman catch two balls for 18 yards
September 2nd, 2023 at 9:21 PM ^
Day focused big on Michigan last year, but this year their focus on us will be Sparty level. Loaded team, with a full season to get their QB ready. I predict an epic war and only hope we match their intensity in preparation.
September 2nd, 2023 at 9:45 PM ^
Obviously we cannot overlook OSU but this team feels worse than their last two. Our teams should be better than our last two. It is home.
September 2nd, 2023 at 9:46 PM ^
But what if Ryan Day just actually isn’t a complete coach, and we’re seeing the slide start to collect steam? How will a full season help then? Because that’s what I saw today.
September 2nd, 2023 at 10:28 PM ^
I mean, yes they focus on us every year. And yes they will definitely be the hardest game on the schedule and yes they will look better come November. But it's not like you can't say the same about us. And as much as OSU fans want to cling to the narrative of better overall talent, that's really only true of their WR room. Every other position group is at best a push, and for at least OL and secondary, a decisive edge to us
September 2nd, 2023 at 10:12 PM ^
They have a game like this almost every year. It means nothing. We still should beat them. But it means nothing.
September 2nd, 2023 at 10:33 PM ^
I disagree. There was a glaring difference. There is no CJ Stroud walking out this year to sling it and rake up stupid stats vs bad teams. Big difference.
September 3rd, 2023 at 7:42 AM ^
No CJ Stroud firing on all cylinders from the beginning of the season shredding defenses with pinpoint accuracy, no. But they've got three months for their 4 and 5 stars to improve into something quasi-lethal.
(And for that matter, Michigan's vaunted run game looked pretty mediocre). Both teams will be quite different come the end of November.

Youngstown State is in trouble now.
