Texas is an utter trainwreck right now. They're about to go 4-8 in year two of Charlie Strong after going 6-7.

I have no inside info, but there is a pretty good chance that this visit was already set up prior to his verbal.

Do you really expect a high school senior to cancel an in-home visit with a a big time college head coach, persuasive professional high pressure recruiter trying to get a foot in the door?

Kid vs. adult; amateur vs. professional

IMO, not so easy for anyone his age in his position. Possible to do, certainly, but not easy. Cut him some slack.

I think this is just a courtesy acceptance of a visit. He sounded like he had a lot of respect for that staff. If someone you respect calls and asks for one last sit-down, you should accept it. If you don't, it's like breaking up with someone over a text message.

Exactly, it was a standing plan and I am sure he wanted to maintain the plan and not cancel out on it. There's a maintaining the relationship angle for his high school as well. I am sure Harbaugh and company are taking this into account, but I think we could all do with a little chilling out.

The visit was probably planned well in advance of his "commitment."

I'm sure he doesn't mind the attention he gets being recruited. Let the kid enjoy this opportunity.

Relax guys.  Harbaugh and Mattison won't let the pedal off the metal.  Coffee is for closers we all know that.  Relax and let the coaches do their job.  No point questioning the kid's integrity or whatnot.

These higher star recruits are going to get lots of attention from all sorts of schools. We need to pump the brakes and not question the integrity of an 18 year old over a tweet or possible visit. Unfortunately things have changed in the recruiting game and its not commit now or we no longer have a spot for you time. Harbaugh will get his guys.

THANK YOU for this post.  Questioning the integrity of an 18 year old kid is what makes college football fans look like crazy assholes.  This kid gets one shot to live out his dream; let him take his time and do whatever he needs to do to feel right about it.

BTW he keeps tweeting that he's all UM.  R-E-L-A-X

I can't imagine the pressure these kids are under from friends, family, hanger-onner's...everyone who's looking to take advantage could be in his ear about staying close to home where he's more accessible. They see Michigan as a threat to take their meal ticket away

I mean, your guess is as good as mine. I think it's equally likely that he just felt like putting some stupid, useless cliche. We have no idea how long this in-home visit has been scheduled. For all we know, it could just be Elliott's way of politely informing a staff that has invested a lot in recruiting him that he's going somewhere else.

My point is, a random cliche isn't very helpful here. Is Elliott B.S.? So now he's walking? Where? To Michigan? Or is he money... Because he talked to Texas tonight?

Pretty clear that this kid is going to be an open recruitment to the bitter end. Most of these kids love the attention, and I'm sure Charlie Strong is doing everything possible to get Elliot to stay in state. I don't think Elliot ends up in our class, just a gut feeling as he has already committed 3 times to 3 different schools.
