Standing ovation for Cade tonight?

When he enters the game, it would be the ideal way to show appreciation for 2021. Regardless of what happens going forward, he deserves the love!

Let’s make it happen!

People keep saying this, but Harbaugh has already said he doesn’t want to do the switching he did last year. So barring injury or a blowout, I don’t think we’ll be seeing much of the backup.

With that in mind, I don’t know how much sense it makes to play both QBs if JJ is the starter. What is Cade going to bring for a series or a random snap that is going to impact the game more than JJ just continuing to play? You can at least argue that JJ’s added running dimension is a nice addition to the offense when he comes in randomly if Cade starts. I just don’t see what the upside is the other way around though.

I don’t think a standing ovation for Cade in today’s game will mean anything.  It might generate the opposite impression.  Did he get one when he came back in the game last week?  Will it say, “thanks, Cade, we don’t need you anymore”?  Cade doesn’t need standing ovations, he needs NIL money. He’s not going anywhere and he will have more chances to build a video reel of highlights for NFL scouts.

I will never forget being in 8th grade and I was the anchor for the 4x400 metre relay. By the time I got the baton we were in last place by almost a full lap. So it was me running the entire track alone as the crowd did a standing ovation out of pure pity. That made it worse. I think I'd have preferred booing. I ran my fastest time simply to get the agony over with.

That was the longest 4 minutes of my life.
