Sports Illustrated on Devin Bush and his fit with the NFL:

Devin says:

“With everything that comes with the game now, the game is definitely not, Get in big packages and run power football all day,” Bush says. “The league is getting a lot of playmakers, and they want to put them all in space to create matchups.

Yep.

Bonus OT: Nick Bosa's great-grandfather was a mobster of significance.

Is this article in an online edition only? I couldn’t find it in the newest print version.

Great article BTW.

Never thought when I first saw Bush come in as a freshman and get that bogus targeting call that he would end up being probably the best linebacker I’ve ever seen at Michigan. Whoever is filling his spot next year there will be a drop off, simply because of how incredibly he was. Just hoping the drop off isn’t (in the words of Sam Webb) precipitous.

No doubt, Devin is one helluva player...he will be missed. However, Ross and McGrone (and others) are going to be outstanding as well. I believe this defense is going to be surprisingly good. Statistically, people are going to bitch-but it will be because the offense appears to be going to put them back on the field more quickly...whether it is a 4 play 77 yard scoring "drive" or a 3 and out.

interesting article about the bosas.  their grandfather, palmer pyle, was mentioned in the article.  he was up in TC for years and an acquaintance.  he moved to AZ a couple of years ago though.  his body was beat up from football.  they played in a different era, and palmer was a genuine tough guy and a good guy.

Meanwhile, the Lions reach (like, REALLY reach) for a LB in the 2nd rd who runs a 4.86 forty because he's the prototypical oversized LB that Matt Patricia covets.  Good luck with that....

It’s in keeping with Lions tradition that they passed on taking Michigan defensive stalwarts like Bush or Gary. They sneered at taking Lamarr Woodley and David Harris in 2007, opting instead to take that perennial All-Pro QB Drew Stanton. They could have taken Foote in 2002 and passed that up as well.
