Somewhat OT: SEC Sucks!!

Submitted by MIMark on January 1st, 2024 at 10:28 PM

SEC champion Alabama. 3-2 in non-conf play. Lost to Big Ten champs. Lost to Big 12 champs. Nearly lost to ... (checks notes) South Florida. Beat the dominant powerhouses of MTSU and Chattanooga.

Can we please stop this SEC narrative already?

The SEC has been vanquished!

Michigan fans took over this huge cruise ship in the Caribbean. Like Don Brown used to say, ‘You Have to Make Them FEEL You!’

Oh, they felt us!

Go blue!!!!!!

Reminds me so much of 2016, when Rutgers spouted all that bullshit about Ohio State being their “powerful ally.”

When in fact, I’m sure Ohio State didn’t give two flying fucks about the supposed plight of Rutgers.

Does MSU really think Alabama gives two craps about them? Does MSU really think that Alabama even acknowledges their existence?

I was wondering if Day was covering for a disciplinary action with his comments that Hinzman had some bad practices while the OLine Day put out for Missouri had a terrible game.

Even though Hinzman started all 12 regular season games for the Buckeyes this season, he did not play a single snap in the Cotton Bowl showdown with Missouri as former starting right guard Matt Jones moved to center for the game with senior offensive lineman Enokk Vimahi starting in his place at right guard.

...

“Carson was having a tough time the last couple weeks of practice and we felt this was the right thing to do at the time,” Day said of the move after the game. “It was not that Carson will never play here again but based on the last couple of weeks of play, the decision was made that Matt gave us the best chance at center.”

...

But obviously, Jones played more than just a few reps at center in the bowl game – he played the entire game, and Ohio State made no changes to its offensive line even though it was by far the unit’s worst performance of the entire season.

While the Cotton Bowl by itself will be forgotten, the performances of the OSU OLine & QB have to be very concerning going into 2024. That was not a functional offense and the OLine was a big reason.

This OP is stupid. Alabama gave a great M team more than we wanted. They are a great program. They do not “suck”.

Lat year M squeaked by Illinois. In 2021 we were fortunate to beat Nebraska. It’s hard to win every week.

What are you - 16 years old?

Go Blue - we beat a very good team in Alabama.

The comment section in the second half game thread here was pathetic. People crying for Harbaugh’s job. It’s the usual suspects like the Cube and others but you can always not post your stupid thoughts.

I preface this by saying that I was indeed frustrated and called our coach by Bo Harbaugh in the game thread. But, outside of the defense, there was legitimate concerns in the moment. So, it is easy to post something like this in hindsight. All I am saying is allow your fellow fans to face their demons without throwing in their faces...

People calling for Harbaugh or Moore to be fired in the comments should be called out for their bullshit and deservedly so. Harbaugh and Moore are the fucking reason we were even here in the first place.

Minter too, but you know what I mean,

That said, the folks who were sitting around wondering if this was same old Michigan in the postseason? If they were going to blow it and let Alabama escape with a win? I still don’t blame them for having those thoughts, because I was absolutely one of those posters. I will absolutely call myself out over that. Because the truth is, Michigan gave us every reason to believe that was going to happen up until that final 4th and 4.

But they proved me wrong. And it reminds me that I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a more resilient group in sports. At ANY level.

I want Washington to win tonight. For a lot of reasons, but especially because it would essentially be an all Big Ten national championship, and I don’t consider Washington to be a part of the Big Ten that tried to stab Michigan in the back a few months ago.

Honestly, it’s better than the Texas - Alabama match up that everyone was predicting prior to today, which which is essentially have been in all SEC match up. And somewhere, someplace, Greg Sankey would’ve been laughing maniacally over it.

The SEC definitely had a down year, but they've earned their reputation.  They have dominated the national landscape since... 2008?  This is only the 2nd year since 2005 where they aren't playing for the title.
