Some unfortunate injury news coming

Submitted by umbig11 on

TOS is going to release an update later today on WR Drake Harris. There is a real chance that he misses the entire season again. I will update the thread with any concrete evidence later today. I feel really bad for the kid. I am sure he wants to see the field.

Edit: Rivals. Two mods chimed in on a thread about the UCLA WR transfer. Some are hoping the transfer takes a look at us and this came up in the discussion.

So I guess this is the same 'news' that came out last week, was then shot down - resulting in a public shaming for the OP - and now seems to be resurfacing with some credibility...

We'll see, but there's obviously smoke here and its a real shame for Harris if true

Last week the OP claimed he was out for the year, then people took it as far as career ending, or switching to basketball, and then it seemed as if the injury was just a tweak.

This OP should be shamed publically as well for posting potential injury news that is being rumbled about on another board. If you have no sources, and no news, then just keep it to yourself.

Maybe this OP is right. But it doesn't make it okay that he posted without any substantial information. Doing so causes assumptions to be made. This leads to panic, and panic leads to the banhammer quite often.

Success in life comes when you simply refuse to give up, with goals so strong that, obstacles, failure, and loss only act as motivation

Of course. I guess those MSU people who hoped he'd get injured after he decommitted were right after all. Hopefully he comes back stronger and annihilates everyone in the big ten in 2016.

He did want to attend Michigan but Hoke turned him down for some reason, even when Michigan needed more WR's.  This story would come full circle if he did end up a Michigan.  Probably a long shot.

Some people are just genetically prone to getting certain injuries over and over again. Hopefully it is anything but a hamstring. If it's still a hamstring issue at this point it really makes me wonder if he will ever get healthy. If he does, I will be very happy for him.

Well, we heard he tore his hammy again on a thread last week, but then that was revised to he tweaked it.  If he is in fact going to miss the whole year, maybe tore is correct.

Terrible news if true!  If this were the 1st season he was missing it would be one thing, but he hasn't played football since the Fall of 2012 now, if he doesn't play ntil the Fall of 2016 that is an awful long time off.

I think at this point if we ever see Drake on the field, we should be grateful and look at it as a pleasant addtion.

Nothing regarding Drake but hamstrings.  Everything is a tear actually.  There are just grades : 1. sore limp quick recovery  2: worse, some bruising weeks recovery  3: significant tissue displacement and big time bruising.  It also depends upon where it is.  More proximal the more troublesome.

There is a window for recovery and risk for re-injury that can be fairly large depending upon what happened.  Many athletes get them often but what we are hearing maybe for Drake seems to point to something structural perhaps.  Hope he ok.

At this point you just have to wonder if he's ever going to get on the field again. It's been what, 2-3 years since he's been in a competitive football game?

I guess those spineless MSU fans who hoped he'd get injured and never play again after he decommitted are getting exactly what they want.

...I'm afraid it will be a long and arduous recovery, if the reports of the severity of his injury are true. Football is a sport of strength, stamina and resiliency and it's ashame there isn't a way to prevent injuries during the evaluative processes the coaching staff must witness. Maybe Harbaugh should limit "full-go" practices and consult the crystal mgoball instead to determine lineup.

The post was just published and Drake is not out for the year. He injured the hamstring again and there are concerns he may never fully recover. He's going to see a specialist and then a decision will b made later this spring on his status.

It sounds like he has a chronic problem that started his senior year in HS. We've got some pretty good orthopaedists here, so the specialist they refer to must be to get a second opinion.

If his playing days turn out to be over, at least he can obtain a very high quality education if he stays here/

A tough loss.  The kid has great potential, but if he's really out again I'm dubious he'll ever be able to recover to be the player he once was.  At least he's getting an education out of it.

Id hang up the spikes and go talk to Beilein. Poor kid is never going to see the field in a game. Must be devastated. I bet the SPARTY trolls are all over this shit.

Assuming he is out for the year, that would mean he missed his Senior year of high school, his freshman season of college, and now his sophomore year. Can we stop hyping up how great Harris is supposed to be when he hasn't played in 3 years? The last time this kid played in a game, he hadnt taken the ACT yet. I'd have to assume he's done. Even if he stays on and tried to come back and play, you're still looking at an incredibly raw and undeveloped player who hasn't really played since high school.

If the news will indeed be bad (we probably won't really know until there's been a full evaluation, which I haven't seen unless I missed something huge), hopefully there is something that can be done so that Harris can at least contribute on a limited basis if not more. It seems sad for someone who really wanted to play here to be sidelined in this manner, so we shall see.

This is very unfortunate. For whatever reason Drake has faulty hamstrings. I hope he can return one day, but if not, he can take solace in earning one of the best degrees there is. Not all is lost young man, good luck with your recovery. God speeeeed

Kind of injury news as well, but has anyone seen or heard from Ondre Pipkins? He hasn't been talked about at all this entire spring. I'm a bit worried he is going to be a guy who is going to get a firm handshake...

I feel so bad for this kid. He came in praised as a one of the best wide recievers in the state of Michigan ever, and now he has gotten injured for the second time. I just wish the kid the best.
